Flash :: LoadMovieClip.onError Doesn't Seem To Catch Some Errors?
Jan 1, 2009
My first attempt involved using LoadVars and "load", and only calling loadMovie if the file successfully loaded (found the technique somewhere out here). However, I found that the ProcessRequest function in the HttpHandler was getting called twice when the file does exist. Makes sense - once for load, once for loadMovie.Now I'm using MovieClipLoader instead (also found this technique out here). This way does call ProcessRequest only once whether or not the file is found. But my problem is that the onLoadError function is only working when I give it a bad URL. If I give it a good URL that passes a bad filename to the handler, the handler throws an error, but my onLoadError function doesn't seem to recognize that there's a problem - I just get a blank area where the error message should be showing up.Here's the relevant AS2 code:
function CheckFileExists(inFile) {
var mclListener:Object = new Object();
mclListener.onLoadError = function(target_mc:MovieClip, err:String){
In Flash AS3 i wanna write the single try catch block in order to catch any errors in whole class. For ex, i have a lot of functions in myClass.as. I don'w wanna write in each function try catch blocks in order to catch errors in this function. Is there any methods to do this?
before i begin, i should mention my actionscript skills are about a 5/10. that being said, if you point me in the right direction, i should be able to figure it out.
is there a way of capturing actionscript errors in a window.onerror like fashion?
i already have an amf based logging system setup, both the sending and recieving end are working 100%. so getting the message to the server is taken care of. just need to know if its possible to capture the errors.
i would like to capture any and all actionscript errors, and log them so i can debug them if need be.
I have this streaming video player with an asyncErrorHandler function which isn't working correctly.In Flash player 10 I get no errors, but in Flash player 9 I'll get a popup window with the error message that shows up in my output window when I test on my local machine.
Error #2044: Unhandled AsyncErrorEvent:. text=Error #2095: flash.net.NetConnection was unable to invoke callback onBWDone. error=ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property onBWDone not found on src.display.VideoClass and there is no default value.
I feel that I have my AsyncErrorEvent setup correctly however, but am unsure as to why I still get a massive error in my output window, here is the popup window and code below:My statusEventHandler function
// ☼ --- Handle Status and Errors function statusEventHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void { trace("connected is: "+ncConnection.connected); trace("event.info.level: "+event.info.level);
Is there anyway to detect/catch errors for loading of photos in the datagrid if the photos cant be loaded due to some reasons like photo not found in directory, etc .... Like using ioerror or smth...
This is how I load the photos into the datagrid.. Using
var col_img:DataGridColumn = new DataGridColumn("photo"); myDataGridList.addColumn(col_img); col_img.cellRenderer = LoaderCellRenderer;
I've searched for a good while but I can't seem to find an answer to this question:How to catch all errors of an external SWF file when it's loaded?The story:I'm building a flash app that would upload and then load any user-created SWF file and display it if it doesn't throw errors.I've tried to use try/catch statement but it doesn't seem to catch internal errors of the loaded SWF.

I have a slider with arrows on the end to operate/advance it. If you hover over an arrow the slider slides. When you roll off/hover off the arrow the slider stops. The problem is that if you hover off to quickly it still thinks the cursor is over the arrow and it continues to slide. Is there any way to address this?
I'm trying to do a simple game in which you have to move a frog in X axis to catch the falling flies. sorry if I mistake some words cuz I talk in spanish It's already done, but it has 2 bugs and I dunno what the reasons are
The 1st bug, Each time the game is over, and you click in "PLAY AGAIN ", I could notice that the frog movement (which you can move by pressing the keys) is increased a little; for example if you played 6 times the 7th you can reach the opposite side by pressing the corresponding key 2 times, despite the fact that in the code i did write only +15px for the right when you press right arrow and -15px for the left when you press the left one (on X axis) for each time the key is pressed
It works flawlessly the other way round. I can dispatch an event in a class (extends sprite) and my main .fla does catch it. The other way round it doesn't. To transmit a number from my fla. to the class (added as child) I dispatch an event, but the class never receives it. What's wrong. Initially I wanted to dipatch the event in another class, but as far as I understood, the event would never be transmitted from the other class as events only communicate to their parents.
Actually the image (uiloader) should transmit the loading progress directly, so the loading status bar could change its width. But as I couldn't get this to work, I started to dispatch another event from the main document which placed image and loading bar dynamically on the stage. How do I need to add the listener to the LoadingStatus.as, so that it can change the width by itself?
I have firefox 3.6.15 with flash debug version 10.3. whenever an error occurs a popups comes up with the error and a stack trace but it does not line numbers of each leaf in the stack trace which makes it more difficult to debug. how to configure it to actually show line numbers ?
I think it may relate to how I compile my flash application. (i think!) i use eclipse FDT 4.2 to compile and i added the following compiler flags: -debug=true -compiler.verbose-stacktraces i think these parameters should be enough but I may be wrong.
Basically I have a class called player.as The symbol "Player" is the only linkage it has.[code]It is trying to make the player, a movieclip onscreen, with an instance name "Player", move with the arrow keys. Sadly it doesn't work.
I need help with onRelease after using loadMovieClip function. onRelease doesn't work on duplicateMovieClip. The code:function buildGallery (page Position)[code]
i'm making somekind of music / video player in flashmx2004. it plays streaming mp3 en flv files. random people can put a link into the players database. of course there will be some that insert a dead link, now i want to check with actionscript (1.0) if the link is dead and if so, the player automaticly will skip this track.this is what i've got allready to load te streaming sound:
_root.playSound = new Sound(); _root.playSound.loadSound(trackurl,true)
trackurl is the link to the file. link to the player atm: [url]
I am looking to change the URL of a clip when the stream is not found. I am properly configuring the onError event, as I can debug the specific line or add an alert, but what I am having trouble with is the following:
The problem is this image is never being loaded to the player upon the error -- I get a stream not found error message and then the player continues to look for this 'unfound' stream. I'm able to hit the URL and see the image, but am unable to change over upon stream not found. Per the documentation it is supposed to be able to take an image as the URL, but using a fully qualified or relative URL doesn't seem to be working. This is somewhat simplified as we are looking to use customized images for each error code.
I cant seem to make my preloader disappear after the MovieClipLoader class has determined the load is complete. I have a movieclip I attach onto the stage called thumbnailModule_mc inside of it I have the preloader movieclip (a simple spinning circle) and the image holder movieclip that the MovieClipLoader is listening to see when the image load is complete. When the load completes I want to set the alpha to zero and fade in the image. But my code doesn't work! the preloader stays visible.[code]...
I have a little problem, I'm writing an app, where flash attaches a movie with attachMovie and in addition, I add an object with its _x,_y,_xscale and _yscale. Now what I need to do, is not to attach a movie, but to load it with MCL. The problem is,that I don't know how to attach an object with its _xs and _ys to a movieclip loaded. Furthermore, when loaded,it doesn't appear in a library, so I could attach it. Setting parameters manually would take tons of time, so I'm looking for most "economical" solution.
images skew when loaded up using loadmovieclip fuction thumbnail images should load at resolution 150x150 but display at 150x175 cant find scaling as in my code (couldnt get scaling to work right with my looping function so left it out)

When I execute the (2nd) below code with a wrong url (number '1' added at the URL end), I get the below error. How can I catch this error, in case the url is wrong, so that I can give out an error message to the user ?
Is it possible to catch a right-click inside of flash (AS3)? No JQuery/JavaScript. I need to pause gameplay when a right-click is caught, so I don't so much want to disable the context-menu as I do just want to tell that a right-click has happened. Is there an EventListener I can add? I need the event to be triggered as they are actually right clicking, not just after the context-menu has disappeared.
I've tried using the haltonfailure="false" and failureproperty="compile.failed" but ant just throws an error when I try to run it: "The <mxmlc> type doesn't support the "haltonfailure" attribute." I need to do a little cleanup before the build script exits if the mxmlc task fails, how do I achieve this?
Since i'm having some issues with a sandbox here, i'm looking for a little workaround that should work to proxify the assets loaded by a remote swf.Currently after loading a remote swf, and trying to draw a bitmap i get the following error: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: http://urlhere cannot access http://remotehost/clothes/bg/bg_10438411_bg.swf. This may be worked around by calling Security.allowDomain.
Now, i want to see if it's possible to catch & change the swf's that the remote swf loads. So i can load them through a php file and then into the swf instead. Basically editing the URL that it loads the swf from.
I need to catch a hover event on top of a flash object, so I set the wmode and created an invisible div on top of it to attach the event listeners to. Thing is, I can't click the flash object. The cover is swallowing the clicks, and the things I've tried to go around this have made a mess of the hover events. This is the 30th problem I ran into in 2 days time and it's driving me crazy xD.
