I'm creating a fill-in-the-blank quiz in AS 2.0 and would like to make the comparison between the correct and submitted answer a little less harsh during the comparison. The quiz actually consists of memorizing a sentence or two from say a poem and I'd like to not include any errors of punctuation due to a misplaced or missed comma, exclamation pt or period. as long as the spelling is good then the user should get the correct answer. Below is a little snippet:

The following are two screenshots of something I'd like to create:
Notice how each 'blank' is a drop-down menu. If a user selects the correct one the text in the drop-down becomes green and a box appears at the bottom that tells them they got it right. As soon as they go to select a new one the box disappears and re-appears with a message saying either they got the next one right or wrong. If they get it wrong it turns red. There is no backend data that needs to be processed; it's just the interaction I want to create.
how I might go about doing this in Flash/ActionScript?
I know how to create the interface itself I believe with the drop-down component but I have no idea how to program this.

I'm trying to create a very simple flash:An input text field, in which the viewer is to enter a simple word (in this case, let's say the word is "earth.") Beneath this text field is a button.When the button is clicked, flash should detect whether the user entered the word "earth"- if they entered "earth", they get sent to frame 2 of this movie. If they typed something else, then they get sent to frame 3.Now, this should be pretty simple, but every attempt I've made has failed, and every search for a simple tutorial/example of how to compose the script meets with no results. Currently, this is the script I put on the button (The input text field has been given the instance name of "answer_1"):[code]

A new method is dynamic fills. Say I have a drawing that is only outlines (and located in it's own movieclip)... is there a way to fill in the blank areas with specified colors? Here is an example:
This must also leave the black stroke untouched.

I have made a quiz from mixing and matching from various tutorials of the internet, and now want to make the questions (multiple choice) and possibly the answers appear shuffled. The xml looks like this:
<quiz>
<title>Quiz</title>
<items>
<item>
<question>In which continent is the country Japan located?</question>
<answer correct="y">Asia</answer>
<answer>Europe</answer>
<answer>Africa</answer>
<answer>America</answer>
</item>
and here is what I've got so far with the actionscript!

Adobe Flash also lets users make interactive Flash quiz. This tutorial will guide you how to create interactive drop-down multiple-choice quiz in Adobe Flash. This short tutorial is just a sample of the workflow you'll use while authoring in Adobe Flash CS4.
Step 1 - Create a new document
a. Choose File > New.
b. In the New Document dialog box, selcet Flash File (ActionScript 2.0) and then Click OK.
Step 2 - Document settings Right-click on the stage, selcet Document Properties, then the Document Properties dialog box appears. It displays the current Stage size setting as 550*400 pixels, and the Background color swatch is set to white. You can change the size and color of the Stage as you want.
Step 3 - Import image to the stage Choose File > Import > Import to Stage, and then select the image you want. You also could click Ctrl+R to import image.
Step 4 - Add the multiple choice question to the Stage
a. Select the Text tool (T).
b. In the Property inspector (Window > Properties), select Static Text type to specify the type of text field, and then input the question " What was Michael's first song to air on MTV? ". You also could set the font size, family and color of the text.
Step 5 - Add ComboBox component
a. Select Window > Components.
b. Double-click ComboBox in the Components panel.
c. Select the component on the Stage, and name the instance name as box in the properties panel.
Step 6 - Add answer options
a. Select Window > Component Inspector. On the Component Inspector, click data, then the Value dialog box appears.
b. Click + to add answer options, and then replace the defaultValue as answer options, here the options are: thriller, billie jean, bad and the way you make me feel. After that, click OK.
c. On the Component Inspector, click labels, then the Value dialog box appears. Please following the same steps above to add the values by adding the + button.
[code]...
If that's too complicate to you, you could choose some 3rd party quiz makers to make multiple choice quiz for you. Wondershare QuizCreator is such a good Flash quiz maker that help you create multiple Flash quiz with ease.

I'm well & tired of the volume of crashes from Flash CS5. Some are more predictable, like now every time I try to import an FLV it's crashing, so I'll try repairing permissions, and rebooting the computer. Some are more random, like I'm moving something in the Library and it'll just crash out. It's really a terrible experience working in the Flash IDE. I love Actionscript 3, and the Flash Player seems pretty stable. But my God, what do you do when Flash starts bugging out?

Everytime I attempt to import anything into Flash CS4 the application crashes. This happens when I try to import a single 14.0 KB file.I have tried to run in compatability mode but it crashes there too. I am currently running Windows XP SP3 and Adobe Flash CS4 version 10.0.2. I have tried to import them into an existing document as well as into a new document with the same issues. The import screen never pops up, there is a quick flash over the application screen and then the "The application Adobe Flash CS has unexpectedly quit" window appears.I need to do this multiple times through out the day to updates sites, and I am at a standstill until I can get this fixed.I know this happens alot and I hope there is somethign other than reinstalling to get it working again.

I've been working with Flash CS5 for the last few months, using it for animation, on an iMac 2.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, Mac OS 10.6; Once the files start becoming heavy Flash starts acting up, crashing frequently, freezing up, and takes too long to save (almost a minute or more!) I've been told that Adobe products aren't working 100% with Snow Leopard; is this normal? i have all the updates, both from Apple and Adobe; Is there any kind of bug fix, any of the sort that I can download?

I have a project that loads SWFs as "slides". I'm running into a problem where I have some very large SWFs that use shared resources within each other. I would prefer not to post my source (because there is a TON of it ...if you've worked with SCORM, you know), but basically, the project is setup to use a "master" SWF to load in children SWFs. Those children SWFs can be quite large due to one specific symbol in the libraries that each share. This symbol is about 5MB in size and is used in several of the "slides". I want to be able to load this symbol into memory and use it across all the slides that need it so the user doesn't have to download tons of 5+MB files.
I am able to create a movieClipLoader object and a container for the object and load the SWF that is just the symbol object I need to share. I am attempting to put it in the _global namespace for use later. When I do this though, the library seems to switch to this new loaded SWF (this shared object) and I cannot access the library objects from the parent slide. So, the slide that is using this shared symbol must load up, start to download the SWF for shared use, then it must be able to load objects from it's own library to continue on. Maybe I'm going about this all wrong, but when I have several SWFs that all use this shared symbol, and I have to compile that symbol into each SWF, it only hurts the user that has to download all these large SWFs.

Using Flash CS3, having issues getting flash to send quiz results to a LMS. Using the Flash quiz templates, exporting with SCORM 1.2 compliance. The LMS is able to track times attempted and if the lesson was complete or not, however the quiz results don't reach the LMS.
I think this can be resolved in the actionscript or the javascript that gets exported with the HTML file Apparently you can control the javascript functions with FScommands from actionscript Something like fscommand ("LMSSetValue","cmi.core.score.raw" + "," + integer); I don't know where in the actionscript this should be triggered from.

I use Hikari a C++ library which allow to display flash control in a texture for the Ogre 3D Engine. I have a flash control which play a sound (.mp3) when I set a param (param = 0 with arg = 1022). The string I sent to raw_CallFunction() is:
"<invoke name="SetParam" returntype="xml"><arguments><string>0</string><string>1022.000000</st ring></arguments></invoke>"
It works very well. But when I close the application, it crashes, even if the sound of the .mp3 is finished. It crashes only is an .mp3 sound have been played (all other setparams and getparams do not crash the application). I have the same problem with different flashes, and with different sounds. I don't think the source of the problem come from the Hikari library, but I think it come from the way i close the flash control. Is there something to do when I close the application after having played an mp3 in a flash control? A function to call?

I've got a large(at least I assume it's large, ~200meg) flash file I'm working with that upon saving, it goes into the dreaded "(Not Responding)" mode. Is this a symptom of being such a large file? It's image intensive--I can try reducing the image quality--or is there something else I'm missing?I'm on a toshiba laptop, using the latest version of windows.

Since the beginning of nov.2010, it crashes after some time of use. More precisely the toolbar disappears, then reappears, some GUI elements blink. It's not related to a specific user action. When this happens, closing flash is difficult (the window remains here). When switching to another app, some Flash parts remains The graphical memory seems saturated. Launching another app is met with a window error message. A windows restarts becomes necessary.This problem arises only in Flash, and with no other apps from CS3 suite.2 colleagues of mine has the same issue, also in the last weeks (= nov 2010). We work in separate places. We didn't exchange files.We are on Win XP Home Edition, Dell computer.They have more recent PCs than mine (which clearly meets the CS3 requirements), with enough memory,etcOne colleague has reinstalled winXP. The problem arised again, but I don't kow when. He also tried CS4 and CS5 and had the same problem.Today he un-installed all Adobe products with this utility:
