Im always encountering this same bug since I got Flash CS5 everytime I open multiple files on Flash, my instance names lock in this case I have to restart flash and pray the instance names wont lock up again... It's really getting annoying because I could be working on up to 10 files at a time which forces me to individually open each file everytime I start my project.

I am brand new to Flash and I am completely unsure on how to diagnose and resolve the problems I am having.I am in an online program through the Art Institute and I am currently taking a course to learn the basics of Flash.I am running Flash from CS4 on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 and I am having problems opening some of the .fla files that people post. One of two things happens, either:
(1) when I try to open the .fla file I get an pop-up alert (below) and if I click OK the file doesn't open (and clicking OK is my only option, as you see);
(2) I go to open the .fla file and it appears to be opening but then the screen is blank and I get two error reports in the Output pane which says:"VerifyError: Error #1053: Illegal override of isRelatedObjectInaccessible in .RemappedMouseEvent.ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable_ e9a7 52f233536079fc4486d6ac92a1b05a633a5657d5b83ad7fac2246298 b191_flash_ display_ Sprite is not defined."I tried installing all available updates for Flash and that did not solve it. I also tried opening the same .fla files on my husbands MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.8 running CS4 and got the same problems.
I'm trying to get a .swf (a game, with three total .swf files: main, title, game) onto my site and am having a problem. I understand how to actually do it and make it run (publish as HTML, copy/paste code in Dreamweaver, etc..), but my problem is having multiples .swf files and them not loading. When I embed code for one of the files, the page will play that .swf file and won't load the next .swf file (Main just contains a loader that loads title, Title will load the game .swf when prompted, Game will run). If I just 2x click the .swf files in my folder it will work, as will an .exe, but can I make it so each .swf file will play in HTML?

All my old files work when working in Actionscript 2.0 but then when I try and open using AC 3.0 everything dissapears but still remains selectable. The is no old actionscript in the file at all, so I thought maybe it somthing to do with the movieClips.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating an interactive flash application that uses hundreds of individual renders from a 3d modelling app. The image file size is 800 x 600. Each sequence that i import to the stage is around 120 images and each gets put into a separate key frame. The problem is, often when I import batches of files into flash the program crashes and stops responding.The problem gets worse after each succesful import ie. after importing the first lot of files, its unlikely that the second lot of files will importInterestingly, I dont have this problem on my pc.

I am wondering, how can I play this as a list; like a playlist, and then loop back to restart? I'd like to do this in the stand alone player however it can only seem to load 1 file at a time. How I might look to accomplish this looping playlist?
View 1 RepliesI have a drop down menu whereby the clicking of a button causes it to move to a specific keyframe in the timeline. I also have multiple buttons which load external swf files.The problem is when i navigate to the drop down menu the loaded external files keep dissapering because they are not on the keyframe where the drop down menu is actuated. Is there any way of coding it so that which ever swf file is loaded remains there whilst the drop down menu moves to its specific stage in the timeline?

My boss is unwilling to buy CS5. Is it truly so that you cannot open a CS5 project in CS4 or is there a way to adjust a project in both systems.
View 2 RepliesI am new flash developer, and inherited a project which has 4 fla project files. When it runs inside a browser, it appears "window" which occupies whole browser. This project is write in Flash CS3. I have few questions:
1). When loading main swf file, 3 other swf files are also loaded. These swf files are communicating with each other through message. When debug the mail swf with CS3, I can set breakpoint and the program can stop only at limited AS files. My questions is how to debug other AS files in other swf file?
2) I used CS5. It seems that I can stop at more AS files, which does not belong to main swf file. Why?
My questions is should I use CS5, which might makes debugging easier? Is it right direction to go to debug multiple swf? (For CS5, I need to fix some code in order to make the program fully working as CS3)
3) What's best tool to use for such project since CS3 is very old. Should I use Flash builder, Flex. Amethyst?
I'm working on a portfolio in Flash CS3 and AS3. I'm trying to avoid doing the whole thing in Flash, so the home page is a CSS/HTML header page that will house a looping flash piece underneath the header, and the inner portfolio will be flash pieces brought into the same CSS header framework.I'd like to know what kind of code I need to use in the portolio flash navigation so that the "home" link will open the CSS/HTML home page in its same window, rather than launching another window. Is this something that can be done using AS3, or do I need javascrpt as well?

We prefer not to simply use the html file which may be easier for what we want. Is it possible to open the movie from an HTML link? I'm guessing no.

1) files are excrutiatingly slow to open, close, save, and switch between
2) I currently have a series of about 15 files open and I'm trying to close them - I click "don't save" but the files won't close - it's like I've clicked cancel. I have removed the external media these files were originally on, but if not trying to save the file, why can't Flash just close them and make them go away?

What I want to achieve is to be able to be running a .swf file that I've coded using actionscript, and to click a button in there and have it bring up my computer's finder window (or the my computer/documents/whatever you want to call it on a windows) so you can bring in a file from on the computer. If that's a bit vague, I want to be able to add music to a library (like iTunes) .. Basically. All I want to know is if it's possible to open a file from outside the swf and put it on the stage.
I'd also like to know if it's possible to... save (for lack of a better word) the files that are on the .swf so that the next time you open it they're still there.
I hope someone here can help me figure out why my Flash CS4 on a Mac 10.6.2 machine crashes unexpectedly every time I open a file. (I have posted the entire crash log below) The program will open, and even stay open when I choose a .fla file for about 5-10 seconds and then CRASH every time. For what it's worth, all my other design collection programs work fine.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalled the Flash app., but it didn't do anything. I have also tried deleting all preference files and application support files in my user, and the problem persists.Does anyone have any ideas? View 3 Repliesmy organization is in the process of building a touchscreen interactive kiosk. We've designed a flash application to run on the kiosk to display information about our business, our publications, etc. We'd also like to be able to access our website through the flash application. We're having trouble figuring out how to do that effectively. The best we can do is to have the application launch Internet Explorer in a seperate window. This isn't so bad if we run IE in kiosk mode, however it becomes difficult/impossible to navigate back to the flash application (or to close the browser) without a mouse and keyboard (which users won't have access to).Wondering if there's a way to open or access a browser inside of the actual flash application, so users can access the flash menu, home buttons, etc and easily navigate back to the information contained in the rest of the flash application.

I am using Chinese /Japanese text in this Now the problem is that when i run it in the flash it loads those pages and when i load it in the browser then that file doesn't load anything.

I've tested it with about 5 different file types and it only seems to work if the url String begins with "http://". Even local htm/ html files don't open.
I'm using a var and an Array code on an empty move clip. The code is set on an "Actions" layer. The code checks good.
