Is there a way to allow a user to move playhead to any point on the progress bar (including much ahead of the loaded portion of the movie) and resume play from there? Presently a user can skip ahead only as far as the download happened.

My Original Post:I have been designing a visual presentation in Flash CS5, there are a few movie clips on the stage that are set to play at a certain time/frame. The problem I am having is that I am not familiar with coding/actions. I want to have a play and a pause button so I can pause at any point (not a specified frame) and discuss with the audience. Then I want to be able to click the play button to resume from that point (wherever I paused from). I hope to get help and be able to learn from your answers. I'm building a flv_video AS3 player. I'm using steaming-video.The player is working fine, but there is something that I want to improve. Currently when I push play button and if I drag&drop the scrubber of progress-bar somewhere in the area that is still not buffered, the player doesn't start to play from that position. So I want to do it.
View 2 RepliesI just updated to CS5 - I'm working on a custom video player. It works fine embedded in a web page both locally and on the network. It works fine in the debug player. However, when I test it in the authoring player I get a NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound error and no video. I have tried setting the Local Playback Security publish settings to both local and network - doesn't find the video either way.
It used to run fine in CS4 in the authoring environment.
I have some flash .FLV videos that I've posted to a clients website using the built-in Flash skins (Halo is what I'm using) My client would like to be able to see a moving buffer of how much video has downloaded so the viewers will know when the video is about to clip.Standard stuff but not sure if the built-in flash player for DW has that option Can anyone tell me if it does or not What would be the best way to get a buffer indicator (not pre-loader) into a flash player if not?

View 9 RepliesBasically the code below has been designed so that a video starts at 52 seconds (rather than the beginning) when you press play. It works good right now, starts where it's supposed to, but I want to change the code so that it autoplays the video starting at 52 seconds. The problem with this though, is that when I try and set it for autoplay, the video starts at the beginning and doesn't wait for it to load to 52 seconds before it autoplays. Any input on the coding? I need it just so that the autoplay doesn't kick in until the video is loaded to the 52 second point

i have an animated title that i would add some blood to roll across the title (as a flash movie clip) and then stop at a certain point - Forever!

This is what i have so far but the blood does not play then stop/pause when the blood reaches the bottom point of the title ( like its meant to) just the end frame of the blood on the title is displayed - no movement can this be done.
I would like to pause a frame for 5 seconds and resume play. My code is just not working out.

but can I stop every single movieclip (in all different levels) that are in my timeline?
if not, how can i stop movieclipA which is inside movieclipB which is on the main timeline?
Basically, I have a presentation movie with a few complexities to it.
1. The movie Plays, then waits an interval of time, then resumes (works alright)
2. The movie needs to have a pause button (that will pause the action) and a play button that will resume the action.
My problem: Once I pause and then hit play the play button ignores the "countdown" of setInterval and just "skips" ahead to the next part. I'm putting in a voice over and I really need that interval of time there or stuff will run into each other.

I have received a CD Rom with an .exe file on it. I only have an old Windows XP box (from 2001) but it doesn't play on it Is that possible? Do I need to find a vista box?houldn't these flash exe files be XP compatible? View 2 RepliesI'm working on a project that I want to export as a .avi file. I'm using Flash 8. I can go through the steps of exporting the movie fine, but once I try to play it in Windows Media Player, I get this error:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

After I updated Adobe flash player I noticed that videos I streamed did not play correctly.A video will begin to play but part way through it will freeze. It will indicate that it is buffering but it never finishes buffering and never continues to play, even if I refresh it.This occurs for several sites such as youtube, megavideo, and wisevid. This occurs for every browser I have tried (Firefox, IE, and Opera.) I also realized today that now iTunes cannot not download video either. When I try it says that parts of the files seem to be corrupted. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flash several times but that has not helped. I am using Adobe 10.1 (under version test it says it is WIN 10,1,53,64) and I have Windows 7

View 1 RepliesI have a very simple videoplayer, made much like the reference instructs with netstream and netconnection etc. It used a ordinary http stream (progressive download) I works, but sometimes when I pause the stream for a while and resume, it doesnt resume. I use stream.pause() and stream.resume(). Most of the time it works, but sometimes it doesn't. It's like the connection is being lost. Have anybody here tried the same, or does anyone know a way to tjek if the connection have been lost?

I am creating a little JavaScript music player that sits on the bottom of the page, a lot like streampad. But streampad uses a flash progress bar for the song and JavaScript for everything else and I am having a hard time finding anyone who does this with JavaScript alone.
View 4 RepliesIve imported an FLV into a Project. Some computers wont play the video back if the Flash Player is set to Full Screen. The screen goes black during Full Screen. If you set the player to regular, you can see the video playing (embedded into design) but once you set player to Full Screen the video plays on its own right at centre of screen. Im working on a Touch Screen Display that has the display set to Portrait mode. Im investigating if the display card is causing the problem.

At certain points within the film, the viewer has the ability to select from a few options that will direct them to an external video clip (they are flashback scenes). The main story pauses when the user selects a flashback scene and I'm clear on how to achieve this.
However, my issue is that once the flashback scene ends and the external video closes, I'm not sure how the main story will resume. Is it possible for it to auto-play (resume) in some way? My last resort would be to have the viewer select a play button - this is only because I do not want a break in the narrative and want to limit the amount of clicks the viewer has to make.
Get away from using flashs skin and use my own play and stop buttons progress bar.Be able to use an autoplay within the script and not use the parameters autoplay. using which is working fine. I just want to be able to have more control by being able to write code for the above activities.
