I was wondering if we could get some insight as to how an effect similar to the one found here would be achieved?I've seen a lot of this style of animating in Flash. The image creation isn't a concern, it's how to get such fluid animation on the hair/smoke type of effects.

One thing that seems particularly easy to do in the Flash IDE but difficult to do with code is to outline an organic shape. In the IDE you can just use the inkbucket tool to draw a stroke around something. Using nothing but code it seems much trickier. One method I've seen is to add a glow filter to the shape in question and just mess with the strength. But what if i want to only show the outline?What I'd like to do is to collect all of the points that make up the edge of the shape and then just connect the dots. I've actually gotten so far as to collect all of the points with a quick and dirty edge detection script that I wrote. So now I have a Vector of all the points that makeup my shape. How do I connect them in the proper sequence so it actually looks like the original object?[code]

View 1 RepliesI try to archieve a Tooltip-Design with an organic/liquid behaviour.In the end, it should look something like this:The behaviour should be, that when the mouse/cursor is moving, the Tooltips tail reshapes and followes the new coordinate while the body-part of the tooltip is following with an ease:As you can see in the motion-scibble I've already break down the Shape to its grounds Little Big Planet got a similar effect. Here your can see a part where they use a simple version of this Tail-Feature (which got only 3 Points and a Bezierlin I guess) and here you can see a Video where those Goodie-Bubbles came up and followed the character on a string. I love this Game for GUI-Events like this I guess the best technique would be to create a bitmap and then draw with the Flash-internal Drawing API Bezierlines and fill them. As simple as its to write this setence as hard I find it to realize this.
I've spend some hours playing with Bitmap-Examples and the BezierSegment-Function. I doint get very far. So I would like to know: Does anyone else done this befor? Maybe its not neccesarry to reinvent the wheel if someone else did something like this before and I can take a shortcut to find out how this is made. Speaking about the tail for example, it must have something to do with the fact, that each Point in the tail-part must be in a relative position to its neighbor-Point so they doint allign or even overlap and forming negative spaces like this:

View 1 RepliesI've been practicing my actionscript a bit lately, i'm especially interested in motion and AI types of AS.I've covered and experimented with stuff like gravity, screenwrapping, bouncing, easing and springing which is all very cool but all these types of motion move in a straight line.What i want to do is learn to create actionscripted motion that moves mc's around randomly in a fluid, organic manner like a living creature rather than in straight lines.I know this probably involves using sin/cos functions and trig so i experimented a bit with this, i produced some stuff that is no longer straight lined but it moves rather jittery. (i think this kind of stuff is called brownian motion)

I have been researching all day and there are many different solutions, none that are straight forward. I am currently in the process of making a website in Dreamweaver which has a flash header. Problem is the flash header reloads when you go to every page. Is there a simple (I'm a noob) way I can get the flash header to stay open at the top of the website, and the content of each page just change when you go to each page. The header consists of a company name and 3 images on the right hand side along with 3 menu tabs below it. When a client clicks on a menu the header stays the same on every page but I would like to have the 3 images in the menu to transition to another set of 3 images as the user clicks on a menu.

View 1 RepliesI've a simple template I purchased with a flash header. There is a top navigation across the top of the header in previewing it. However, no matter how much I try to locate each of the text to change it per button, in the library, all of the buttons have the same name, in this particular, "main page", but NOT the rest of the menu from left to right in preview mode. I've went through every single library item to locate how to simply change the text, that's all for each of the menu items and cannot find the residual text for each button on the top of the preview navigation. In my library there is no navmenu or anything like that. [code]...
So, no where else in the library do I see, in this particular, the text of the residual navigation items which in this case is at the top of the header. This is nuts. I need to change the remaining items in the top navigation, to things like "main page" which already have, then "buying", "selling, "movng" and so forth, but cannot find how to change the current text. So simple, but I can't figure this out.

However I also need to change the colors of the button backgrounds and one of the display fields...I have macromedia flash 8, the fla and swf files.
I work in expressions a lot and not in dreamweaver or macromedia 8; I've opened the files in M8, but this is totally over my head right now.

In the past, I've had no problem with this - LoadVars works just fine.However, on this project, the JSON service that I'm calling requires the http request to include an ACCEPT header with "application/json".
LoadVars has an addRequestHeader method that allows me to add or change HTTP request headers, but according to the documentation, those headers are only sent with POST actions.Of course, in my case, the JSON service only allows GET requests.I tried using addRequestHeader anyway, but the header is not sent.(Of course, I could rebuild the application using AS3, which allows me to use URLLoader and URLRequest, but the application has WAY to much legacy AS2 code...)
I have a flash header on my site - nothing crazy, just a short clip. It works in safari and opera on the mac and all IE versions on PC. It will not work properly on firefox on either PC or Mac. Firefox seems to be putting a gap of 10-20px under the flash I have looked up many fixes for this as it seems to be a known problem. I have seen people say it's because the "object" element it treated like letters in FF, so it allows room for the "tails" on a G and Y etc (not sure if I explained that well enough, hopefully you get the idea). I have tried margin:0; padding:0; line-height:0; font-size:0;
float:left; vertical-align:middle; and clear;both; - not at the same time, I have tried many combinations and got most of these ideas from other threads/articles where people had found a solution. I have tried this CSS on an id attached to the object, on the element object and on the parent div - I just can't seem to fix it! Also, as a side note - I've noticed the flash looks good in IE6, IE7 but IE8 makes it looks awful - can anyone explain why or confirm that is what they see? Im a mac user so borrow a laptop to test, it would be good to hear if anyone else see's this problem.
I have a script, either through Greasemonkey or as a Chrome extension, on a page that contains a Flash application. That flash application sends out POST requests e.g. [URL].
Is it possible for the script running on that same page to capture the request header sent by the Flash code? Kind of like Tamper Data, Fiddler and the like do. EDIT: Just a little more info. I don't need to redirect or alter the request coming from the Flash application. I just to be able to read in the header and save that information in a variable in the user script / extension that is running on the same page.

What i am looking to do is create 5 pages with the same flash header. Links will be below the movie. When people click on the links a new page opens (same window) without reloading the flash file.

I have an HTML website with a flash header and dropdown menu.In the beginning, the flash dropdown menu would not show at all untili found the wmode=transparent trick.The menus are now showing properly except for one specific page wherethe text on the page show up OVER the dropdown menu. In all otherpages, the dropdown menu shows up on top of any text that may be inthere.There's nothing on that particular page jumping at me that would causethe problem. In fact, the page uses the same CSS file as the otherpages. I'm really clueless.I'm not sure if it's a flash problem or HTML/CSS problem.
The only difference i could think of was that the page was called froma combobox change event. But i switched the page called to anotherpage i know works with the menu and it was fine. Ive been doing Photoshop work for some time and am now looking into doing some flash for my website. If you look at my header on my site http:[url].. it is a Jpeg at the momment for the title. What I want to know is that if i replace the header with flash is there away that I can add code so that if someone has a low bandwidth connection it would not load the flash and use the Jpeg image instead. The reason being is I know how bad it is waiting for flash to load on some websites when bandwidth is limited and it would be good to give people the option upon loading.
