Ive got some external HTML text being fed into flash, all I want to do is to edit the <li> tag in the HTML (not CSS) so the bullets sit flush to the left with the rest of the text, thats it! is there something i can put in the HTML that will resolve this such as:

View 2 RepliesI have solved my remote linking from an external html, to specific swf frame problem. But now, as usual another problem has reared its ugly head. I have a button(s) with a spotlight animation effect in the "over state". It works fine on the "home" page, smooth and clean, but when you link to a frame in the timeline, once in that frame the spotlight effect stills shows up when mouseover, but becomes erratic and very jittery.[URL].. Once there, if you click on about, events, or news, and load any of those pages/frames, you should see the spotlight flicker on mouseover on all buttons
View 6 RepliesI have two flash pages, one black and one green, and I need the html background color to change accordingly. What I think I need to do is code the button to change the b/g color.

but for some reason it's not working.
It might be a securities issue, it opens up the page asking me if I want to run the JS. When I click 'yes' it opens up the page but the background color is the same. So while it opens the page it might not be running the script?
or, I'm not putting the JS in the right area of the html code. Right now I'm putting it after the first <head>.
Is java script my only option? a friend mentioned using css, but I have nothing to go off of as to how to make that work.

So i would like to set the buttons action to send a javascript variable or something like that. This way the html content, above the flash could change with a javascript include which would use this variable to know what page should be included... something like that. I don't know how to do this (flash to javascript and the use the variable to include a page content)

Is it possible to change the HTML, or even run javascript into an HTML component after load?
I would of course need to have a listener, and when it fires, then do... something.

I am new to flash and decided to start out using templates to gain a beter understanding. I grabbed a template - that when I went to save it said it was an MX version - once I began to make changes in it re-save and publish it I noticed that some of the elements were missing. I thought it was something I did so I copied the entire directory and just opened the .fla and saved it without making a change and then published it and the items were gone again. I saved it in the same directory only changing the output .swf file and used all of the same html files

View 1 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.

I am new to Flash and was trying to start a website for my photography business. I have an up and running version of Flash Pro CS4 with all updates. I purchased a full flash template from [URL] hoping to just open the .fla file and go to work editing. No such luck. When I click on the main.fla file, all the components seem to load in the library, however in the timeline, I only show like 9 random layers. When I run the timeline, all I get is a bunch of lines, squares, etc running on and off the stage. When I click "publish" the layers and components run fine with all the default content. The template came in a ZIP file and after extracting, I get the usual files, .fla, .html, .XML, .SWA, etc. All the components seem to be in the .fla file. What am I missing? I know there should be more layers in the timeline, but I cant find them. My troubleshooting has been to confirm that the template is good with CS4 and ActionScript 3.0. I've tried different settings to include changing the pixel size, but nothing.

I am on mac and haven't upgraded my OS from 10.5 to 10.6 so when I upload a file creted in Flash CS5 it won't play because it needs the Latest flash player which uses 10.6 OS.So what I'm getting to is that can I go into "publish" settings and change the Flash player from 10.2 to an older version and then will this work.Also, which version should I change it to? For example sould I select Flash Player 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 10.1?

I was wondering how to access the <title> tag so that I can create a variable in flash, that retrieves whatever string is within the <title> tag of the current xml document that is being accessed? All pages need to have the same title, so it doesn't need to be too complicated, I just need to be able to alter the tag through xml and as3.
