View 2 RepliesIf i was loading external content, such as images or what not will the array load the items twice for example:
load = array(){
load images( "local/folder/www.example.com/" );
items("car.jpeg","bike.jpeg","bike.jpeg");
}
The above is in theory, if you notice twice i have the "bike.jpeg" image in the array; its key value would be either items[1] or items [2].
so with the above idea in mind would this bike image be loaded twice or just referenced in the array from the first initial load.
I have made a slider that I am having issues with. This slider is to control the timeline of a movie clip when dragged. My problem with this is that It seems to be duplicating the first frame. When I slide the slider to the right it will hit first tick and still display what is in frame 1 .. then on the next ticks it will continue with the rest of the timeline. how to prevent / over come my slider from doing this with the first frame?
View 7 RepliesI have a couple swfs that are loaded in using Loader, my first problem is I want to stop the timeline until another function when I want it to start. so In the complete function I have
var swfMC:MovieClip = e.target.content as MovieClip ;
swfMC.stop();
but the swf still runs through.Another problem I am having is whenever I add it to the stage it seems to make a duplicate of the swf, and when I remove this duplicate it remains til flash finally crashes. There isnt anything but simple tweens in my swf's (and added trace statements), so they shouldnt be held into memory. that and they shouldn't have been duplicated in the first place... right?
I have an AS2 .fla with all of my stage items on the timeline as opposed to inside a container swf. I must chose Center vertical and Horizontal options in the HTML alignment options when publishing in order for my movie to be perfectly centered in the middle of the browser. I would like to have a FULL Browser Background Image, however when I try using the following code, my background ("bg") does not fill the entire browser.
what I am doing wrong and if it is even possible to have a full browser background image while still using CENTER alignment in the HTML publish settings? I have tried the following code with and without the Stage align settings and with the xy coordinates centered-still no luck!

I have tried already with toggling visibility and 'gotoAndStop()' to make items appear over other items when the corresponding button is pressed, for example, when the user tries out different pants/shirts on their character.
I would like to use the selectionMode=multiple described in the Flex docs, but with a few modifications:
1) I would like the box that the user drags over the graph to remain there until the user drags a new one.
2) In the top right corner of the box I want to display the sum of the items selected by that box.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
im having some dificulties in the combobox of Flex 3, after defining the dataProvider and filling the combobox, how can i remove the items in the combobox later (without removing items in the dataprovider)? if i set the provider to "" or null, the items in the combobox are still there
View 1 Replieshow to get my CollectionEvent to work, and I seem to be able to see the problem, but I am not sure how to get it to work properly.
In my actionscript, it seems to only tell that event.items.length is 1, while I am calling my array collection from the HTTPService, and I have tested the length of my Array Collection, which seems to be accurate. What I tried to do is to use that number in the CollectionEvent function, but that does not work at all.

As the tittle suggests i have some trouble with Duplicating movieclips in a masklayer. The mask works but it wont duplicate. Also when i turn of the masklayer and use it as a normal layer the duplicate works perfectly. cant find any reason why it wont work.

Every time I remove the marker and put it back in view .. this script is called and is causing the action to duplicate itself over and over each time the marker is present. How can I do some sort of check to see if this is already added so that it wont duplicate ?
Here's the deal... I built a dynamic image gallery that runs hoizontally, and the idea is tu duplicate it and, when it reaches a certain point, use it's duplicate, so that there's the illussion of a "never ending" gallery.The problem is that, when duplicating the movieclip, it appears empty, even though I duplicate it after having loaded every picture.

In the onClipEvent (enterFrame) I have placed a setinterval command [code]Now this waits 8 seconds and then creates a massive amount of duplicated stars - more than I want. View 2 RepliesWhenever I make a code to duplicate anything in a reaction to an action, i get the problem of having my initial duplicated mc destroyed upon re-duplicating (you fire bullets and the one shot before the last always disappears and so).The thing is, if you take kirupa's "How to Fire"-tutorial, download the source and run it, the thing works like a charm. Even if i remove EVERYTHING from the code that even COULD, by the user's will, remove the duped mc, the initial problem remains. You can only fire one bullet at any given time, other(s) disappear.It's most propable that there's just something i've missed completely, and end up making myself looking like an ***, but still.For those who want a code, just take a look at the tutorial (the URL above). I�m tring this AS to duplicate a MC on the main movie. This AS is on a loaded SWF. It�s not working but can�t find the reason.

but in a more complex way. I have an existing 2d array that I want to copy to a new 2d array (but the NEW array can vary in size!).
For example, my current 2d array with the data:

And I want the new array to contain the same data as the old_array, yet if the new array is larger, it will put a zero instead of 'undefined'...like this:

I've developed a resource with drag and drop movieclips within a presentation.There are a huge number of drag and drop clips, so I've added a bit of swapDepth code so that the chosen movieclip is always in view. The problem now is that when I go to the next page (which contains a different drag and drop activity), a movieclip from the previous page is duplicated. Is there any solution to this? I've tried an onenterframe unload for the next page, but obviously this deletes the MC permanently making it fairly useless.

Im making somewhat of an online multiplayer game, it loops through an XML file full of character co-ords and names etc and creates movie clips and positions the characters on the screen accordingly.
The characters are pulled out from the library once, and then after that i want to access the movie clips within the characters.
for example, in the root timeline i have all the characters, inside the characters i have movie clips containing their clothing, names, etc, that i want to be able to edit.But im having troubles referencing the movie clips and doing this.
