Is there a way to know the proxy setting of web browser under Flex 3, namely actionscript 3?
We use socket library to connect remote HTTP server. It is nice to read web proxy setting to connect to HTTP proxy instead of directly to HTTP server.
I asked Google. But there is no working answer for it. I checked "right click -> global setings" and found no proxy setting in [URL].. Can anyone know how to configure proxy settings for flash player?

I just got my MacBook and am trying out the Flash BUilder on said platform. I've installed Firefox and Google Chrome on my MacBook but I can't seem to find a way to set which browser would launch my Flex apps whenever I hit the Run button inside Flash Builder. As far as I know, I can locate the Browser property on the Project Properties on my Windows copy of Flash Builder but I couldn't over here at my Mac. Any thoughts?
View 1 RepliesI have an http streaming .mp4 file that is encoded to 300kbps. The file size is 2.9mb and the play time is just over one minute. I want to set the buffertime to a low number so the video starts playing almost immediately, but whether or not I set the buffertime to 6 or do not set it at all (which should put it at the default of 0.1) it still completely buffers the entire video before starting play back. Is there I am missing about http streaming and buffertime? PS This happens with my own player AND the flash cs3 FLVplayback (I changed the file name to .flv for this one.)
View 2 Repliesdoing a project where the deviceorientation-data from smartphones get transfered to a socketserver, and from there to a flash-application.Now creating a http-server with nodejs wasn't too hard, and connecting from a smartphone via browser and transfering the data with socket.io worked fine.The problem comes with flash, i couldn't manage to connect my flash application to the http-server running socket.io. I figured out when i run a node tcp-server connecting from flash is no problem, but i have no more session management and i can't connect from the browser anymore.

this in database cell:

gets read in DataGrid as nubmer as 12345678901234568
this is in database cell:

php reads it same and puts it in XML flex reads XML into arrayCollection and DataGrid reads it as:
5.55554444422222e+24
So it reads it as number, why? And how to make it read as String? I tried with labelFunction, no help.
I was looking this new game ([URL]) that uses the iPhone as a control pad for a flash game in your computer browser. I tried to monitor the HTTP activity of the browser but it doesn't seem to be using the HTTP protocol. Do you know how does this works? It's sockets programming? Can the flash movie become a socket server?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to implement a dragging system which can only be described as similar to dragging the map on Google Maps. I can set up dragging easily in Flex, but unfortunately the standard model of dragging i.e. dragging an element proxy and dropping it in another element is not what I'm after.
Is there anything built into flex where the actual element rather than a proxy can be repositioned in a different place within the same parent? Or will I have to hand code something using mouse events as you would if implementing a solution in JavaScript?
I have a problem using Flex with BlazeDS on a Tomcat 5.5 through a Proxy (Apache). I already searched for it but didn't find answers which solved my problem. I hope you guys can help me out. So I have a PHP proxy that gets information from a website. Let's say the proxy gets the information from (www.example.com). It checks if the number of lines returned is the same as before, if not then there are more lines, it counts the difference then it need to push this information to the Flex client saying that it has new information, (x) more lines have been written.I am not really sure how to do the push mechanism on the php proxy because I am not sure how to actually push from the proxy to the client, never done it before.

View 1 RepliesI have created a fla file in adobe flash cs3. This contains a mainstage with a menu (is a movieclip) and a background (actionscript gradient). I have set the movie to scale so that when it is viewed in a browser it will be adjusted to the size of that window.
My problem or what I want is the following :
- The menu and text of that menu must stay the same size, as created in the fla file, when a scale is done.
- The content of the movie(not the menu) must stay in proportion.
An example site that I found, that demonstrates what I want is [URL]. You can change the browser window size and the menu text size stays the same but the content goes in proportion of the window size.
I am trying to access a .Net service which requires an authentication header. If WebService is used it works fine. But when it is accessed using HTTPService it throws error. The project is already done by somebody else using HTTPService. Now changing to webService requires some time since there needs to be modification in a lot of files.
