View 16 RepliesI need to create a flash intro. One of those that sits on top of the page for a couple of seconds, showing publicity but with some transparency for the users to see what's under it (the page itself). Can anyone tell me how to do that? I just can't seem to find a way to load a flash swf without being embed on the page.
View 2 RepliesI am doing some pre-production on a project that requires drawing on a 3d canvas, which I think flash is the best way to go. But there is a chance down the line that this client might want the site to show up on the ipad, iphone or other mobile devices that don't support flash.
So I was playing with the idea of doing everything in html and javascript except for the actual drawing/3D area. Almost like using flash as the element. I think html5 is too premature to start using this, but might be beneficial down the line. Chances are I will just go the entire flash route, but I thought it would be interesting to try. question is pretty top level. 1) how hard would it be to drag an object from an html page using javascript, and dropping it into the flashplayer. And then manipulating it from there.
Are there any examples out there that have tried to do this?
Let me give the context first. A user opens a local html file which has a reference to a network url of an swf file to embed.
(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request?
(
2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?
Will a flash movie the size of of the logo area for example[url]...
slow site down when visitors first open site, my friends said no but the whole movie has to load as well correct[url]...
I have a swf which is 1700px wide.I want to embed it to a page so it won't have scrollbars even if the browser window is smaller then 1700.But I need it not to be resized down

View 2 RepliesI have a an unobtrusive flash video looping in the background of a website, it is not essential to navigation - it is purely cosmetic. The flash video loops every 30 seconds. As this video is on all pages, it jumps back to the start when a new page is loaded. Is there an actionscript / javascript way to get it to remember the position it got to on the old page so it can start there on the new page?I do know that this can be accomplished by loading the flash movie in a frame as well as by having the subsequent pages load the contents in AJAX but I was hoping not to go down this route.I have seen other people ask the question and allude to the solution but they only posted that they got it to work without saying how.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to load an external swf with a number of quotes into an empty movie clip on the home page. then I want it to obviously disappear when nav to any other page.
1) know that you need a loaderEmpty_mc to load the swf into
2) don't know code for how to get it to load on entering the home page
3) don't know how to cdde for leaving the home page and making it disappear
Im working on a website for school, and im doing it through flash. The server ive been given is being taken up by thousands of pages, so its slow. Instead of loading each page through HTML, ive decided i could do a seperate frame for each page. However, to reach the menu at the bottom, you have to scroll down. Is there any way to make it so that when you click a button to load a different page for the flash player to scroll up all the way to the top of the page itself?
View 1 RepliesI taught myself enough AS2.0 to configure flashpaper within my flash portfolio. I have a bunch of blueprints of site plans, elevations, maps, etc. that I like to keep at full size (24"x36",30"x42", 36"x48", etc.) and it worked great with Flashpaper until I bought a new computer with Vista
I have tried Print2Flash (I don't think they print larger than 24"x36" and even then the resolution is srewed up). I have also used Scribd (all of these large PDF files keep crashing). Are there any other special browsers for these large PDFs? I would like to embed the browser into my flash page, but I also want to control the size and dimensions of the browser within the page. I have seen one or two websites that now have Acrobat Reader 9? resized within the main website window.
how to embed flash actionscript in a html page, where you can see difference in colorslike you see in the flash actionscript panel, or working with flashdevelop ?
View 2 RepliesDoes anybody know how to embed an external HTML page into Flash? I am envisioning something like an iFrame, but can't really figure how this would work. I've attempted using a scrollpane, but it didn't work at all.

I'm embedding a Flex app in a WordPress page using Matt Carpenter's great plugin. It's a map created using Google Maps' Flash API.
I'm getting an initialization failure. Is that because the API key is in the Flex app and Google can't "see" it? [code]...
I have added an swf in my php page using embed and object of HTML.It loads the SWF in http:[url]...... and working fine, but when i apply url rewriting then the swf is not shown on the page although $_REQUEST['action'] prints edit .The URL i am using is http:[url]...
View 1 RepliesI have created a website which consists of pages created from flash and dreamweaver (with embedded swf navigation bar at top of webpage)Once the home page is loaded there is a button to visit the page created with DW (with embedded swf nav bar). This works fine if I run the web from my computer locally. But if I write these entire website on a CD and access all the files from CD and then try to open the same html page from the same button in IE9; it does not work. It just keep showing the progress nothing happens. Interestingly, everything works fine on google chrome browser from the CD and also works fine from the other computer with Xp and IE8. But does not work on Windows 7 with IE9 from a CD specifically.
I have also tried to use the option in DW (called "Convert active content") for that page.which added that .js file and script on the html code. even after that does not work.I have also turned on the option "run active content from the cd" internet option for IE9 and "activex filtering" is also off on the security tab of tools of IE9.
This might be more of a Safari thing rather than Flash being that I've not seen this happen on any other browser or OS, but would anyone have any idea why this Flash embed of our player is offset as it is in Safari:?
[URL]
Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for those not in Safari:The weird thing is that it seems to only be *visually* offset; that is, if you roll over the area with your mouse, you'll see that it interacts as if it's in the right place and not offset; the browser treats it like it's in the right place, but it's visually offset to the top-left some dozens of pixels...
I have tried this and it doesn't seem to work. In the example below the movie on the right (boy in the hat) is embedded using this procedure but the two on the left (paws moving on order button and dog animation) had to be installed using Dreamweaver's swf installation methodology. and, consequently the dog animation does not show up in Explorer 8 and some other browsers.

I'm trying to make an mp3 player that passes javascript events to a flash file. I'm not very saavy in flash so this may be a simple question.. but how do you make a "movie-less" flash file? Is it possible to just embed an actionscript file? Because that is really all I need to run. Side note: What is the easiest (and fastest) way to pass params to actionscript using javascript?
View 2 RepliesI was wondering if there is a way to embed a youtube video in a flash page using actionscript 3. I have found several examples online for actionscript 2, but I need it in 3. If there isn't a way, is there a way to somehow open a new frame or something that I can just put html in?
View 1 RepliesI am attempting to load a SWF into a container on my main stage.
I need to load the swf into a specified dimension on my stage to fit with the rest of the site.
Is this possible?
I have tried the loadmovie code and all i am getting is the swf blowing out to full screen when i upload it to the web.
I need to embed a SWF on a website. The swf is this interactive map at [URL](where it says select your region). So I found the SWF file and I tried to embed it on a test page, and its not working correctly. [URL] I don't know anything about flash, but the code I used was this:
Code:
<embed src=" [URL] The map is showing up, but the continents regions are not click-able, and the drop down text is not showing the continents.
i am wanting to know how much I can be sure that users of my website will not be able to pass bogus variables to my Flash movie. Basically I will have some features available to certain users and I realise that for the average user they will not know anything about how to send spoof vars but is it possible for someone to change the variables sent using SWFObject when a page loads and thus be able to use the functionality that I am trying to disable for them.I have a PHP (my_flash_movie.php) page that calls a function from an included globals.php file to determine if the user can see the restricted functionality is_ user_a_subscriber($_SESSION['user_id']); which returns 1 or 0. This 1 or 0 is then passed to Flash which enables or disables certain features. I dont want someone to be able to send a 1 instead of a 0 basically. This isnt a site where security is critical and the functionality that is disabled is not really critical either so wouldnt be too bad if this happened but im just curious about this and wondering if I should think of another way to pass these vars that might be more hidden.
View 3 RepliesBasically, i have a problem where i have two flash modules which are an image gallery XML-based and a flash mp3 player. both of them are in their individual swfs with some massive scripting. How do i import these two swfs into my main swf without actually disrupting their individual scripts?
View 1 RepliesI have been working on a project where three swf need to be loaded into three different containers on my stage as soon as I press a button. So far all I managed to accomplish is that only one of the swf loads but not in the right location. I tried to give it the x and y coordinates wherer I want the swf to appear, but still it loads somewhere else. What can I do?
[code]...
line 2 and 3 are temporarily commented I used the same code for all three swf changing naturally the instance names, but these do not load or if they do they are loading behind the one that shows on the stage.
I wonderd if it was possible to do so when clicking on one of the options in the ComboBox, it could load an .swf into an container?
Maybe with:
Code:
container.loadMovie("sound.swf");
Inside my /test folder/music_player/ have have a file called mini_player.swf. If I play it without embedding it anywhere, like this: [URL].. everything is OK. But when I add it into my index page: [URL].. the song doesn't start.
