P.S.: I am aware of and I know how to change the color of the scrollbar. That is not what's expected. Also i think it's made possible by Javascript.

I have a bunch of blueprints of site plans, elevations, maps, etc. that I like to keep at full size (24"x36",30"x42", 36"x48", etc.) and it worked great with Flashpaper until I bought a new computer with Vista
I have tried Print2Flash (I don't think they print larger than 24"x36" and even then the resolution is srewed up). I have also used Scribd (all of these large PDF files keep crashing). Are there any other special browsers for these large PDFs? I would like to embed the browser into my flash page, but I also want to control the size and dimensions of the browser within the page. I have seen one or two websites that now have Acrobat Reader 9? resized within the main website window.

I'm trying to make an mp3 player that passes javascript events to a flash file. I'm not very saavy in flash so this may be a simple question.. but how do you make a "movie-less" flash file? Is it possible to just embed an actionscript file? Because that is really all I need to run. Side note: What is the easiest (and fastest) way to pass params to actionscript using javascript?

View 1 Repliesi am wanting to know how much I can be sure that users of my website will not be able to pass bogus variables to my Flash movie. Basically I will have some features available to certain users and I realise that for the average user they will not know anything about how to send spoof vars but is it possible for someone to change the variables sent using SWFObject when a page loads and thus be able to use the functionality that I am trying to disable for them.I have a PHP (my_flash_movie.php) page that calls a function from an included globals.php file to determine if the user can see the restricted functionality is_ user_a_subscriber($_SESSION['user_id']); which returns 1 or 0. This 1 or 0 is then passed to Flash which enables or disables certain features. I dont want someone to be able to send a 1 instead of a 0 basically. This isnt a site where security is critical and the functionality that is disabled is not really critical either so wouldnt be too bad if this happened but im just curious about this and wondering if I should think of another way to pass these vars that might be more hidden.

I have a simple html page with some javascript where if i click a link, it will show a flash video in a div using the swfobject.embedSWF function. I did a test: Uninstalled flash from my machine, then reloaded the page and clicked the link...I correctly saw no video. I then installed flash and came back to the same page (no reload) and the embed still won't work. I know in swfobject 1.5 (I'm now using 2.2), I would be able to embed the swf after the user installs flash, but now the user needs to reload the page in order to get the flash to appear. This is not good for my current situation, anyone know what is going on here? Here is sample code using a youtube video:

All good but there are no scroll bars on the browser when I make the browser window smaller? Search took me to this thread- http: [url]....The solution there is "find the parameter in your CSS that states "overflow: auto" or "overflow: hidden" and change it to "overflow: scroll".I did that and now I see a white scroll track in the browser but no actual scroll bar? If you go here:and view my flash site at a resolution of 1024x768 in Firefox it has a vertical scroll bar in the browser but not a horizontal scroll bar (is there a way to make it have a horizontal scroll also) because you can't see all the copyright into at the bottom right. Also, Internet Explorer opens the page with NO scrollbars at all (you can't even scroll down to see the content)

All I'm doing is creating a new VScrollBar, setting it's coordinates, a width and height and doing an addChild but it's not showing up. I'm adding other components too that do show up in the same code so that shouldn't not be the problem.What might I be missing?

I'm looking for a way to disable the scrolling of the vertical and horizontal scrollbars when scrolling the mouse. I use the mouse scroll to zoom in and out, and I don't want the scrollbars to scroll while scrolling the mouse wheel.. (But I do need the scrollbars to be visible).

View 1 RepliesI have created a website which consists of pages created from flash and dreamweaver (with embedded swf navigation bar at top of webpage)Once the home page is loaded there is a button to visit the page created with DW (with embedded swf nav bar). This works fine if I run the web from my computer locally.But if I write these entire website on a CD and access all the files from CD and then try to open the same html page from the same button in IE9; it does not work. It just keep showing the progress nothing happens. Interestingly, everything works fine on google chrome browser from the CD and also works fine from the other computer with Xp and IE8. But does not work on Windows 7 with IE9 from a CD specifically.
I have also tried to use the option in DW (called "Convert active content") for that page.which added that .js file and script on the html code. even after that does not work.I have also turned on the option "run active content from the cd" internet option for IE9 and "activex filtering" is also off on the security tab of tools of IE9.
The floating elements stop floating on the y axis when javascript resizes the scrollbars.
It seems that when externalinterface calls the resize function that after that then flash uses that value as the Stage.height value.
I need a way for the scrollbars to be forced to accomodate 2000 px worth of content. But still have the elements float within the actual open browser window which could be much smaller than 2000.
I have tried this and it doesn't seem to work. In the example below the movie on the right (boy in the hat) is embedded using this procedure but the two on the left (paws moving on order button and dog animation) had to be installed using Dreamweaver's swf installation methodology. and, consequently the dog animation does not show up in Explorer 8 and some other browsers.

Is there any way to make a full browser swf that, at a certain point, stops scaling to the stage and allows the browser to use it's native scrollbars? For example, say my flash site has a top bar (it's y is always 0) and a bottom bar (it's y might be stageHeight - 15). Is there any way to tell the movie to stop scaling if the bottom bar's y is less than say 300, and from that point have the browser display it's scrollbars allowing you to scroll the content?

I have added a new flash moovie to my website, the problem i have is that in Mozilla, Google Chrome and possibly more the side scrollbars disapear, however in IE they show perfectly. i can not show a url as i have to leave the old page up until i can find out what is causing the problem.

After I resize the scrollbar - done through javascript (clicking a pink button) the floating element will reposition on the y axis but stop floating.
