But then the returned XML may contain information for a single line series or for all the lineseries. View 1 RepliesI have plot chart with an 'itemRenderer' to render the text. I have the renderer working corrrectly. Now, what I want to show/hide some of the chart tiems if it's below/above some value. I am using the 'Label' component as 'itemRenderer' and overriding the 'data' function (find my renderer component below..).
If the size of the dataprovider of the chart is greater than '100', I want to hide all the 'events' with 'low' severity. For that I need to get a reference to the dataprovider, but not sure how... ?

I would like to be able to specify the placement of a legend for a linechart. Currently, it continues to appear to the right of the chart. I have tried playing with the width/height of the chart to no avail... Putting the legend before the linechart in the mxml causes it to appear to the left. I can't seem to get it appear at the bottom though. I can't seem to find any good examples for this. They don't seem to specify anything but the legend usually shows up below the chart, I can't seem to do it.

1) I would like the box that the user drags over the graph to remain there until the user drags a new one.
2) In the top right corner of the box I want to display the sum of the items selected by that box.
Is it possible to tell flex to display a chart with no visible axis? I want the contents of the chart to take up all the available space. I can set the visibility on the AxisRenderer to false which will hide the axis but that leaves an empty space where the axis would usually be. How can I remove this empty space?

I've tried setting the height on the renderer but that has no effect, and there is no height style on the axis itself.
I have a line chart with a column chart as a secondary series. When I roll over the line, the datatips appear. However, if I move the mouse to a spot where a column appears while still on the line, the data tip item appears for the line AND the column. How do I get it so that I only show datatips for the line but not the column?

I have a List of items which is based on the contents of the "category" that a user selects
When the user changes selection, I change the dataProvider of the list be be the contents of the current category.
Sometimes the list contains items, sometimes it does not
Is there a way of hiding the list when it has no items?
I know that I could do this when setting the dataProvider, but it seems like there should be an event or something else that I could be using.
My Flex chart has code that creates a legend from each data series. Currently, I have the drawLegend function execute when a button is clicked.
I am trying to get the legend to draw automatically but I am having trouble determining when to call the drawLegend function. Users click on an 'Update' button which retrieves data. I want the legend to get created after this, without the users having to click on another button.
I have put my drawLegend function in several places (ResultHandler, afterEffectEnd(for chart animation, etc.) and nothing works.
Sometime after the series has been added to the chart and after the series animation ends, the legend can be added.
How can I trap this point in time and call my function?
Below is the code I used to create the legend. Note that even though the code processes each series, I noticed that the Fill color is null if it is called too early.

In flex charting, I want to draw something like "reference lines" which are related to specific series, therefore these lines are not independent series and should not be shown in legend. Is it possible to exclude some series from chart legend?

View 1 RepliesI'm creating a custom legend using legendItemClass to highlight each item when the user rolls over, remove it when they roll off and highlight it a little differently when they click. That all works just fine but I also want the pie wedge to explode out when the user click. I have the piece of code but it requires a LegendMouseEvent. I'm also thinking I may be able to re-write the code if I could get the displayName but I'm a loss with that as well. Here's what I have:

Instead of having legend scroll, I want to make it multi-columnar. I will fix the height of legend, and if the items exceed the legend, then it should extend one more column to display extra legend and so on.

However, if the mouse is not moved, the datatip from the first chart is now visible on the second chart. Is there a way to hide the datatip when the first bar is clicked and then show the new datatip for the second chart once it's visible?
View 0 RepliesI'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I am having an issue with ColdFusion's CFChart tag. I have a couple graphs that do not display properly. For a horizontal bar chart, when attempting to display 50 or more chart data items, the graph's bar labels stop plotting, but keeps plotting the bars themselves once it gets to bar number 50. I noticed making the chart height larger makes the issue worse as well. If i go from 1000px pixels to 2000px, it stopped plotting labels even sooner. The query that populates the chart items do not return blank label names either. See the screen below, the labels should keep plotting after "7 to 1".
I am running on ColdFusion 8 Developer Edition. Is this a possible limitation for ColdFusion's native charting capabilities? Or should I consider checking out Flex Charting instead?

Here x axis would be common and y axis would be different. note that y axis got different range of value one is % and other is amount. Any one got idea how to make this chart. View 11 RepliesI am implementing a LineChart in FLEX 4. I have the chart working well except I do not like the default colors and cannot use them, as they do not relate to my data very well. For instance, Orange is not a great default color for my data column "Outdoor temperature". I would rather override it and use a green color if possible.
When I explicitly specify the SolidColorStroke, like so, this breaks the LineChart Legend:

^ With this code, The LineChart Legend stops displaying the color for that specific LineSeries, and only displays in black.
How can I override the LineSeries stroke color and persist those colors to the Legend's display?
Is this a FLEX 4 bug? I noticed in FLEX 3 examples (even on Adobe's FLEX 3 Help website) you can override the stroke colors and it persists to the Chart Legend.
I have made a flash application and in this flash application I have included a jigsaw puzzle. The application is wrote on one timeline and certain frames are used as different pages within the application.
The problem is once the jigsaw drag and drop are moved the pieces are displayed on all frames instead of just the one jigsaw puzzle frame I created.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
How can I Create an animated Bar Chart or Line Chart type of component in flash programmatically, which should depends upon an incoming XML data, the chart should have the basic criteria like, Chart Label, Item Tooltips, background grids (without using any image). View 1 RepliesMy group is working on a Flex/AS3 scientific web application that is data intensive. Luckily the only plots involved are line charts. However, each line chart may have multiple traces (up to 24), and each trace may contain up to 2000 points. The user will need to zoom in and out and interact with the data (e.g. data tips, etc.).
The response I'm getting from developers is that's a lot of data to render in a plot in Flash. For reasons beyond the scope of this post, we can't sample the data to reduce the size (this has already been done and nature of the data prevents further sampling).
Rendering speed is critical for this app. What kind of rendering speed should I expect the Flex 4 line chart component to provide for a given number of points (e.g. 1 second to render 1000 points?)
Are there products available that handle plotting large data sets better, which can be incorporated in Flex (I've seen FusionCharts and ZingCharts online but have no idea how they compare with Flex's components)? Of those, which are easy to develop with while still providing a lot of flexibility in look and feel?
Flex charts, like AreaChart, have wonderful built-in support for displaying data "tool tips" when a user hovers over a point supplied in the data of a graph. You can hover over any of the bar graph examples on this page for a demonstration. I have a graph situation where I optionally draw in some dots as reference points on CartesianDataCanvases supplied to my AreaChart through it's <mx:annotationElements> and <mx:backgroundElements> tags.
I would like to have the same hover data-tip functionality that the AreaChart has, but applied to these dots. I realize that I am just drawing on canvas, and that no actual dataProvider supports these dots, but if there was a way to supply the CartesianDataCanvas with an array of data values or something to that effect,
