Actionscript :: Adobe Flash Doesn't Catch A Fast Hover Off?
Aug 24, 2010
I have a slider with arrows on the end to operate/advance it. If you hover over an arrow the slider slides. When you roll off/hover off the arrow the slider stops. The problem is that if you hover off to quickly it still thinks the cursor is over the arrow and it continues to slide. Is there any way to address this?
I need to catch a hover event on top of a flash object, so I set the wmode and created an invisible div on top of it to attach the event listeners to. Thing is, I can't click the flash object. The cover is swallowing the clicks, and the things I've tried to go around this have made a mess of the hover events. This is the 30th problem I ran into in 2 days time and it's driving me crazy xD.
I have place a movieclip in several locations (scenes). When I click from one place to another it seems to be catching up to a location in time. The location of the site is: [URL]..
This code is meant to assist the fast-forward and reverse buttons catch actions that occur on the timeline as they travel along skipping 15 frames at a time, but the actions are not being caught for some reason.
My first attempt involved using LoadVars and "load", and only calling loadMovie if the file successfully loaded (found the technique somewhere out here). However, I found that the ProcessRequest function in the HttpHandler was getting called twice when the file does exist. Makes sense - once for load, once for loadMovie.Now I'm using MovieClipLoader instead (also found this technique out here). This way does call ProcessRequest only once whether or not the file is found. But my problem is that the onLoadError function is only working when I give it a bad URL. If I give it a good URL that passes a bad filename to the handler, the handler throws an error, but my onLoadError function doesn't seem to recognize that there's a problem - I just get a blank area where the error message should be showing up.Here's the relevant AS2 code:
function CheckFileExists(inFile) { var mclListener:Object = new Object(); mclListener.onLoadError = function(target_mc:MovieClip, err:String){
In Flash AS3 i wanna write the single try catch block in order to catch any errors in whole class. For ex, i have a lot of functions in myClass.as. I don'w wanna write in each function try catch blocks in order to catch errors in this function. Is there any methods to do this?
It works flawlessly the other way round. I can dispatch an event in a class (extends sprite) and my main .fla does catch it. The other way round it doesn't. To transmit a number from my fla. to the class (added as child) I dispatch an event, but the class never receives it. What's wrong. Initially I wanted to dipatch the event in another class, but as far as I understood, the event would never be transmitted from the other class as events only communicate to their parents.
Actually the image (uiloader) should transmit the loading progress directly, so the loading status bar could change its width. But as I couldn't get this to work, I started to dispatch another event from the main document which placed image and loading bar dynamically on the stage. How do I need to add the listener to the LoadingStatus.as, so that it can change the width by itself?
Code: if(i>4){ trace("end of itemsloaded"); _buckets.reverse();
[Code]....
and then in bucket intro I call the array and they're not reversed yet.. but if i add another function between the two, then it gets reversed in time??
I'm using the hover caption tut to do a mouse replace which works here:URL...problem is when I load that swf into another parent swf the hover doesn't work.
I am trying to host a flash object inside an CAxWindow, I have managed to insert a shockwaveflash (SWF) and its working fine. I am trying to find all available API's that are available in the flash ocx. I am unable to find any documentation for the functions in the IShockwaveFlash interface.I know that Adobe doesn't have a documentation for using flash in VC++ but I was wondering if anyone can point me to a place where I can find an UNOFFICIAL documentation for flash.ocx or code samples as the only API that I could find and I'm currently using is "PutMovie".
When I work on my Air Project, I used stop(); to stay in a frame(which is my menu), I built the .air for testing purposes and the frames keep looping, as in, it plays all the frames, and it won't stop as it's instructed to. I'm building my Application in Flash CS5, not Flex.
It seems to me like the biggest arguments against Flash right now falls into three categories:It is slow and battery intensive. Basically that it uses too much CPU than it should. It is not an open standard. Eveyone knows how HTML/CSS and JavaScript operate inside. Flash is not open.It has security flaws which make it insecure.
Seems like all of these concerns could be addressed if Adobe opensourced the Flash player. Third parties could contribute to and audit the code base, and optimize and fix bugs. Adobe could concentrate on making the apps and environments that author Flash content best. Well, Adobe hasn't done that yet. Why not? What are the business/technical reasons that makes Adobe want to keep control of a closed source Flash player?
I am working through an audio player demonstration in the book "Foundation Actionscript 3.0". When I try to publish my AudioDemo_final.FLA file I get the following error, "Adobe Flash CS3 - Error creating flash movie file. Destination directory does not exist. Change your publish settings."The following is displayed in my output panel >> Error opening URL 'file:///C|/Sites/flashcoder.net/FAS3/Audio/AudioDemo%5Ffinal.swf'My file directory is set up like this:AudioDemo_final.flasong1.mp3com.fas3.smc (folder)Main.asSounds.as
I am developing flash p2p chat. It works fine on my friends' computers (they can chat each other), but not on mine. The problem is that I have local network at home, and I think that Flash Player tries to make p2p requests to peers inside my local network.Can I check if user have local network in AS3 and up the level of network to the WWW?
I am working on adding functionality to where the URL takes in a parameter as defined by an MVC style looking way.eg. (URL... )where 12345 is the corresponding Id number that I want to get.I have this functionality working.I am using Internet Explorer 7.My issue is that when a user attempts to enter a new query string id into the URL, the page doesn't refresh when the user hits enter or the refresh button. (The user can navigate to the url/#/Id/12345 only when opening a new window/tab)Does anyone know if this is a feature that doesn't work in Flex or if there is some code or configuration needed to allow this?
I am using progressive streaming with VideoDisplay, the HTTP URL provided gets buffered completely even if I have configured it to start playing the video when the buffering reaches 20%, the trace message shows that the playing started(using mozilla /Flashbug+Firebug), but it doesnot show the video till the buffercounter reaches 100% How can I get the video stream to play at the 20% of stream.Code Segment where the check takes place
So I have been working on a flash-based Website using ActionScript 2.0. I have been able to export it fine up until about a day ago. The file is only 4,330KB and when exporting as a SWF it will export about halfway and then it stops with no error or exported file. I exported it as an AVI, but since it's interactive it doesn't help. I've tried exporting it for Quicktime and the same thing happens.
I'm having trouble getting the Adobe Media Encoder CS4 to work properly. I have tried multiple files of different lengths but end up with the same output. Nice video encoding, but the audio starts and then cuts out after a couple of seconds. The longer the video, the shorter the audio works. The logs don't report any issues.
Problem is that my rewind and fast forward buttons do not work properly in the sense that they start to mess up when you fast forward or rewind past the current scene. It seems to just skip through the whole movie and totally mess up the animation.the code for the controls is on a single layer and reads as the following:
I have an AIR application i'm trying to release with flexbuilder. Launching application has no problem ... bin-debug dir is correctly filled with my files. But when i want to create the AIR file (export release fuild), AIR files content view is empty and bin-debug directory is never filled.
i have designed a gaming kiosk app in as3.i am using it on a Sony vaio l pc (like hp's touchsmarts) in windows 7. the app doesn't need any multi-touch gestures (only single touch clicks and drags) so i am using mouse events. everything is fine (including mouse click and move events) except that a single touch to the screen (with no move) doesn't fire a mouse down. it is fired only after a small move of the finger
outside the app, on my desktop, i see that the small windows 7 cursor jumps immediately to where a finger is placed, meaning this issue isn't a hardware or a windows problem but rather how internally the flash app receives "translated" touch-to-mouse events from the os.for example, in a windows Solitaire game, a simple touch to the screen immediately highlights the touched card.in my app, a button will change to the down state only if i touch it and also move my finger slightly (click events - down and up - are triggered fine).shouldn't the MOUSE_DOWN event trigger exactly like how a TOUCH_BEGIN would in the new touchevent class?
When I execute the (2nd) below code with a wrong url (number '1' added at the URL end), I get the below error. How can I catch this error, in case the url is wrong, so that I can give out an error message to the user ?
Is it possible to catch a right-click inside of flash (AS3)? No JQuery/JavaScript. I need to pause gameplay when a right-click is caught, so I don't so much want to disable the context-menu as I do just want to tell that a right-click has happened. Is there an EventListener I can add? I need the event to be triggered as they are actually right clicking, not just after the context-menu has disappeared.
