i'm getting mad trying to code this mosaic grid with random sized elementsI'm quite used to normal grids, but this one is slightly different, all the elements are NOT square multiples, and once you've tried the "Shake It" button on the upper-right corner, i'm definitely lost

I was wondering if we could get some insight as to how an effect similar to the one found here would be achieved?I've seen a lot of this style of animating in Flash. The image creation isn't a concern, it's how to get such fluid animation on the hair/smoke type of effects.

Flash :: Drawing Outlines Around Organic Shapes

One thing that seems particularly easy to do in the Flash IDE but difficult to do with code is to outline an organic shape. In the IDE you can just use the inkbucket tool to draw a stroke around something. Using nothing but code it seems much trickier. One method I've seen is to add a glow filter to the shape in question and just mess with the strength. But what if i want to only show the outline?What I'd like to do is to collect all of the points that make up the edge of the shape and then just connect the dots. I've actually gotten so far as to collect all of the points with a quick and dirty edge detection script that I wrote. So now I have a Vector of all the points that makeup my shape. How do I connect them in the proper sequence so it actually looks like the original object?[code]

I've been tasked with recreating the Flash portion of this site in html/java/css:[URL]..

I'm fairly new at javascript but I know a good amount of html and css.Trying to figure out where to start. As you can tell from the flash section, this isn't a standard gallery or slider setup. The nav is overlayed on top of the slideshow and has rollover states.[URL]..

But I'm not sure how to overlay the nav controls on top of the content. Plus it wouldn't provide a decent image transition.It seems like this would be possible to recreate in a non-flash environment, I'm just not sure where to start.

I try to archieve a Tooltip-Design with an organic/liquid behaviour.In the end, it should look something like this:The behaviour should be, that when the mouse/cursor is moving, the Tooltips tail reshapes and followes the new coordinate while the body-part of the tooltip is following with an ease:As you can see in the motion-scibble I've already break down the Shape to its grounds Little Big Planet got a similar effect. Here your can see a part where they use a simple version of this Tail-Feature (which got only 3 Points and a Bezierlin I guess) and here you can see a Video where those Goodie-Bubbles came up and followed the character on a string. I love this Game for GUI-Events like this I guess the best technique would be to create a bitmap and then draw with the Flash-internal Drawing API Bezierlines and fill them. As simple as its to write this setence as hard I find it to realize this.

I've spend some hours playing with Bitmap-Examples and the BezierSegment-Function. I doint get very far. So I would like to know: Does anyone else done this befor? Maybe its not neccesarry to reinvent the wheel if someone else did something like this before and I can take a shortcut to find out how this is made. Speaking about the tail for example, it must have something to do with the fact, that each Point in the tail-part must be in a relative position to its neighbor-Point so they doint allign or even overlap and forming negative spaces like this:

I'm trying to move a series of dots (mc used as linkage: "Dot") within a frame to random targets, with the movement activated by onRollOver. This part I have working fine. The part I'm having difficulty with is getting the objects to have target coordinates to move randomly, except rounded to the nearest 12 pixels. Here's the relevant code:

It will then place a tile at a random position on the grid, but not in any grid cells that have already been covered by a tile. I'm currently working with the OLAPDataGrid component and got stuck at a relatively simple task: I want to style the last row of the grid differently from the rest, so my cell item renderer needs to know whether he's rendering the last row with content in the overall grid, including those rows currently not rendered because they are outside the visible grid space. AdvancedGridListData's rowIndex property only gets me the row index of the renderer relative to the range of visible grid rows, i.e. when I scroll down the grid, a data item with an index greater than 0 gets the rpw index = 0.

I've been practicing my actionscript a bit lately, i'm especially interested in motion and AI types of AS.I've covered and experimented with stuff like gravity, screenwrapping, bouncing, easing and springing which is all very cool but all these types of motion move in a straight line.What i want to do is learn to create actionscripted motion that moves mc's around randomly in a fluid, organic manner like a living creature rather than in straight lines.I know this probably involves using sin/cos functions and trig so i experimented a bit with this, i produced some stuff that is no longer straight lined but it moves rather jittery. (i think this kind of stuff is called brownian motion)

I place a group of movie clips with random types (different shapes on a square) in a grid formation The code for placing the movie clips is this (this is in two for loops):

this goes up a single column in the grid and should remove the tiles from the stage depending on each type and it does this (sort of) until it tries to remove more than one of the same type. So if it finds and removes an lShapes it doesn't error until it tries to remove another lShapes and then it gives this error in the output: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller. So I am assuming that this means it thinks all lShapes have been removed and thinks I'm trying to remove something that doesn't exist but there are other lShapes on the stage. I am at a loss as to what to do about this.

I really like the thumbnail gallery for its simplicity and beauty. But I would like to ad or vertical scroller (I'm unable to find it here too, maybe I'm blind, just I'm more at the end of my seeking options) or a make a grid thumbnails, that will show 2 columns of thumbs and 5 pictures in each columns, then under the 2 columns i would like to ad a sort of arrow or button that if my gallery have more then 10 pictures it will go on the next thumbnail list. I'm not looking for any extra fading effects or special movements. Just would love to have a single thumbnail grid on side, with option to have lists of thumbnails by 10 if there is more then 10 pictures or so.

I'm building a small editor that allows users to place electrical components onto a grid so that they can see how electricity works. I have built a grid using an array and for loops and attach movieclips dynamically to that grid. What I want the moviclips to do is to look in the four spaces either side of itself i.e. up, down,left and right.I have managed to pull the grid coordinates out of the grid which enables me to tell the clip which grid space to look at but have been unable to successfully get the code to work.Here is my code:

I want a movieclip consisting of a dynamic text box that, from the time it's loaded onto the stage, loads a randomly selected text string from an array, and continues to loop until the clip is removed from the stage. While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements.So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.
