Flash Uploader - Requests Host/crossdomain.xml File?
Jan 24, 2011
I'm using YUI file uploader based on flash, and the flash requests host/crossdomain.xml file. I'm requesting localhost and it requires this file. I was using this before and I have never had this problem and I've never had this file on my server.I've never used any adobe technologies, could please anybody tell me if it is possible to turn it off somehow ?The problem is that I can't have the file on my server, at least at root location...

I'm trying to make a flash uploader. The issue however that has me stumped the uploader doesn't seem to be calling the php file. I'm watching in httpfox and its dosen't seem to be calling any file. Yet it appears to be uploading. It never actually uploads anything but it acts normally I don't get any errors I check the logs I don't see any issues in the logs. I have an html uploader that works fine. What else is there to check?! BTW this is on a server with self assigned cert I know there are issues with that but wouldn't it complain instead of not doing anything?

I'm looking for a flash uploader that doesn't need javascript/jquery. I'm not familiar at all with javascript so my attempts at flash/js hybrid uploaders have all failed to integrate with my script.

When I upload file using a simple uploader the file does not appear on the servers directory..Everything is working, the preloader the status text etc, as if it is uploading the file but nothing appears on the server I am not very sound in php The code goes like this:-
Code:
Select allSystem.security.allowDomain("http://localhost/");
//import the FileReference Object
import flash.net.FileReference;
//initial settings - since no upload file type selet yet user cannot upload a file
uploadButn.enabled = false;
//create a new FileReference object
var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
[Code] .....
I have given a folder called uploads on the server and that is where files are supposed to come. Also I have given the correct name of php file which is upload.php in the fileRef.upload But its not working.

I have updated the crossdomain.xml security settings for my site - but it seems that the older version is being cached in both IE and Chrome.I've checked the headers sent by the server and it's not sending any cache control headers that would be forcing the browsers to be caching crossdomain.xml.
In an attempt to get around the issue I've also linked to my crossdomain.xml file in an iframe on the site. This hasn't worked though and flash still seems to be using the old security settings.

I'm using FlowPlayer to replace an existing FLV player on my site that plays videos from Amazon E3. I have many pages and each should show a different video. For each page, I have a value stored in my CMS that is the "streamName". The stream name corresponds to a flashvars paramenter in the object/embed tags that show the video player:&streamName=my-great-video
On my new player, I'm able to get the video using a URL similar to [URL] How Does Flash (or Amazon???) know to add in the .swf extension? There are several video formats used on the site, and the current player works with them all... But, as I mentioned above, on each page the value store for the video (ex="my-great-video") includes no extension.

I do not want to intertop between c# and AS3 or here. I want a full screen content player in C# which can host a Adobe Flash swf file. Is there an example? In full screen, right clicks would have custom behavior attached.I saw one in Visual c++. As per Chris's I checked the link. I tried adding these lines of code:
path = @"D:exampleFlexMainMenu.swf";
axShockwaveFlash1.LoadMovie(0, path);
axShockwaveFlash1.Play();
However, this swf was from Flash Builder and not Flash, hence there were other files like
framework_4.1.0.16076.swz rpc_4.1.0.16076.swz sparkskins_4.1.0.16076.swz
osmf_flex.4.0.0.13495.swz spark_4.1.0.16076.swz textLayout_1.1.0.604.swz
playerProductInstall.swf

How can I consume a webservice that hasn't explicitely created a crossdomain.xml? I understand it's for security and to prevent cross-site scripting, but it does seem like a major limitation to the Flex framework. For example, if I want to consume a webservice, which is suppose to be language agnostic, then I can't with Flex. The webservice/server has to be specifically prepared for Flex/Flash. If it's not, then it cannot be consumed.

We have a lot of crossdomain.xml files at my company. Every service that has Flash availability needs one. Keeping them in sync is annoying, so I'd like to be able to have just one crossdomain.xml file hosted somewhere, and then http redirect (302) all the requests to that central location. Is this possible? I can't find documentation anywhere on the web about the rules.

I monitor (and log to server) most user errors in our flash game. Quite frequently I see security errors related to trying to make requests to a cross-domain URL (usually the Facebook Graph API). 99% of our players can make these graph API calls with no issues.What I think is going on is that the client makes a request, but fails to load the crossdomain.xml file. I don't quite know how AS3 handles this in the case of a failure to load the crossdomain policy file...will it retry for every URLRequest made until it succeeds in loading it, or does it just give up forever?

Initially I had a 2039 error I resolved this by using a local testing server, which resulted in a 2038 error. So then I hard coded the url and now I dont get any errors but the file doesnt upload.
Instead a file is created (FileUpload.cs) in the directory where the files should be.
Does anyone know what this FileUpload.cs file is?

I've got a small client/server test application where I have a Flex app that makes an HTTP request of a server app. The server app is a script running on my local machine, listening on port 8001. The client is a swf that I am running locally, and uses mx.rpc.http.HTTPService to make the page request.
The HTTPService is being set up as per below:
_HttpService = new HTTPService();
_HttpService.url = "http://localhost:8001";
_HttpService.contentType = "text/xml";
When I make a basic page request, my server app is first receiving a "GET /crossdomain.xml HTTP/1.1" request, which is failing since I don't have a crossdomain.xml file in place. The reason I don't have one in place is because this is all happening on my local machine (for now) and I shouldn't need one (I don't think).
I definitely had this code working before without a crossdomain.xml when I was using Flex 3.x. I thought I had it working with Flex 4 as well. Now I'm using Flex 4.5. Is there an issue here, possibly due to security policy changes?With all of this happening on localhost, why is the Flash player requesting a crossdomain.xml file?

I am making a file uploader but it is giving me this error: "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2039: Invalid remote URL protocol. The remote URL protocol must be HTTP or HTTPS."
but on a server it seems to work (the progress listener shows the files are being loaded [use the scrollbuttons or scroll over the text area]), until all is done and the files dont appear on the server.
Below is all my code. I hope someone can help me through this, it is really important atm. I've tried some tutorials and sources but can't find the error.

I'm trying to find something that will let users upload multiple files to a website. The requirements are that it let them easily select multiple files (preferably with something like check boxes) and that it displays a preview of the images they select.
I'd prefer to only use Javascript or Flash if possible, but Java is also an option (this needs to work on platforms where Silverlight isn't available). So far all I've been able to find are things that use the native file selector (which doesn't show previews on Windows, and makes it unclear that you can select multiple by holding ctrl). I'm not sure if the preview requirement is even possible, but it's the most important.

Im looking for a jquery or ajax file uploader, Im currently using the FancyUploader which worked great until Flash brought out their update making all flash progress bars absolete, now whenever I try to upload large files... it will fill the progress bar to 100% in a matter of seconds even though the actual upload finished minutes after. So im now looking for a new uploading script that DOESNT require flash but can still display the progress.

i'm trying to create a multiple file uploader using FileReference. The user should be able to select more than one file but i don't want to use FileReferenceList for this. So instead the user opens the Browse dialog, picks a file then opens up the Browse dialog again, picks another file etc.
To make this work i'm trying to copy the FileReference object into an array, but this isn't really working. Here's how i do it:
fileref.as
import flash.net.FileReference;
class fileref { public var fileRef:FileReference;// = new FileReference();}
[Code].....
And how can i make it so, that i can add multiple files..??

I am creating a Host movie, where 5-6 buttons will be loaded from. However, I am having difficulties coding each button to open an swf file. Here is the code I have to try and load my ipod button.
stop();
ipod_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,ipod_btn);
function ipod_btn(event:MouseEvent) {var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("ipod.swf");
var loader:Loader = new Loader()loader.load(request);
addChild(loader);}
However, it doesn't do anything and I get these compiler errors
1023: Incompatible override.
1021: Duplicate function definition.

I have an actionscript file which provides me with xml data. But I m not being able to save it to the local host machine. The code i m using to save the file is just the normal one i.e
var xml : XML = <save><instruments/></save>;
var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
fileRef.save(xml,"NewFileName.xml");
I've tried saving the data as byteArray first n saving it in a xml file. That didnt work. I've flash player 10 installed and I m working in Flash Professional CS5. I have also used a hex editor and changed my swf file's 7th and 8th bits from 09 to some A0 as directed in a website but I m always getting an error which is
1061: Call to a possibly undefined method save through a reference with static type flash.net:FileReference.

I have a sweet XML gallery that works perfectly fine, offline and when I drag the swf file to any internet browser. The problem that Im having is when I go to my web host and try uploading the .as file I get a message that says my web host doesn't support this type of file. I can't nest the action script 3.0 code from my .as file into my swf because my .as file contains packaged code. Is there anyway I can convert this .as file into something else.. like another xml or is there a way I can nest this packaged code into my swf or fla file? The fla files I am using can be downloaded here [URL].

I have 2 sites using their own version of the same email.php file accessed by a contact form in Flash - one copy is sent to an email address on the site domain and another to the originator. On one of the two sites the email never arrived then I noticed "crossdomain.xml not found" in the web browser activity log so I googled it and then placed this file in the root directory:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "[URL]">
<cross-domain-policy>
<site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="master-only"/>
<allow-access-from domain="*"/>
<allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*" headers="SOAPAction"/>
</cross-domain-policy>
Now the email address with the same domain arrives but the originator does not receive his copy (can be any domain). It's weird that the 2 sites are not consistent?
