Javascript :: Put Object & Embed Tag In A Page Of Joomla?

I put object and embed tag in a why page and run on IE Everything is ok.
But when i put object & embed tag in a page of joomla
I get immediately error ( i think joomla have problem )
__flash__removeCallback(document.getElementById("flash"), "loadData");
Object doesn't support this property or method it seem like not exists function _flash_removeCallBack
I have researched and found documents about problem[URL]..
I try to override that function but not effective. How to fix it ?

I have a simple html page with some javascript where if i click a link, it will show a flash video in a div using the swfobject.embedSWF function. I did a test: Uninstalled flash from my machine, then reloaded the page and clicked the link...I correctly saw no video. I then installed flash and came back to the same page (no reload) and the embed still won't work. I know in swfobject 1.5 (I'm now using 2.2), I would be able to embed the swf after the user installs flash, but now the user needs to reload the page in order to get the flash to appear. This is not good for my current situation, anyone know what is going on here? Here is sample code using a youtube video:

The "modern" updated way to embed a flash object, according to Adobe:

Then it works on Firefox and Chrome (the AS function is called and works properly) - (it doesn't work in IE though). How come it doesn't work with an object tag? How "safe" it is to use the embed tag instead of the object tag? Is it not obsolete? Note, that it is definitely not a timing issue - If I call the AS function from JS from an onclick function - then the results are the same.

I have a flash object on my page and I want to disable clicks on it using Javascript. I tried to use the following code:
document.getElementById('flash-obj').onclick = function(){return false;};
document.getElementById('flash-obj').onmouseup = function(){return false;};
document.getElementById('flash-obj').onmousedown = function(){return false;};
It doesn't work. Is there any other alternative?

I would want to catch click with javascript on a embed flash object on my page. I used wmode="opaque" (tried transparent too) and put a low z-index. I tried catching click on a div, on the object element and on the embed element. On FF (5), all three of them work. On IE (7 & 8), none of them work. i am wanting to know how much I can be sure that users of my website will not be able to pass bogus variables to my Flash movie. Basically I will have some features available to certain users and I realise that for the average user they will not know anything about how to send spoof vars but is it possible for someone to change the variables sent using SWFObject when a page loads and thus be able to use the functionality that I am trying to disable for them.I have a PHP (my_flash_movie.php) page that calls a function from an included globals.php file to determine if the user can see the restricted functionality is_ user_a_subscriber($_SESSION['user_id']); which returns 1 or 0. This 1 or 0 is then passed to Flash which enables or disables certain features. I dont want someone to be able to send a 1 instead of a 0 basically. This isnt a site where security is critical and the functionality that is disabled is not really critical either so wouldnt be too bad if this happened but im just curious about this and wondering if I should think of another way to pass these vars that might be more hidden.

the script i wrote is working fine. but the script attached to the flash player which i have no control over is throwing a script error (im using IE8).how can i fix this? if i run it locally there is no error.

I have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic.The flash video loops every 30 seconds.As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded.Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.

Here's the challenge: I have a Flash movie which will be embedded in a page using an unknown DOM ID that I want to be able to identify/store for callback in a JS function. My ideal user flow would be: User clicks button in Flash. Flash pauses any animations / video / sounds / etc. Flash calls an injected JS function to display a page-covering overlay experience. When user closes overlay experience, a callback method on the Flash object is called. Flash resumes playback.
The problem is, when AS3 uses the ExternalInterface.call("functionName", args...) method, there doesn't seem to be a DOM event triggered, and thus it is impossible to tell which object called a JS function, so having a "registerMe()" function doesn't seem to work. Basically, the injected JS function has no way to determine which DOM object to call, because the ID of the Flash object is unknown.

I am refactoring some code. I have a PHP page that contains a MySQL query and stores the result in a PHP variable $my_result. This result is then echoed to a Flash SWF during embedding with SWFObject. I now want to call this PHP page that makes the query from a javascript function like so - one change I have made to the PHP is that instead of storing the result in a variable $my_result I am echoing the result. I have a large module written in JS which uses Canvas to draw and animate trees. This module was written for a product which is now being migrated to flex.
Is there a way in flex to embed this JS module as is? Or would I have to rewrite the whole module in AS3 (shudder)? Further, if embedding is possible, would user interactions (mouse clicks) etc. work seamlessly?

I need to suppress the default right click menu for flash embeds.
I've set menu to false, as well as used a stop default function on the right click event, but it still displays the menu.
Also, I don't have access to the .fla's, as the flash objects weren't created by me.

We can obviously provide embed code to users such as.[code]which is what every (ok, so not every, but the vast majority) video sharing site does (YouTube, Break, Vimeo etc).However, somebody's pointed out that we could also provide a JavaScript embed link as follows:[code]What's the disadvantage of the JS embed option? The advantage is obvious, it's a nicer URL for the user, less characters to place in their site. I'm worried about security here, as somebody who doesn't know JavaScript; is this an inherently insecure way of doing things? And if the JavaScript URL is fine, how come none of the well-known sites do it?
