I have a flash object on my page and I want to disable clicks on it using Javascript. I tried to use the following code:

It doesn't work. Is there any other alternative?
is it possible to let clicks on a HTML element that's overlaying a Flash or Silverlight object bubble through to the Flash / Silverlight object? I've been experimenting with this, but i can't figure out if it is even possible because of possible security restrictions to prevent clickjacking.I don't have access to the source code to the FL / SL object, so i can't implement an ExternalInterface or something like that.
View 2 RepliesI need to catch a hover event on top of a flash object, so I set the wmode and created an invisible div on top of it to attach the event listeners to. Thing is, I can't click the flash object. The cover is swallowing the clicks, and the things I've tried to go around this have made a mess of the hover events. This is the 30th problem I ran into in 2 days time and it's driving me crazy xD.

Right now, the walls, character, and floor are all children of the same display object for sorting purposes. My question: is there a way to disable mouse clicks to the walls and character while allowing clicks to the floor? Using mouseChildren appears to be an all or nothing deal and I can't seem to isolate individual floor/wall/character objects for use with mouseEnabled.

Then it works on Firefox and Chrome (the AS function is called and works properly) - (it doesn't work in IE though). How come it doesn't work with an object tag? How "safe" it is to use the embed tag instead of the object tag? Is it not obsolete? Note, that it is definitely not a timing issue - If I call the AS function from JS from an onclick function - then the results are the same.
I would want to catch click with javascript on a embed flash object on my page. I used wmode="opaque" (tried transparent too) and put a low z-index. I tried catching click on a div, on the object element and on the embed element. On FF (5), all three of them work. On IE (7 & 8), none of them work. I have a flash AS3 doc and some classes that I created. On one of the classes, it creats a sprite that may have a scroll bar, (which i also made - not the UIScrollBar component). This uses the MOUSE_DOWN event for scrolling.
On some other classes, there are some objects that use the MOUSE_OVER event.
The problem I have, is that if you click and hold the mouse button to begin scrolling, then move the cursor outside of this Movie Clip onto another with the MOUSE_OVER event, then that event will still fire. Also, if you MOUSE_UP and you are outside the Movie Clip (with the scrollbar) then the MOUSE_UP event does NOT fire, and the scrolling is "locked" on until you click inside that moive clip.
How can I prevent mouse events on objects from firing when the MOUSE_DOWN event is firing for scrolling? Also, how can I make it so the MOUSE_UP event will fire no matter where on the stage the mouse cursor is.
I can't seem to figure it out because the MOUSE_DOWN, MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_OVER for the different objects have the eventListeners created in different classes.
I put object and embed tag in a why page and run on IE Everything is ok.
But when i put object & embed tag in a page of joomla
I get immediately error ( i think joomla have problem )

"#table1" is the Div ID that I'm trying to display after the person clicks a button in flash. I haven't used flash in forever and am struggling finding the answer; it used to be you could just call it by going the getURL route, but that doesn't work any longer. Does anyone know how I would call that function to show the div?
I have a site with 908 buttons. Basically a person clicks a button, makes a donation (through paypal) and then that button gets their name displayed when the mouse hovers over it. Essentially the button becomes the property of the person who makes the donation. how to disable each button when someone clicks it. Disabling a button isn't the problem. I need it disabled only when the person has made a valid donation. Each button has a unique instance name (b001 - b908). There must be a way.

View 9 RepliesWe run surf camera streams on our website, which are played via the latest version (5.4) of JWPlayer on our pages. Recently we switched over to another streaming service, and H.264 streams, as we are planning on streaming out to iOS devices in the very near future, however this introduced a bug on the client side where users to not receive vision (they only see a black screen where the video is normally seen).
We have discovered that disabling the Hardware Acceleration (which was introduced in Flash Player 10.1+) fixes this issue, and given the spectrum of environments where this issues is happening I would wager that this is related to specific graphics cards, their drivers, and how they handle the vision decoding etc.
The documentation we have found relating to disabling Hardware Acceleration only indicate that this can be done via the wmode param, i.e. by setting it to wmode="opaque" or wmode="transparent" however this doesn't seem to work in all cases (for the most part the issue is no longer there) however we are still seeing 30% of our users getting this issue.
We can ask the users to disable hardware acceleration themselves, and we have provided details on how to do this, however to me that is only a temporary fix, and I was curious as to whether or not there was something more permanent we can put in until Adobe fix up this issue?

View 1 RepliesHere's the challenge: I have a Flash movie which will be embedded in a page using an unknown DOM ID that I want to be able to identify/store for callback in a JS function. My ideal user flow would be: User clicks button in Flash. Flash pauses any animations / video / sounds / etc. Flash calls an injected JS function to display a page-covering overlay experience. When user closes overlay experience, a callback method on the Flash object is called. Flash resumes playback.
The problem is, when AS3 uses the ExternalInterface.call("functionName", args...) method, there doesn't seem to be a DOM event triggered, and thus it is impossible to tell which object called a JS function, so having a "registerMe()" function doesn't seem to work. Basically, the injected JS function has no way to determine which DOM object to call, because the ID of the Flash object is unknown.

I've set menu to false, as well as used a stop default function on the right click event, but it still displays the menu.
Also, I don't have access to the .fla's, as the flash objects weren't created by me.
I'm trying to make an mp3 player that passes javascript events to a flash file. I'm not very saavy in flash so this may be a simple question.. but how do you make a "movie-less" flash file? I have a flash application written in actionscript 2.0 that shows vector architectural maps and works perfectly on common web browsers. There are many interactions with javascript functions called by user events on the webpage, such as zooming to a certain x,y point. This event is usually accomplished via the mouse wheel.
Now I have to make sure that the thing works on tablet pc, in particular the Galaxy Tab. The first thing I have to fix is that, obviously, there is no mouse wheel and the user naturally tries to pinch zoom the flash application, with the result of zooming the entire web browser.
What I need is to listen to the multitouch gesture and, when a pinch zoom event is called, disable the default zooming event and call a javascript/flash function that allows my flash app to zoom only the objects that need to be zoomed: in few words, the browser stays still and only a part of the flash zooms in or out.
I already have working javascript functions to call flash object functions for the zooming purpose, so I just need to connect them to some android things that tell me when the user tries to pinch zoom in and when he tries to pinch zoom out (and possibly the x,y point of zoom).
Im trying to change the size of this video object from 416x374 to 640x500.[code]I tried adding these parameters and none worked: scale="aspect", scale="exactfit", scale="default".From what I understand, this swf is being scaled inside flash using "StageScaleMode".Is there any way to override this and change the embed size?
