View 2 RepliesI'm looking for a way to catch an Exception thrown by PHP in Flex using HTTPService. Is it possible to do it without using AMFPHP?
In my current implementation, if an Exception is thrown in PHP, a FaultEvent.FAULT is indeed dispatched on Flex side. The only problem is that the exception's message string is nowhere to be found in FaultEvent.[code]...
I would like to have one place to catch all errors thrown so that I can log them.
View 1 RepliesIn Flash AS3 i wanna write the single try catch block in order to catch any errors in whole class. For ex, i have a lot of functions in myClass.as. I don'w wanna write in each function try catch blocks in order to catch errors in this function. Is there any methods to do this?
View 2 RepliesIn my workplace we are mantaining a lot of ecommerce websites,some coded better than others. On some of those, sometimes uncaught exceptions are thrown, and showed by the alertbox from the flash player debug (If you have it installed).To rise the average user experience I'd like to report all those exceptions throught a in house tool we already have.Is there a way to catch those exceptions?Maybe the flash player debug exposes them to javascript, or in some other way.
View 2 RepliesI want to log those uncaught exceptions of my as3 program. The problem is, where do those uncaught exceptions go? How can I catch them?
View 3 RepliesI am using a custom java exception to provide the flex client with more info than the exception itself. My exception extends Exception and it has a attribute with the needed info for the client. Well, my problem is the following: when I build my exception if I invoke super() or super("message") the flex client can access all the info properly. But if I build the exception with a Throwable cause, super(cause), then the flex client can only access to stackTrace.
public class MyException extends Exception {
private String errorCode;
public String getErrorCode() {
return errorCode;
} public void setErrorCode(String errorCode) {
[Code] ......
By using MyException(String msg) the flex client can access to errorCode
By using MyException(Throwable cause) the flex client can't access to errorCode
In the flex side the code is:
var faultEvent : FaultEvent = FaultEvent( event );
var errorMessage:ErrorMessage = faultEvent.message as ErrorMessage;
var codeError:String = errorMessage.rootCause.errorCode;
I did have the capability to compile my mxml files via the browser on my local machine. I've had to do a reinstall but now I'm having problems trying to compile.My current setup is:
WAMP 2.0i
- Apache 2.2.8
- PHP 5.2.8
- MySQL 5.1.36
FlashDevelop 3.0.0 RC1
Win XP
I've tried compiling in Firefox 3.5, IE8 & Chrome but all receive the same error:
Compilation results
Errors, warnings or exceptions were found while compiling null.Visit the online Flex documentation or API reference for further information. An error occured on the server.
Server error is: 'Error occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.lang. NoSuchMethodError: flex.license.License.(Ljava/util/ Map;Ljava/lang/ String; Lflex/ license/Logger;)V'
I've followed the instructions from adobe:
http:[url]....I can compile without an issue via CMD but I prefer to use the browser as I find that much faster.
I'm loading external data from a txt file into a MovieClip. It contains data that is crucial to the presentation viewing. It is necessary to load, not right away but at some point (the sooner the better). When the txt is on the same server it works instantly, but I'm loading data from another server.
Two problems: the onLoad code is stuck if the file doesn't load (connection problem, server down?) and in offline mode what happens if the data is purged out of browsers cache (history problem)?
How can i handle these exceptions?
1. Some code that uses a "timer" to periodically try to load the data again if the connection is slow and the txt doesn't loads the first time?
2. When it doesn't load at all, and the onLoad fails, how can I simulate notOnLoad - exception for data download fail? And retry the dataLoad?
I've already made cross-server data loading possible using crossdomain.xml policy.
The site is still in development. This problem occurred when the server which contains the data.txt was down due to maintenance, and when one of the test-visitors was downloading so much in the background that his connection didn't had enough bandwidth to load data correctly (browser thought he had connection problems).
im trying to create a level select screen so the buttons unlock as you complete a level, so far i have this on each button:
on(release){
if(this.number <= currentItem){
gotoAndPlay(3);
}
}

I have two layers in my FLA both with empty movie clips as follows:In mc_Empty1, I attach a faded background movieclip as I wait for mc_Empty2 to load a SWF. Once the SWF is loaded into mc_Empty2, I want to remove the faded background movieclip from mc_Empty1. When I load the SWF from the main timeline, the onLoad() function works and removes the faded background from mc_Empty1. However, when I load the SWF from mc_target, the SWF loads, but the onLoad() function does not. Here's my AS2 code:
//Loading SWF from main timeline
mc_Empty1.attachMovie("mcFadedBg", "mc_FadedBg", 1);
mc_Empty2.loadMovie("My.swf");mc_Empty2.onLoad = function():Void{ trace("loaded"); //This works removeMovieClip(mc_Empty1.mc_FadedBg); //This works}
[code]....
I know I'm targeting properly because the SWF loads as it should, but the onLoad() function does not.
This is making me a little kooky today. I thought I could defined a library path in PREFERENCES > ACTIONSCRIPT > ACTIONSCRIPT 3.0 SETTINGS then that library would be available to all AS3 FLA files, but that doesn't seem to work for me. If I use the PUBLISH SETTINGS and define the library path everything is fine.
Is there something that I could have done to disable the application level class path functionality? I guess I'm trying avoid having to set the library path for every new FLA I'm making.
I'm doing a bigger aplication in flash (as2).Image, there is a main "home" flash with several menu buttons.Clicking these buttons, I load external swf into an empty container in this "home" flash.[code]clicking buttons in this second level, will load external movies into an empty container in this SECOND LEVEL swf.This works fine, but now, coming to the THIRD LEVEL (don't think there will be more in the future) problems come up, some scripts won't work.Now (I'm a as2-beginner) I think, loading external swf ALLWAYS into containers in the first "Home" flash should solve the problem.But I don't know, how to load an swf from the third level into a container in the first "home" level.In the "home" level, I have a "close" button, that will unload the container content.I need to go to a certain scene "content_2" in the home swf, too.
View 7 Repliesi have game im doing, and i want it to jump to level 2 upon completing the first level, but the problem is, the level 2 is a seperate swf, i've tried to use
Code:
on (release) {
loadMovie("level2.swf",2)
}
I have called main.swf into a container in index.swf.
myMCL.loadClip("main.swf","container"); is an action on my Index.fla timeline.
I have my navigation on index. (i wanted it to go on main, but the nature of the animation meant it had to go on index)
I need to call "home.swf" into "main.swf" from the navigation button in Index.swf.
When I had the navigation on "main.swf" this was my code to call "home.swf" into the page.
on (release) {
Preloader_mc.gotoAndStop("home");
}
("home") is the label name where the preloader is for home.swf
how to call the preloader for home into main.swf from "INDEX.SWF INSTEAD OF MAIN.SWF"
I have a file1.swf which loads file2.swf into it. Within file2.swf i have a button that when clicked needs to remove file2.swf and load file3.swf into its place.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to link to one level below the current level? Instead of saying _root.level1.level2.level3, something like: ../level3 ?
View 4 RepliesSituation:
- We have a Flash application located on a SAP EP (let's say ep.x.com)
- We have a SAP ABAP Application (Webservices) on a SAP WebAS
server (abap.x.com)
- Clarification: This is not about Flash islands / but a normal Flash application communicating with WebAS ABAP via WebServices
Problem: Due to the changed security policy in Flash 10 this scenario does no longer work.
- A crossdomain policy file on root level cannot be deployed on root level
- The WebServices http/s headers cannot be modified, since the WebServices are generated by the WebAS IDE.
Comment: Technically there is a way to patch a WebAS ABAP,but this is not a practical / acceptable way in a normal SAP WebAS infrastructure.
Conclusion:- The above scenario (Flash from EP content / WebAS ABAP as backend) is a quite normal scenario in the SAP world.
- SAP / Adobe always features the close relationship between their technologies.
Question:- What could we do?
- How does the Visual Composer works around that problem?
I have a movie that's 500x400 px in level 0 and has lots of thumbnails with pictures that I want to open. the thumbnails open a 500x400 px movie above the other but on level 1. the problem is that when the new movie loads on level 1, the thumbnails on level 0 (that are now hidden by the new movie) are still active, and if i click anywere in the movie on level 1, it trigger an action from level 0. Is it possible to load a movie to level 1 that deactivates the movie in level 0 without unloading it?
View 1 RepliesI currently have something going that gets me a pretty accurate value inside a swf (one I have no control over), but I want even more precision
I know it will sometimes send out data about itself to other locations
In my game, I have to catch one item and not the other. I have used an external .as file to code it and it works fine on it's own, but when I add something before the game (a title screen) and something after the game (a 'game over' screen) and 'call' the external .as file to the frame with the actual game play, I receive the error:

I want to get url querystring value in the .swf file. Suppose when mypage.html?itemname=xyz is requested, flash file should automatically catch "xyz" and display it.

I have a pointer that follows the mouse movement only in determined angles. lets say the pointer can only follow the mouse when the mouse is moving below the pointer. (it rotates perfectly and smoothly to the left and right) but the thing is, lets say that the mouse is now above the pointer to the right, the pointer stays to the last permited right/down angle BUT if i go down with the mouse from the left, the pointer obviously will jump from facing right/down to facing left/down...what i would like is the pointer to make a nice transition/rotation to the inverse side...just what it does when moving the mouse from left to right, right to left (having the mouse below the pointer).

Is there a way to load a SWF by filename, but using a catch-all somewhat like the asterisk in an import statement is used?For example, I have an SWF called MyAnimation_v01.swf This file gets changed quite a bit, so everytime it gets changed, the "_v01" (version) gets incremented... i.e. MyAnimation_v02.swf, MyAnimation_v03.swf, MyAnimation_v04.swf, etc.Is there a way to load a SWF whose filename matches a certain set of values (MyAnimation_) and disregards the rest? So, instead of having to explicitly load "MyAnimation_v72.swf", something like "MyAnimation_ + * + .swf"?
View 7 Repliesi want to know how to catch mouse event on sprite.I have created a class which extends Sprite and then tried to catch mouse event on it. but not successful.so is it neccessary to draw something on it to catch events?
View 1 RepliesIt works flawlessly the other way round. I can dispatch an event in a class (extends sprite) and my main .fla does catch it. The other way round it doesn't. To transmit a number from my fla. to the class (added as child) I dispatch an event, but the class never receives it. What's wrong. Initially I wanted to dipatch the event in another class, but as far as I understood, the event would never be transmitted from the other class as events only communicate to their parents.
Hope my sketch helps a bit. Actually the image (uiloader) should transmit the loading progress directly, so the loading status bar could change its width. But as I couldn't get this to work, I started to dispatch another event from the main document which placed image and loading bar dynamically on the stage. How do I need to add the listener to the LoadingStatus.as, so that it can change the width by itself?[code]...
I've a movieclip with 30 frames. At the last frame I added a Dynamic Text field in order to insert some text at run time. This movieclip is fired by a button, so I wrote this code:

I'm trying to catch when a second is passed using getTimer. I don't want to use setInterval, because I'll need to pause, and unpause it. So.. here's my code:

What is wrong with this code? It seems that the time variable reachs 1000 milliseconds too fast.I'm not getting a second interval. How would I fix that?
