ActionScript 2.0 :: Random Movement Within A Grid?

I'm trying to move a series of dots (mc used as linkage: "Dot") within a frame to random targets, with the movement activated by onRollOver. This part I have working fine. The part I'm having difficulty with is getting the objects to have target coordinates to move randomly, except rounded to the nearest 12 pixels. Here's the relevant code:

I am currently creating a game similar to cafe world, farmville etc (social game). Would like to know how could I make an object move in an isometric direction when my mouse move. For example, when I want to build a house, I click on the house build button, and when my mouse move, I want my house object (stored in the library) to be move together with my mouse in an isometric direction. To give you all a better impression of the solution i am looking for, click on this link for a sketch: [URL]. So I want something like only when my mouse move 20 units more than the original mouse position, then my house item should move to the next grid.

i having troublesome with the flash map.Actually i am doing the project which is multi-agent system (agents behave like human react in the map and have behavior just like human). i am one of the members of this project, i responsible for the mini map and i am using flash to do map. I am currently working on a very simple isometric3d game with a hero to move to mouse click position, using path-finding. I am trying to code everything myself step by step,as a beginner , i am well aware of asolib3d but I don't want to use it...I have read tutorials and few books I completely done with my isometric3d map. i create my path finding A-star class which is working perfectly with 2d grid tiles, but when i try to use it with isometric3d grid world it doesn't work properly.

my character movement is not correct. If hero position=0,0 and I click 0,10 on my iso grid instead of moving down he will move on the right side. If I am in the middle and I click on the left he will move right. and like few steps for where it supposes to stop... my pathfinding is ok in 2d but isometric the movement is weird...

I am working on my very first flash application and have found these forums very helpful so I have decided to post here since I'm stuck. I have taken the thumbnail gallery ikim posted on this thread and im trying to tweak it to my needs. When the thumbnails are loaded i would like to implement an onrelease function to tween the image to the middle of the screen, then slide to the right and increase the size. I have written the actionscript that will move the image. However, my problem is, i need to have the thumbnail slide from its original position to the middle of the screen. I thought i could do this by passing the parameters of _x, _y in the function and setting the motion accordingly. Being a newbie to AS, I am having trouble with getting ikim's gallery to accomodate this functionality. I tried using getproperty to get the _x, _y coordinates but this only returns the coordinates for the beginning position of the image and i need the ending position coordinates. I assumed I need to call getproperty at a later time, but I am not sure how to reference the thumbnails since it appears to me that they are being dynamically named and created the same.

When Flash is launched it selects a random box in the 30x30 grid and thendisplays the boxes there( alpha 0 to alpha 100) then the other 4 boxes above,bottom , left and to the right of it and then continue like this until this ends (whole grid displayed) wrote smth like that:

So I need to tile a number of images to simulate a wall full of framed pictures. The images will be sized randomly onLoad and need to be spaced evenly. Here's is the effect I'm wanting to achieve:
how to pull this off? They'll load one at a time and probably starting in the center of the stage a building outward.

need to fill a grid with tiles that will be of different sizes,but all multiples of the stage size - something like this:I want to randomize number of tiles placed into the grid without having any tile overlap. It will then place a tile at a random position on the grid, but not in any grid cells that have already been covered by a tile. And...also I want the grid/tiles to be dynamic enough to scale if the stage is resized.

I have mde a grid that loads great but I want to add a little flavor by having two events occur:I want the grid boxes (all duplicates of an mc named "sq") to rotate either 90, 180, 270 or 360 degrees. The thing is I have written a script to make them rotate 90 degrees with each new duplicate but I realized that doesn't look as good as what I'm going for. That code is here:

i've applied the following script to a movieclip to change its 'y' coordinate randomly at run time and it works fine but i'm also trying to control the maximum 'top' and maximum bottom 'y' movement for which the value should be: top = 40 and bottom = 400. so it only displays randomly between 40 to 400 'y' coordinate. could you tell me how can i implement this in the following script?

I've done the fading grid tutorial at: [URL], but I was wondering if someone knew how to make the grid fade in diagonally from the left or right top corners (or bottom corners too) like this site [URL]. I also have another question with the fading grid, does anyone know how to make the grid fade in from random spots on the movie clip instead of the left to right, up to down, etc. way?? I'd really like to see that effect happen, if possible.

I've been trying to simply get random movement on a MC on my stage.
Most of the tutorials I come across deliver jittery motion, not smooth eased motion.
Also, I'm trying this script found here: [URL]
The random motion looks great! .... but I can't stop the MC from moving to the top left of my stage. The script isn't setup to restrict the motion within a given area on the stage. I tried modifying it, got nowhere!

I wanted to built an enemy that is able to move on stage randomly in xposition and perhaps able to detect my character within the detectable zone and chase after me.. but currently I just wanted to make the enemy move randomly in x-position for starter.
It is my first time making and enemy with AI, but I'm just wasn't sure where to begin, I have used a fairy easy script to animated the movieclip in the beginning but got stucks whenever it reaches 960 or below 0 of the stage

I have an IK chain of 3 dots. I would like to put random movement on one of the dots 'pt1' so that is randomly bounces around my screen while the other 2 dots follow - something like a snake. However when I put this code on 'pt1' which is a movie clip by the way it simply will not work.

I'm trying to achieve random motion of my movie clips limited from stage left to stage right. I've read the following tutorials:

both are helpful. However, I don't want mouse position to affect anything (as it does in the 'continuous movement' tutorial). The 'random motion' code is pretty close...if I just knew what part of the code to modify to limit motion from left to right.

i want to make a movement. An object has to come from behind an object and go back again.The interval between each time the object appears has to be random.i was trting to maken something with the setTimer() function, and a random. The random gives a var.This var i would use as time for the object appears in combination with the setTimer().i can't come up with a decent code that would work.Where do i need to define the start vars, adn where do i define the random script.

If you look at this site and enter site. You will see 2 litle things moving on you screen.I need somthing like this aswell only then for like 50 bugs. I found lots of ways to make this with rondom movement scripts but i also need it to turn. So when its going to the bottom its pointing to the bottom and when its going up its turns pointing up.

I can get it to sort of move when a mouse is clicked with this code

I have the following clipEvent on a movieclip called square:

And the following framecode in the same keyframe as square:
_root.square.xpos = Math.round(Math.random()*550);
Now I want to use this information in a function so I can control more than just one clip.
