View 1 RepliesI used to have flash on my computer but yesterday it asked me to get the latest version and directed me to the download site.I opted out of the free virus protection,I have my own. I tried to download the flash program and it ends up not responding and thus I have to stop all open pages etc.It even happens when it is the only page open.I have Norton and F-Secure and ran both of them looking for viruses etc and found none.
View 3 RepliesI boot up Flash CS4 and all I see in the upper left corner are the three dots for Apple's Snow Leopard interface. Flash was working fine yesterday, then last evening, all I got were the three dots. The menus are there. They open, but they are acting flakey. I can open up a file, but none of the palettes or interface show up. The stage is located under Apple's menu bar at the 0,0 location of the monitor and unmovable.
I deleted the preference files from my user library and also a file called "Flash 10 mru". That didn't do a thing.
The only change I made yesterday was an upgrade Adobe supplied for Premiere.
I also upgraded to Snow Leopard over the old Leopard, rather than a clean install.
But Flash was working fine on it for a month before yesterday's three dots attack.
Flash CS3 works fine.
Flash CS4 works fine on my laptop with Snow Leopard.
This morning, I uninstalled the old and reinstalled a new copy. Really at a loss as to what to do.
I was thinking of doing a clean install of Snow Leopard on a new hd and starting over. Before I do all that, I was hoping there was an easier fix.

When importing the .flv file of the video into the Flash project, I chose the imbedding method. I realize this increases the size of the overall .swf file when doing so. On the first watch (before the file is cached) it tends to pause while loading and/or jumps. I've tried other methods (like choosing the file has already been deployed to a web server, and play methods such as progressive download from a web server, stream from a Flash video streaming service, and stream from a Flash communication server). When choosing those other methods, the video loads nicely but the audio sounds a bit more distorted while playing. So, at present, I'm using the embed video in SWF and play in timeline option. Does anyone have any other suggestions to improve the video buffer speed, performance and the overall loading and quality of the Flash file? I'm still using Flash Professional 8.
I have a SWF that is 7mb and I don't want it to start loading until someone actually clicks on it to play it. I don't want it to load on opening the browser because it slows the page draw too much.The SWF is already set to load and then require a click to begin playing.

View 5 RepliesI am posting this because I purchased a package on FlashComponents.net, and spent 167 dollars on a set of flash components that were suppose to be easy to install and highly customizable. I messaged the creater of this package, snowcat, but he does not reply to my inquiries on why it does not work.
What I thought might be wrong was what I changed in the xml file, so I uploaded the entire folder from stock. the index.html page worked, however as soon as i copied the source code into my page I wanted to to actually play in. It does not even show, when I right-click the area in which it is suppose to be it says "Movie not loaded...".
I literally copied and pasted, there were no changes to the code whatsoever from the working one. After that I continued to try to arrange it the way I wanted it to be anyways, storing the source files in a folder of the site rather than having it in the root of the file. This folder is "index_banner" The developer DID have a posting about that issue on his website which I read four times to make sure that somehow that was not the culprit either.
Below is the code for the page; I am hoping I inadvertantly messed something up because then my 167 dollars is not wasted. But with the lack of support for a supposed "well documented" package it is a little disheartening.

isn't that I can't get the XML data (the Pragma and Chach-Control header, when you get a "Error in loading data") because I can load a Excel file with html data. I get a Movie not loaded error instead, like if that IE can't load the swf file.I tested the application on another computer with https on IE and that didn't work, but it do work on regular http in IE.
Other than using small files, what are some techniques used to load a site/swf faster?

I created a simple Flash app that shows a menu on the side with 2 movie choices. Each movie choice is supposed to play a different movie. The whole thing works just fine on my local machine but when I upload to the test server, the movies never start. Near as I can tell the SWF loads and functions fine but the movies dont work... constant loading bar. Of course, I want them to stream in a YouTube-like fashion. I've fought with this for some time, tried .FLV files directly in DW (no joy there either) so I'm stuck. If I replace the movies with images, the SWF functions just fine. Just can't seem to do the movies.
View 3 RepliesI have continued to find a resolution and have had no luck. My website has 5 flash buttons (tabs) to take you to a new html page. Each time you go to a page the button seems to have to re-load creating a "white blinking" inside the cell. The background of the fla file is black and I have the table cell background set to black hoping thatbut to no avail. I thought once a swf is loaded it won't have to re-load. The swf files are the same on all pages

(underneath the nav bar)It seems that the wmode / transparent is causing it.If I remove wmode - it loads fine in ie.ut I need the transparent / wmode for the drop down menu to work (so its visible while the flash file is there.)

View 5 RepliesI just created a basic flash file to play a video on my web page and it's taking several minutes to load before it starts playback. I'm using progressive downlaod and the file is in *.mov format and is 84MB in size. At first that seemed large to me for web play back, but I thought it could handle it since I thought the way progressive download works is that it would start playing the first frame right away and progressively play other frames as they download. However, this seems to be downloading the whole file first (or a major part of it) before starting any playback at all.
Is there some kind of setting I'm missing or is my understanding of the download incorrect and the file size is too large? Some vitals: I'm using Flash Pro CS5 - To create my flash file, I used the standard import video wizard and selected the a file that is "on my computer" and "load external video with playback component" and then, I selected one of the standard skins.- To deploy the vidoe on my webiste I have three files:
1) swf file containing the FLV component
2) the swf file related to skin
3) the actual video (84MB, mov file) - Web page includes/embeds reference to swf file
I converted a mov into flv and imported the flv with playback component. When I publish, I am able to see both (via the swf and the html) from my browser. Once I uploaded the swf and html onto my webserver (both files are stored in the same folder just like how I had it locally), the swf won't display the video.Now, I have a button (when clicked, it skips the playback and go directly to the site) and the button works fine. So, I think it is only limited to the video playback.

The issue is if I use the browser's back button I'll eventually get to a page that just shows the full loadbar and stops. It is the the page that I have labeled "$/". I would like the button to load an external SWF file called "shopsMovie.swf" which is exactly 620 pixels wide by 464 pixels high. The external SWF file is already built and working well. I just don't know how to call it from the current SWF.The code I have so far is below.
