I must have hit a button or something. Every brush stroke I paint is automatically converted into a symbol. I don't want this. How do I turn it off?

View 1 RepliesHere is an odd question, can I tile a graphic symbol in my library along a path or apply it as a stroke somehow? In Illustrator you can select an item, go to the brushes palette, select new brush, new brush pattern. Is the same functionality available in flash (even programmatically)?

View 7 RepliesI've seen alot of instructions online on how to assign a hyperlink to an image. Alot of them say to convert the image to a symbol first and then add the appropriate Actionscript code (getUrl). I'm just wondering if there is a way to do it without converting it to a symbol (converting it to a symbol seems to add an artifact to one of the borders of the pic). Does anyone know if this can be done? Or must all images be converted to symbols to get links assigned to them?

I want to apply a stroke to multiple frames. use the ink bottle, and do not suggest turning my symbol into a movie clip and adding a glow. This seems like it should be a simple function
View 1 RepliesWhen I try to use the deco brush in CS5 some of the properties are not there to tweak. For instance when I try to flower brush it creates flowers but the advanced options are not changable. The categories such as Flower color, Flower size, Leaf color Leaf size and Fruit color are there but there are no options to change any of these. The same issue happens with the lightning brush, the Tree brush, the smoke brush, the decorated brush, the fire brush and just about any brush except for the grid brush which has options to use a symbol. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a way to get the settings to be invoked? Is it just broken?

This person also told me that there is somewhere in which you can view said ActionScript as it's being executed. How can I do this? I deem such a feature necessary to do the projects I have been given, especially having very little experience with AS.
View 1 RepliesI made an animation on the main stage and I need to convert it to a movieclip but Im having an issue. The animation consists of 3 layers one of which is a classic motion guide. Another layer is a ball that follows the guide.

But when I play the movieclip my ball no longer follows the guide. Is it possible to convert an animation with a guide layer to a symbol?
Has anyone else noticed this oddness? example: create something, covert to symbol button. now change it to type Movieclip. (not nested, just change its type) In the library and properties it correctly shows as type Movieclip, however if you double click in to it, it shows as button.
I just noticed now if you add/remove it from stage, it updates correctly.

I have an issue with my Cintiq not drawing smoothly in Flash. I need to sketch incredibly fast and loose. Flash used to work just fine but now it suddenly began drawing really crummy. I posted some examples of flash as well as Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and ToonBoom Animate Pro which is another vector graphics tool. I thought the vector graphics may be the issue but that app seems to handle the drawing excellently (now if only it did the other things Flash can do). Here's some examples of how they're looking. It may be hard to tell in these already loose sketches but the performance drop is really a big difference in responsiveness between Flash vs the other apps here:[code]Does anyone know why my cintiq is causing flash to draw so poorly? View 4 Repliesbit of a noob at flash, so I've been having a bit of a difficulty in using the pencil/brush tool in drawing an animation. I set a keyframe, and paint a yellow stroke. Then i continue onto the next key. I then go back to the first keyframe, and want to paint a black stroke over part of the yellow stroke i made earlier.
after selecting this first frame (making the layer active), I go to change the stroke color of the brush to black but find that it now changes my yellow stroke (which I want to keep yellow) to black. I see that in selecting the frame, by default whatever strokes were made on this frame are also selected (which I don't want). So I'd like to know how do I avoid altering my previous stroke and still put a different colored stroke overlapping it on the same frame?
also is it possible to append a brush/pencil stroke to an old brush/pencil stroke?
I'm doing some masking with the brush tool. Each keyframe I'm drawing a bit more of the mask. My problem is if I go back to the first keyframe and paint something it doesn't appear on the other keyframes.I thought I found the solution with Edit Multiple Frames, but it doesn't seem to work with the brush tool.

I don't know if an engine is made in AS3, PHP, Javascript, or whatever,I made my game already, it's just that it isn'tmultiplayer yet. Basically, there are lines, and each player crosses out a number of lines, and the last player to cross out a line is the loser. I want it where one user crosses out some lines, then presses End Turn, then the other does their turn and then presses End Turn to allow the other player to move his cursor. But how can I get both players to see the same frame and only have one player have the ability to move the cursor during a turn? Is there some easily adaptable multiplayer engine for flash for newbies out there

I have been using code snippets to link the different frames. I have created an animation that I would like to play when the user gets to the conclusion (I will use the 'click to go to frame and play' code snippet) but how can I turn the animation file into a single frame or object but still function as a animation. I tried saving as a SWF and drag into my project so it could appear as a object but it only plays in another window.

Unfortunately, some objects sometimes disappear while breaking the object down, which means that we have to do some actual touchup work in Flash.

I've tried the export movie command in the file menu, changing various settings in the publish settings in Flash and and in the Quicktime options boxes. However I realized that my application needs to be able to use the File system, which means I'll need to use AIR's API. View 4 RepliesUnder the stroke properties before or after I draw a line, I set it to NORMAL but when I re-select the line, it keeps changing it back to NONE. Some how it is now the default and I cannot change it I have tried opening new documents from scratch but I still cannot get it back to scale normally. All the lines are inside movie clips and these movie clips need to scale properly.
