I am creating a component that will be a large plus or a large minus. I don't want to use a bitmap because even I can draw this using the Graphics class, but the component must be clickable (the Shape class is not). It will be part of an item renderer, so I want it to be as light-weight as possible. UIComponent does not seem to sent CLICK messages.

When I do the above on a List component, the hand button is shown and the whole component loses it's interactivity (Hand cursor is shown even on scrollbars).
So how can I show the hand cursor only when rolling over the list items?
I have a Group screen component with some Path elements inside. The Group has a (default) style, and the Path has a (default) stroke. When the program starts, (on initialize) loads from a server (via HTTPService) some data that includes different styles for the Group, and it may also include different color/width for the Path stroke. If the styles/stroke attributes are not included in the server response, then the component will be shown with the defaults.

How can I cause numbers with no value to show up blank instead of NaN on forms?Let's say I have a User class with an optional weight (kgs) value, of type Number. If I edit a User in Flex I get the user object from the server and bind weightInput.text to user.weight. If weight is null on the server it will be translated to NaN in Flex, and then the value of weight in the edit form showes up as NaN. That is really inconvenient, as I would like it to just be blank if it has no value.

View 2 RepliesI want is the Hand Cursor when it moves over an item in the List. I've tried the CellRenderer on it but that elimates all but my last item in the list. And it does show the Hand Cursor over that item. This seems pretty simple to me but I am missing something somewhere. I used a Listener on a Data List I had but think there must be a simpler way. In my List I can view the activeCellRenderers and can see that the useHandCursor on that item is set to false. I think this is where it needs to cahnge?

View 2 RepliesFinding descendants are easy. But how do you find an ancestor? Consider the attached XML. How would I find the group whose ancestor is subitem(@id=1)? I can get subitem easily, but I don't know how to determine what group it's in.
I would imagine a syntax something like this:
xml.group..(@id==8)
or
var subitem = xml..subitem.(@id==8)[0];
xml.group.(contains(subitem))
But I can't find a way other than to iterate the tree upward from subitem using parent().
I can't figure out why the event listener callback function isn't being fired when a child object is being clicked. Since the "SelectionPoint" object is a child of this class, shouldn't the listener get notified of the MouseEvent.CLICK event during the capture phase?

I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. View 3 RepliesI have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:

so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?

Where template is a canvas. Its rotate nicely but the problem is the position is not in right place. i.e. it is not in (50,50) after rotate.
I am creating an application that requires a user to draw their hand signature on a tablet. Does anyone the best way to do this on Flex mobile 4.5? What do I draw on to, a Sprite, canvas?
Also, I would need to save the signature as a .jpg, could this be done?

View 1 RepliesI want to implement an flex application using actionscript 3: with the camera and the virture buttons(like a image) in the camera, one can move his hand to pass over the virture button field in order to fire the button. Now my solution is following this way: capture the button field in every frame to get a bitmapdata, and calculate the gray-scale summation of the bitmapdata, if the difference between the two frames is greater than a given value, then fire the button. Actually, it could work, but it is very sensible to the lighting condition of the background, worse, when there are more than one buttons, people often fire the button by mistake.

It still exists on the view and responds normally to the mouse event, but i cant see it.here's an code example:

without the mouse event, the group is visible, but it vanishes when i try to add it. i've tried with other events, like the ENTER_FRAME Event and it works normaly, but all the mouse events that i tried turn the Group invisible.i've actually solved my problem using the opaqueBackground property, the Group don't vanish when i add the event this whay. But now i'm curious about the reason of this behavior.
