Flash :: Javascript - Under Layer - Clicks - Catch A Hover Event On Top Of A Flash Object
May 20, 2011
I need to catch a hover event on top of a flash object, so I set the wmode and created an invisible div on top of it to attach the event listeners to. Thing is, I can't click the flash object. The cover is swallowing the clicks, and the things I've tried to go around this have made a mess of the hover events. This is the 30th problem I ran into in 2 days time and it's driving me crazy xD.
The only way I have found so far to capture the browser window close event from actionscript/flash is actually to capture the event in javascript, and then use a javascript/flash data passing from the javascript callback.
Something around those lines:
window.onbeforeunload = clean_up; function clean_up() { var flex = document.${application} || window.${application};
I would want to catch click with javascript on a embed flash object on my page. I used wmode="opaque" (tried transparent too) and put a low z-index. I tried catching click on a div, on the object element and on the embed element. On FF (5), all three of them work. On IE (7 & 8), none of them work. Here's my code (I removed some attribute for flash like type or classid) :
is it possible to let clicks on a HTML element that's overlaying a Flash or Silverlight object bubble through to the Flash / Silverlight object? I've been experimenting with this, but i can't figure out if it is even possible because of possible security restrictions to prevent clickjacking.I don't have access to the source code to the FL / SL object, so i can't implement an ExternalInterface or something like that.
I have a slider with arrows on the end to operate/advance it. If you hover over an arrow the slider slides. When you roll off/hover off the arrow the slider stops. The problem is that if you hover off to quickly it still thinks the cursor is over the arrow and it continues to slide. Is there any way to address this?
I have got this script working from How to get mouseup to fire once mousemove complete working within the jQuery (document) scope.Later on I added a flash object inside the body.and when I click on the flash object the mousedown event fired, mousemove event fired, but not the mouseup event which where I want to unbind the mousemove. But when I click on non Flash area, mousedown works, mousemove works, and mouseup also works. It works like I wanted it to in Chrome, but not in Firefox.Here are the codes, and I called handleMouseDown in $(document).ready
handleMouseDown: function () { jQuery(document).mouseup(function() { Log("unbind.");
I then populate the page with some Flash controls (in my case, I'm using Uploadify). When I click on the Flash control, I see the alert in Firefox 4. However, I do not see the alert in IE8 or Chrome (I havent tested any other browsers).
I'm embedding a flash object in an html page and calling windows.onload to initialize the Flash movie. The problem is that the windows.onload does not wait for the Flash object to completely load. Is there way to make sure that the Flash object has fully loaded?
Here is the code I'm using: <head> <script> var falshObj = null; function pageInit() { thisMovie(); [Code] .....
I have a situation where I am allowing the user to drag a movieclip by means of startDrag and setting a rectangle. However while they are dragging this about, I want to register when the mouse moves over another object, however I can't seem to get this to work while they are dragging the object.
I'm trying to show a div when someone clicks on the flash button pertaining to certain div. This is the javascript function I'm trying to have called:
<script type="text/javascript"> function show1() { document.getElementById(#table1).style.display = 'block'; } </script>
"#table1" is the Div ID that I'm trying to display after the person clicks a button in flash. I haven't used flash in forever and am struggling finding the answer; it used to be you could just call it by going the getURL route, but that doesn't work any longer. Does anyone know how I would call that function to show the div?
When the user presses the mouse, and releases it over a static textfield with selectable text, no MOUSE_UP event is fired - not on the stage and also nowhere else.I experienced this when using a scrollbar class on a movieclip with a nested static textfield.When the user drags the scroll handle and releases the mouse over the textfield, the dragging/scrolling is stuck.To test this, create a new AS3 fla file, place a static textfield somewhere, and put in some text. Make sure the selectable property is checked in the properties panel.Add this script to the timeline:[code]Now test the movie and click the mouse. You will notice that trace('up') will not occur when you release the mouse over the textfield.
In Flash AS3 i wanna write the single try catch block in order to catch any errors in whole class. For ex, i have a lot of functions in myClass.as. I don'w wanna write in each function try catch blocks in order to catch errors in this function. Is there any methods to do this?
I have android 3.2 tablet application that displaying flash inside webView. now I want to catch event when pressing some inner item inside (it does't direct to another url..) is it possible??
I have a form saved as an html page, and at the moment my contact button launches this page in a pop up.What I would like is that so when you click my contact button, it loads the pages as a layer so it fits in more with the website and loads ontop of the flash file. For an example check out www.dobi.nu - its and html website but if you go to illustrations and click and image the page loads on top as a layer, just wanna know if it can be done with flash.
I want to build a web page with a button that when clicked opens up a javascript layer and loads a flash player inside that layer. And that layer would need a close button.
I have two movie clip on the stage. The movieclip mc1 has a masked layer in it self that the movieclip seen like a ring ( like it has a hole in it ) and the movieclip2 is simple square movieclip that is under the movclip1 on the stage. So movieclip2 is seen from within the hole of the movieclip1 but it doesn't catch events when i click mc2 (the movieclip under) from within the hole of the mc1.[code]...
Here's the challenge: I have a Flash movie which will be embedded in a page using an unknown DOM ID that I want to be able to identify/store for callback in a JS function. My ideal user flow would be: User clicks button in Flash. Flash pauses any animations / video / sounds / etc. Flash calls an injected JS function to display a page-covering overlay experience. When user closes overlay experience, a callback method on the Flash object is called. Flash resumes playback.
The problem is, when AS3 uses the ExternalInterface.call("functionName", args...) method, there doesn't seem to be a DOM event triggered, and thus it is impossible to tell which object called a JS function, so having a "registerMe()" function doesn't seem to work. Basically, the injected JS function has no way to determine which DOM object to call, because the ID of the Flash object is unknown.
i am making a scroller and need to have it so that when you hover on the up or down buttons, then it will keep moving the designated layer up or down. right now the event handler i am usiing (onRollOver) doesnt really work right because it only moves one pixel, then you need to roll off and roll back on.... i am thinking there must be some do... while statement for the rollover action but i cant find it...
I have a problem with the startDrag function I'm using in AS3. Right now I have a movie clip which is made up of 4 different layers. I export the movie clip, create and object of it, add in an event listener for mouse clicks that calls the startDrag function. However, instead of dragging the entire Movie Clip and all of its parts, it only grabs and drags one layer around, which breaks the different parts of the Movie Clip up.
public function HopperMouseDown(event:MouseEvent):void { event.target.startDrag(true); //start dragging tile[code].....
This is my function for the MouseClick event on the MovieClip. I initiate the startDrag event, but here it will not drag the entire Move Clip for some reason it only drags the different pieces inside the clip.
I'm programming a little tank game (Check the attachment). The main class for tank is game.serovkonstantin.tanks.Tank.as and there are also 2 subclasses for now: Abrams and T90 which extend Tank. In my game.serovkonstantin folder I have a custom event (TankEvent), and the only event type inside of it which is TANK_INACTIVE.
I've added an event listener for MouseEvent.CLICK to each of the tank instances (inside Tank.as) which works just fine. When I add any of the tank instance onto the stage and click it, it traces the tank's name just like I wanted whether it's Abrams or T-90 depending on what tank I clicked. But the problem is that when I click a tank I also want it to dispatch my TankEvent.TANK_INACTIVE. The main stage has a listener for this event, so I expected it to catch the event and trace some phrase, but nothing happens I don't know whether it doesn't dispatch my event or doesn't catch it.
======== if you're interested why I need to dispatch this event, well,I suppose it will help my game know what tank to move when I click somewhere on the stage, and what tank(s) should be inactive,event it they all of the same type. I mean if I click one of the tanks it accepts all the controls while the other should be inactive
I have a "video spokesperson" on one of my website pages. The swf file has a flash video in it (without the play/pause buttons, etc).
First of all...
1. How can I have play/pause/close buttons "appear" on mouseover?
2. What code would I apply to the close button in order to actually completely close the flash swf from the page? AND, how can I have my swf file automatically close when the video is done playing (if this is possible)?
I am no programmer, I really am not good at writing my own code but I can edit existing code to a point. I just have no idea where to start with this one.
I have an air application, in which the user types javascript in a textarea, and it is eval'd in an mx:HTML component, but even with try/catch around the eval, and around the code in the eval, and an HTMLUncaughtScriptExceptionEvent handler, it still throws an error. htmlWindow is html.htmlLoader.window.
I am looking for a consistent way to determine when Flash is going to be unloaded. I need to handle this event in order to call a tracking API once rather than each analytical event.
how to consistently (across all browsers) handle this
