May 13, 2009I tried adding a invis button on the banner ( by the way the banner is moving) but for some reason it wont let me add Action script to it to link to a url

Mar 5, 2010I'm trying to think of the best way to add event listeners(mouse events) to an invisible object which is quite large. A straight forward way I can think of is probably setting the object's alphy property to 0. However since that object is very large, it will probably have a huge impact in performance. Setting invisible to flash however, will stop it listening to events.
e.g. I have a massive area 4000x4000, but I only want the 2000x2000 area to listen to events.
Other methods I can think of is to have the smaller area in the layer below the big area, covering it from view, though I'm not sure if the lower layer can pick up events? another way is maybe just have the big area listen to events, but in the handler I'll write some code to check if its within the boundary of the smaller area.
Adding Hyperlink To Flash Banner For Website?
May 27, 2009I have made a Flash banner for my website using CS3 but I wanted to add a hyperlink to it so that when someone clicks on my banner it will bring them to a different page on my site, kinda like the way ad banners work on most websites on the net. I have the official Adobe CS3 Flash manual as well as another one on Flash CS3 just as thick but I can't seem to find anything in either that explains how I can do this.

Jan 5, 2011I have created a basic animation in Flash CS5 and I need to add a clickable URL link to it. I've tried a few tutorials that looked promising, but none of them solved my problem. I've tried a number of things including converting parts or all of the images to simple buttons or movies and linking them that way as well as typing in code for ActionScript 2 and 3, none of which were successful. The animation plays correctly when viewed in my browser, but when I click on it, the link does not work. I would prefer that the entire banner be clickable to take viewers to the linked website rather than using hyperlinked text. Also, when I open the Code Snippets window, it is empty, no matter what image or frame I've selected. Do I need to import code snippets from somewhere or am I simply going about things the wrong way?

Jan 11, 2009I working on a flashbanner. It is a dynamic textfield called "regnr" where the user is supposed to add a registration number (of their car) before clicking the send button. This code is on the button:

It works when the domain is hardcoded but doesn't work when I am using the clickTag. Is it possible to add variables like this to a clickTag? How could this be done to actually work?

Oct 12, 2008I am a Flash novice who has worked through a couple of the standard introductory books on Flash in Actionscript 3 and some of the online tutorials. However I cannot work out how to do the following: A button A (I know how to design buttons including invisible ones) is on the stage. A user clicks on this button which then causes a text to appear at another location of the stage. This text includes an invisible button B. The text tells the user to click on it with the result that the text, including the invisible button B, disappears but if the user reclicks button A then the text with button B should appear again.

Unfortunately, it appears each time the file loops it calls another iteration of the xml file -- so if a user opens our homepage and walks away the xml file could be called 100s of times. My question is, can we set up the actionscript so the xml file is called just once?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding URL Links To A Horizontal Scrolling Image Banner?
Jul 2, 2010I want to incorporate a scrolling image banner into my website, and found a great tutorial on youtube which works well.I can't post a link unfortunately.It is a pretty basic image scroller that has a series of images scrolling across the screen in an infinite loop. Direction is controlled by mouse position (extreme left or right), and it will stop when the mouse is positioned over an image in the center area.Here's the code:

After trying to figure this out through forums such as this for days, it seems that my answer is to use XML (which I do not know, and which I think would require completely starting over).Is there any way to do this in AS3?
Again, I'm a novice user, but understand the basic animation tools of flash to feel comfortable using it as the platform to make this work. I'd like to be able to switch out images/links as necessary, and feel good about my ability to use flash to do that.
Actionscript 2.0 :: Click A Button Under An Invisible Button?
Jul 29, 2009I am making a video player based on the Video Basics tutorials Lee put up a while back.
I am working on a custom controlBar with autohide. Basically, when i mouse over the video area I want them to pop up, and when I mouse out of the video area I want them to disappear. I have setup the controlBar movieclip itself with "show" and "hide" frame labels. Each one plays a fade in/out sequence a few frames long, no big deal. That is the easy part and works fine.
In order to detect the onRollOver and onRollOut events for the video area I made an invisible button on top of it called "butt". It works fine too.

Invisible button layer above controlBar layer: When i roll onto the video area the controlBar pops up, but I cannot access the buttons on it (play, rewind, etc) because they are now underneath the invisible button that monitors the rollOver and rollOut of the video area, which apparently wont let anything under it be clicked. How can I gain access to these buttons?
Controlbar layer above Invisible Button layer: When I roll onto the video area the controlBar pops up fine, but once I mouse over the control bar flash thinks I am leaving the bounds of the invisible button and tries to hide the controlBar right away, which causes me to "re-enter" the invisible button, so it just bounces back and forth between showing and hiding the controls.
How can I monitor the video area and still have access to the buttons on the controlBar once it pops up?

After I upload the files, I can see the hand icon when I mouse over them, but when I click on that spot nothing happens. I have two text links on the same page that do work. One is an email link and the other is a url link. I have check the button names to my code and they do match.

I have tried changing the alpha to 0, but it's not letting me change that, except in the edit button mode which changes it for the entire duration and not just through frame 43.

Oct 31, 2008I've built an image scroller but I'd like to make the 'next' and 'previous' buttons invisible at the first and last frames frames respectively. The code I'm using for the scroll is below. I think the code I'm after should be something like this:

Im trying to do something similar and it gets to the second layer but then doesnt want to load the third inv-mc. Like loading an external swf to a container mc then in that same mc have another external load and then another.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Added An Invisible Button To First 315 Frames
Mar 21, 2012Everything was working perfect until I added an invisible button to the first 315 frames and added the Link_1 clickTag code. We use an ad server so I have to use the clickTag code that they provided for each external link. I am not sure why it worked just fine before I added in the invisible button and now it does not. I am wondering if the Fire Animation movie (see AS3 down below) is somehow comflicting with the button being overtop of it?I used the Debugger and it says:[Code]....
