Oct 15, 2008I'm building an application that's basically a frame in that another SWF file is displayed. My application loads SWF files generated by a server and displays them. As memory consumption increases over time, it it necessary that I unload the current SWF from time to time and replace it with a new SWF. I use SWFLoader to load the remote SWF file. I create a new SWFLoader object for each new SWF and remove the old SWFLoader as soon as the new SWF can be displayed. Now my problem: SWFLoader sporadically does not start playing the loaded SWF. All of the SWF files that I load start with the same set of instructions. When all goes well, the SWFLoader gets some ProgressEvents and then an Event.INIT. After that the SWF starts playing. In some cases, however, I only get the progress events, but the INIT is never fired. In that case the SWF doesn't start playing. The number of bytes received reported by the progress event is the same as in the case when it goes right.

Jul 27, 2011I have a main Flex Application ('A.swf') loading a SubApplication (defined in' B.swf') via a SWFLoader and I need to listen for UncaughtErrorEvent from the SubApplication. I'm not able to get my event listeners to be called when I throw an error from within the SubApp ('B.swf').After reading the asDoc for UncaughtErrorEvent and UncaughtErrorEvents I have added an event listener to A.swf's loaderInfo (The 'outter' main app) and also to B.swf's loaderInfo (though the Docs say not to do it here it is part of the event sequence in the capture and bubble phase...) as well as the SWFLoader internal FlexLoader.uncaughtErrorEvent (per Docs) like so:[code] The event listener setup on the Loader.uncaughtErrorEvents is not firing when SubApplication in B.swf throws an error. Instead the listener on the main app's (A.swf) loaderInfo fires. Moreover, the event recieved by A.swf's loaderInfo has an eventphase equal to 'EventPhase.AT_TARGET' which the asDoc says should only be dispatched in the capture and bubble phases.

Dec 28, 2009I'm trying to load a SWF I created with Flash CS4 into Flash Builder with the SWFLoader class, but I can't seem to access the loaded SWF's children. Everytime I try to change the property of a child it'll ignore it.
I tried loading the SWF with the Loader class, but it doesn't allow me to add it to the stage. How can I load the SWF and access it's children?My code atm (m is a child of the loaded SWF (SWFToLoad)):

May 19, 2011I use a flex app (A) to load another flex app (B) using SWFLoader (both built using Flex Builder 3 sometime ago).Everything works fine as expected across all (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari) desktop browsers.However, if I use a TabNavigator within the flex app (B) then when you click on any of the tabs it unloads the flex app (B) and re-starts flex app (A). This behaviour appears to be limited to Webkit based browsers (Chrome & Safari) the rest of the browsers (IE, FF) work fine.

I have a test flash file that registers its own listener at first frame's actions.

Unfortunately neither line works when .swf is loaded into another movie. Assuming that stage object is wrong for such situations, which object should be used to get listener?
Is it necessary to rewrite loader in parent swf, as said in the linked question?

On some of those, sometimes uncaught exceptions are thrown, and showed by the alertbox from the flash player debug (If you have it installed).To rise the average user experience I'd like to report all those exceptions throught a in house tool we already have.Is there a way to catch those exceptions?Maybe the flash player debug exposes them to javascript, or in some other way.

My exception extends Exception and it has a attribute with the needed info for the client. Well, my problem is the following: when I build my exception if I invoke super() or super("message") the flex client can access all the info properly. But if I build the exception with a Throwable cause, super(cause), then the flex client can only access to stackTrace.

Jul 17, 2009I did have the capability to compile my mxml files via the browser on my local machine. I've had to do a reinstall but now I'm having problems trying to compile.My current setup is:
WAMP 2.0i
- Apache 2.2.8
- PHP 5.2.8
- MySQL 5.1.36
FlashDevelop 3.0.0 RC1
Win XP
I've tried compiling in Firefox 3.5, IE8 & Chrome but all receive the same error:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Handling Exceptions When External Data Doesn't Load
Sep 23, 2010I'm loading external data from a txt file into a MovieClip. It contains data that is crucial to the presentation viewing. It is necessary to load, not right away but at some point (the sooner the better). When the txt is on the same server it works instantly, but I'm loading data from another server.
Two problems: the onLoad code is stuck if the file doesn't load (connection problem, server down?) and in offline mode what happens if the data is purged out of browsers cache (history problem)?
How can i handle these exceptions?
1. Some code that uses a "timer" to periodically try to load the data again if the connection is slow and the txt doesn't loads the first time?
2. When it doesn't load at all, and the onLoad fails, how can I simulate notOnLoad - exception for data download fail? And retry the dataLoad?
I've already made cross-server data loading possible using crossdomain.xml policy.
The site is still in development. This problem occurred when the server which contains the data.txt was down due to maintenance, and when one of the test-visitors was downloading so much in the background that his connection didn't had enough bandwidth to load data correctly (browser thought he had connection problems).

Aug 6, 2010I have a complicated problem with a couple of SWFLoaders.I have an application that loads a swf with a SWFLoader. The loaded swf loads another swf (just a compiled fla). I am adding all my resize and position logic in my loaded swf and it works good on event resize, but when I'm trying to run the same code in my swfs applicationComplete it fails. The same code on startup works great if I run my swf as a standanlone, but for some reason the scale is different when I load it into my application.[code]swfLoader is my loaded swf's swfloader that loads my compiled fla. That is what I need to resize and position to the center. The next numbers are width and height. FlexLoader is the swfLoaders loader (or content if you will). The numbers are width, height, scaleX and scaleY.As you can see the size is the same (this is also the same for the loaded swfs application), but the scale is different. Both scales are calculated from with 1280 and height 720 wich is my compiled fla's size.The only reason why I'm messing around with scale at all is that I can't find the accurate width of my compiled fla to center it (application.width - loadedSwf.width / 2)The part I'm not getting is why the scales are different? What part am I missing?

Apr 28, 2011I've created a Flash Animation (CS5, ActionScript 3) and converted it to SWF. The flash animation needs the values of 3 variables (defined in the swf timeline) BEFORE it starts running in my Flex application. I've embedded the swf file using swfloader in Flex, but I need to pass the parameters from Flex into Flash before the animation starts. How do I do this?
The way I have my flex code setup below, the variables are not being updated. I get an exception every time it gets to the changeParams function because it can't find "Type", "Num1", etc.

Jan 15, 2011Is it possible to catch a right-click inside of flash (AS3)? No JQuery/JavaScript. I need to pause gameplay when a right-click is caught, so I don't so much want to disable the context-menu as I do just want to tell that a right-click has happened. Is there an EventListener I can add? I need the event to be triggered as they are actually right clicking, not just after the context-menu has disappeared.

Jul 4, 2011Since i'm having some issues with a sandbox here, i'm looking for a little workaround that should work to proxify the assets loaded by a remote swf.Currently after loading a remote swf, and trying to draw a bitmap i get the following error: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: http://urlhere cannot access http://remotehost/clothes/bg/bg_10438411_bg.swf. This may be worked around by calling Security.allowDomain.
Now, i want to see if it's possible to catch & change the swf's that the remote swf loads. So i can load them through a php file and then into the swf instead. Basically editing the URL that it loads the swf from.
