Are flash applications forced to use a browser's set proxy.
Such as a proxy that has been set on foxy proxy.Or will it be treated as a separate application that can see the user's real IP address.
I'm almost certain this is possible, but am not sure how to go about it.
Basic idea: User visits a website using a HTTP/socks proxy. Hidden .swf file is embedded on the site which, when loaded by the client, sends data back to the web server, and that allows the IP to be logged along with a corresponding session ID of some sort which ties the proxy IP and the true IP together.
My question is how would I go about doing this in flash? I've searched for examples, but all I've managed to find on the subject is people claiming that it's possible to do.
I'm trying to upload images with Uploadify but I run into IO error. I have gotdemo and it works on my computer, so I decided to implement functionality of my application to this example step by step to catch the error and discovered that the reason of IO error is my local proxy.pac (I use FF):

We use socket library to connect remote HTTP server. It is nice to read web proxy setting to connect to HTTP proxy instead of directly to HTTP server.
I use Flash Air to develop iOS games. It would be nice to be able to launch a browser from within your applications.

This just opens a new AIR-browser window and that's not what I'm looking for. I'd like it be opened inside a browser frame (even if downloaded first) much like a plain swf file.
I know air file is more or less plain zip, so maybe I could unpack it? What AIR features shouldn't I use for this to work?

Although they have put the forced GC under a Try/Catch block. Flash Player 11 still manages to crash on it. Any ideas about this?

I'm trying to use JMeter to test our web application and I'd like to use an automated recording of tests but our UI is in flash/flex. Is there any way to get the proxy server to cooperate with the flash/flex? I do have control of both the client and server sides, though rewriting our application to redirect the flash/flex calls to another address isn't really an option. If there were an automated way...
I'm currently testing Windows client and server, but I also need to support testing on Linux client and server. If tests need to be created on one or the other and can be ported to both I could live with that.
I am working behind a proxy and some of the flash uploaders out there require me to authenticate myself on the local proxy before allowing me to upload files. I have such an uploader which currently is outside my network. However after it tryes to execute file.upload(request); it dies silently without a trace of what is going on. I presume that it fails because it hasn't requested the proxy auth. How can I show the proxy auth login pop-up. Here's a sample of my code

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to get a JSON response from an API into Flash using a PHP proxy (and decoding in as3 using as3corelib), and I can't figure out how to test this.
If I run an html/js file that is using the proxy to get the same data, it works, so I know that there aren't errors in my php file.
If I use my as3 to directly call and parse data from a different API (not using a proxy), I can get the data ok.
But if I run my swf trying to connect to the proxy file and get results, nothing happens. I'm not really sure how to trace what's going wrong. I assume I have to test the swf on the server? Or does just the php file need to be on the server and I can test the swf locally (this would be WAY easier)?

I have had a long post somewhere on here and just wanted to start a specific post on just associative arrays. First of all I have an array which I don't know if it's an array or an associative array or an object or both. ie: I read that the below would be an object but works as an array too.
The problem is when I use this array as references to instantiate classes in a runtime shared library.I seem to be able to create the appropriate arrays and objects BUT I definately can't use/acess them properly. I massive confusion between movieclips and objects. I get a forced conversion error when I try to add objects to a movieclip . simply because I want to add the mc elements to the stage.

I'm having trouble with building iOS applications in flash. I just bought an iPad and want to start building apps for it. I hav done simple apps for iPhone before but nothing too fancy. The problem is, I can build it and compile it fine but when I try to install on my device it comes up with the error saying:
"ITunes: 'APPNAME' failed to install." I can compile it as an iPhone app and it works fine. I'm pretty sure I've got my provisioning right because I have both my iPhone and iPad devices added. Anyone got any ideas of why my apps only work while I compile them as iPhone apps?

I know Flash IDE is rather for animations and design heavy works so you can't really compare these 2 tools, but this question is bugging me for a long time.If apps made with Flex (or Flash Builder) are really faster and less CPU intensive - why is that?

I have developed an applicaition with flash. There is a PROBLEM about loading external swf. If there is any actionscript code on external swf, the application does not run on my ipad. When I delete the script, It works properly.
Is there a nice way to integrate several air apps into one Showcase Application, without having to modify the original Air App Code to fit into the Showcase ?Without necessary modifcations it would be possible to easy update the containtng app.
