ActionScript 3.0 :: Making Communication Between A Flash File And A Php File
Feb 1, 2009
I need help with making communication between a flash file and a php file. I know how to target a php file, and get it to do what I want. I just don't know how to send the information back to the flash file from the php file.
I set up something using almost the same exact code as something else I got to establish communication between the flash file and a php file. But for some reason it's not working now. But the other one works, and the code is pretty much the same...
AS3 Code: submit_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, submit); function submit(event:Event):void { var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables(); var varSend:URLRequest = new URLRequest("[URL]"); varSend.method = URLRequestMethod.POST; [Code] .....
Yet every time I try it outputs the error message in the text field and the trace returns a undefined variable.
I have an application built with AutoPlay Media Studio which needs to be able to communicate with an embedded .swf, built in Flash CS3 with AS3. The APMS application needs to send a filename to the embedded flash. I've tried using flashvars but these don't seem to work from the APMS app. I've previously written the info to a text file in the app's folder so that both the APMS and the flash have a set relative path to the file. Now I'm tasked with making this work on a write-protected device, and I'm stumped as to where I could place the file and still be able to find it from the flash.
My first thought was the user's temp folder, but from another question I don't seem able to find that path from the flash. Where else could I put it and still have permission to write to it even if the user is not logged in as an administrator? The path needs also be in the same place on Win XP, Vista and 7.
Is it possible to make some kind of clickable object that resets a flash file? Say you're in a game and your character gets killed. By clicking on a button you you're taken back to the start of the flash file and all the variable reset to their starting positions. Basically I just want to make a button that reloads the flash file the same as hitting the reload button on your browser (except that it just reloads the flash file and not the entire web page).
I'm working on a Flash video slideshow (which you can preview here).
I would like to be able to make it so you can click a button (I've got one made in the doc already) that will make just the video on each "slide" go full screen, similar to how you can do so with other videos on sites like YouTube and others.
While what I've linked to above is just a template I'm messing with, I'd like to be able to have a video on the right, let's say, with text on the left, and then be able to click a button (perhaps under the video that says "full screen) and have the video that is there fill the whole window and play. And then, hitting escape would bring you back.
I've seen plenty of tutorials for making Flash go fullscreen, but nothing out there yet for just the FLV contained on the page go full screen.
how this site was made so that it fits every browser window completely, with no borders or distortion to the site? http:[url]....I want my site to fill the screen and the only way I know is 'exactfit' in the html but this stretches the file on certain browsers.
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
I recently finished my first little project and I wanted to send it to my friends so they can give me feedback; however, once they got the file (.swf and .html) all they recieved was a blank document. How can I save/publish my project so the graphics are displayed correctly on other people's computers that don't have the original files.I can provide additional informatin as needed.
this is my current cv, painstakenly written in flash: [URL] I was told that I can use an external data file and load this into a flash file with xml, i am trying to make an xml file that will do what you see here above. But i cannot get the information to load properly where each title is separate (bold) and the description underneath it (plain text). i cannot get my cv to show up in a linear format as it only shows the first entry and then stops.
StackOverflow community,[URL].. used to launch AIR applications from Flex applications requires the use of an air.swf file located here:[URL].. We have tried to download this SWF and use it in our internal network, but it is not working, we depend on using the one located in the Adobe site.
Is there anyway to use this air.swf file without having to access the Adobe site?
Occasionally when I load a file I will get an I/O error (according to the Try/Catch error that I traced). Is there any way to have it so that when I'm opening or closing a file that it will keep trying to load the file until it loads it 100% error-free?
Basically I'm trying to make an air app which contains a variety of different pages - I was under the understanding that each page would have its own class file, with everything being instantiated for that page within the class file.
If that is the case, then how would I make the transition from class to class and also remove the previous class so it doesnt take up memory?
I made a map for big shopping center in flash that uses tooltips to display the shop names when moused over. Is there anyways I can make a url(html) from any of those shops refer to its specific movie clip? I am askingt because the shops wishes that its customers or site visitors should easily see the location of the shop when they click " show shop location on map"
I am having trouble making a button load an external .swf file I have a made a flash file, and in the navigation; once a Button is pressed it should load another .swf file but I can't get the Button to load another .swf despite numerous attempts, and Google searches!!
This is just a part of the script, the whole thing will kinda look like a calendar, it will load certain dates from an XML file, cross-check them with the dates, and then it will mark them in a different way in the SWF. However this sample of code should just build arrays of days using the name of the month array, and days in it array.Later Im gonna check if dates from the xml match some dates in those arrays. If they will, it will change theyr apperance.
I'm making a script that will dynamically load JPG's from a file and will eventually display each JPG's thumbnail them side by side. I've got the code going and would like to know any suggestions for corrections.
[AS] // Importing Images p = 0; x = 20; y = 20;
[code]....
Right now I'm having troubles with the resizing of images: the if statement doesn't seem to work (or maybe resizing in flash distorts the images).
I am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.
package { import flash.display.DisplayObject; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.Loader; import flash.events.*; import flash.net.*; public class HelloWorldImage extends Sprite { private var background:DisplayObject, foreground:DisplayObject; private var url:String = "hw_jpg.jpg"; private var loader:Loader = new Loader( ); public function
If you have an .as file in the global include directory do you have to upload it to your server with the flash file or does it compile the flash file with the included info?
I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?
I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger).Here is the code that embeds the ammap:
Is there any "mainstream" library used for this purpose? Commonly spread, well maintained, documented etc.I found these (using flash):
Uploadify - not many releases, latest 12/2010, no documentation (!) SWFUpload - latest release 03/2010, documentation fancyupload - looks buggy.
phpfileuploader - looks heavyweight, and looks commercial (?) I cannot read the licence (you can download it but are you allowed to use it forever without paying?) plupload New version of pure javascript (no flash) Valums' ajax upload claims to handle file size limit and progress bar, which is quite suspicious to me: these features require to guess the file size before the upload, which seems impossible in javascript (look also here). Or can it work?
I need to find a way to detect keystrokes when the flash file is not selected and send that information to an .swf file. The file would be stored locally (not on the internet).
is there a simple way to just pull back a true or false value from an associated javascript file to a flash file? here is what i have:
Code: var bincheck:Boolean = fscommand("eval", "parent.check_bins(\'"+img+"\')"); if (!bincheck){return false;} return true;
check_bins(img) is a function in my javascript file that simply iterates through an array, returning false if "img" is found. im simply trying to get the true or false value back into flash, but its not proving that simple. i added a couple alerts so that i could see what the "bincheck" value was, and i keep getting an 'undefined' value for "bincheck" in flash.
how to pass variables from one Movie clip's AS file to my Main AS file. Let say my Movieclip's AS file is calling damage = 1; so how the Main AS file retrieve the damage value from the Movieclip's AS?
Code: public class robotMC extends MovieClip { public function robotMC() {
I have to work with a .fla file. I would like to rewrite this file in AS3. Is it possible? I mean, I would get a .swf file as result of compilation of mxml file in Flash Builder 4 IDE, not Flash CS5 (I don't know CS5, I'm a newbie) . Main target is getting a .swf file by compilation of mxml file, not fla file. Could you explain in detail how this code works? For example what's TXT ? Is it a inputText? Where is this variable defined? Now I 'm linking .fla file ....
