my remaining questions | What needs to happen as soon as the xml file is loaded? i.e. do i call a function which parses the xml data and puts it into an array? then the DateChooser component iterates thru the array looking for boolean values noting if there is an activity or not and if so, on which day. if it finds one, it sets its highlight property to true for that particular day. i'm setting up the xml file correctly.

Sep 3, 2009I have written code to read an XML file by using URLRequest and URLLoader in ActionScript 3.0. Code is pasted below. This runs well in AS3.Problem I am facing is because I wrote this in AS3, I am not able to use the DateChooser component in another part of the flash module because it seems like DateChooser component is not supported in AS3. So I want to migrate my below AS3 code back to AS2.

Sep 12, 2007The AS2 DateChooser has just the functionality I need to build the events calendar that I have to build .. however .. while I know what to do in theory, I'm stumbling on (a) whether it will work and (b) syntax.
I want to display an instance of the DateChooser (myDate) and access the selectedDate property when the user selects a date. Then I need to pass it to the main events page preferably on the same page with something like this:
SELECT EventTitle. EventDescription, EventLink FROM Events
WHERE EventDate = MMColParam
MMColParam 1 myDate.selectedDate
The page itself is ASP. I am thinking I would probably define a variable and perhaps use LoadVars to load the selected date from Flash .. not something I have done before.
Perhsps something like
dim eventDate
eventDate = myDate.selectedDate
I'm sure that's not the syntax .. but I think that is the theory. I should be able to access the selectedDate property of the Date Chooser instance and feed the date into the query to select the events on that date and list them.
Flex :: DateChooser Component, 42 Days, Show Days Of Previous/next Month?
Jun 5, 2011On the DateChooser component, it shows the days for only the current month... but i'd like to show some of the previous month's days and some of the next month's days.Is there a property to set on the DateChooser component to show 42 days. I mean, to show some of the previous month's days + the current month's days + some of the next month's days. I'm not sure what this is called...If you look at a typical month calendar, for example for June 2011 it shows:

Is there a property that I've overlooked which shows some of the days from the prev. month and next month in the current month view? Or would I need to extend the DateChooser component and override a method?

May 8, 2008I need only a little bit to finish something that I am doing.I make a calendar, using Flash and AmfPHP, the calendar load the reservations informations in a MySql table. After the flash movie, takes the information relating to the reserved days of the calendar, and then, the calendar would have to take the information of the MySQL table, the column of (date visits) for deactivate, the previous selected date by others users.I´m using this code:
Either how I have to pass the information stored in the table(Date Visits), to the calendar in order that it deactivates the dates stored in the database?

Aug 2, 2010I want a to user a DateChooser to allow a user to select a date in a given month and year. I want to set the month and year programmatically and only allow the user to select the date/day. I can do this for the year easily by setting the minYear and maxYear to whatever year I want, but I am not seeing a strait forward way of disallowing the user to select a different month?

Flex :: Date - Make DateChooser Show SelectedDate?
May 26, 2011I got a Problem with my DateChooser. When clicking the control directly it highlights the date as it should. When selecting the date programmatically it won't show.

trace tells me, that date and _view.dcMiniCalendar.selectedDate carry the correct values. I already tried to use _view.dcMiniCalendar.invalidateDisplayList() (and some other invalidate functions as well) but neither with nor without them I get that date to be shown selected in the control.
Flex :: 3 DateChooser Control - Date Selection Changes On MouseUp Event
Dec 13, 2010If you have a DateChooser control next to a text control and you left click your mouse to select the text then continue holding down the mouse button and letting the mouse button up while over the datechooser control, the selectedDate value changes to the date you are hovering over. I have users that are having issues with this and it happens unintentionally because of the proximity of the two controls. I cannot find a way to stop this effect. Basically I would want the selectedDate to only change if the user actually clicks the calendar control ie. mouseDown or click. Calling functions in those events do not change this behavior. I need a way to disable the control from changing the date on the mouseUpEvent (I think).

What I actually want for my arrows is a transparent background, with borderthickness to be 2, and the arrows and bordercolor to be #062338. Also if I can make the width and height of the arrow itself a bit bigger then what it is as default.

Flash :: Swap MXML Component In Application From Another Component?
Apr 13, 2011I am trying to create my first real world Flex application. I will have a lot of different data entry / data view screens so I thought I would create many different components to deal with each different type of data that was being returned. I have a MXML application called Layout, and have component called "Navigator" which controls the menu, as well as a ViewStack called "MainContent".
I want the Navigator component to change the ViewStack on the Layout application to that of another Component (each Component is embedded within the Canvas of each ViewStack). I have a click handler on my Navigator which looks like this: Layout.ContentFrame.selectedChild=event.itemRenderer.data.clickValue; However it shows the error "Access of possibly undefined property ContentFrame through a reference with a static type Class." Is my approach a good way of doing it? I have attempted referencing it using FlexGlobals.Layout and topLevelApplication.Layout... neither of which work?[URL]

Jun 23, 2011I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?

Nov 11, 2010I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they,for now are itemrenderers.
