ive got most of my playlist set. it consists of dynamic text boxes which read id3 songNames. ive got the playlist items to be inactive when the corresponding song is playing, but i'd also like the text color to change (which isn't responding).on the stage, the playlist items are built like this: dynamic text box songTitle, inside movie clip song#btn, inside movie clip playlistMC. The text below in bold is whats not responding. and for some reason when i change song6btn to song1btn, the text color does change for song1 when song6 is playing.[code]

When I set style color, it changes both the text color for the selected item/component label and the text in the dropdown menu.

I would really like the label to be white and the text to be black.

I have used states in my application.The thing is I have made the first item in my list to be selected. so I gave like this,
if(itemIndex == 0)
this.currentState="selected";
this works fine.The problem is when other item is selected the first item does not change its state,it remains in the selected state until its clicked.My code looks like this,

I have made my own video player with some help from the gotoandlearn tutorials. I now want to be able to quickly switch between different videos without using the list component, just a button on the stage. I have it half working, the new video loads and plays but the old video freezes and stays on top. How do I stop this from happening.The video Player code

If I have several items that move across the screen but the user can click any of them at any time, how do I record the current position of any of the items item in order to use that data to change the position of the item after the user clicks?
This is what I am doing: I have 11 images that slide accross the screen. The user can click any of them at any time. When he clicks one I am scaling the image so it looks like it is comming forward (z axis) and then the rest of the images are scaled down so it looks like they are going back on z axis. So what I am trying to do is get the current position of the image when the user clicks the image so that I can use that to correctly estimate the scaling and moving of the image to make it look like it scales from the center and not from the top left corner. So if have a variable that gets the current position of the image being clicked I'm thinking I can change its position using something like: x = currentposition + -45;

I have a few movie clips that change color when they are rolled over and rolled out of which is great and works correctly but now I have add glows to those buttons to serve as borders or a stroke and when you roll over the buttons the color and the filter color changes.

What I am trying to do is to have the button color change to a different color when it is on the page. The color only changes when I roll over it or hit it. Once I am on the page it changes back to the color it is on the up state.

I've attached a source file below, I'm kinda stuck. Basically, its an FLA that has a variable that changes (smscounter) based on whatever number is read in from an XML file (on my server). There is a big movieclip called "rewinder" on frame 1 of the main stage. There are left and right buttons that navigate between frames within that movieclip "rewinder". What I'm trying to do in theory is:
if(frame != 2) {button_right.visibility = true};
if(frame == 2 && smscounter > 5) {button_right.visibility = true};
if(frame == 2 && smscounter < 5) {button_right.visibility = false}
I've been told that won't work simply because once a variable (visibility) is set, it's not going to just continually check it, so I have to dispatch an event? I've tried 3-4 tutorials and I can't get any to work. Now a few things: I would LOVE to avoid anything super complicated. All I need is on frame 2 for the button to not be there IF smscounter is below 5. Other tutorials required another class and document class, but I couldn't get them working The buttons are currently outside the rewinder movieclip. I put them inside and on each frame, but then I couldn't get them to react to a rollover. The code is about as optimized as if a first grader wrote it, mainly because I'm a designer and I've been having help along the whole way with this.[URL]..
