I have a flash movie which loads an external swf file that I created using swift 3D. The whole process works fine on my hard drive but when I upload the files to the net the external file does not get loaded when I go to the website.

View 2 RepliesI am pretty new and I am trying to swap out swift files when the Buttons (Cabs & Sleeper) are selected but I cant figure out where to add the ".swf" file correctly, the current code I created is working but I am sure there is a better way to swap them, plus if I add more then 2 buttons the removechild will not work correctly (if a child by that name is not loaded) I think I have the right concept but I do not know how to make a variable that will swap the .swf rather than adding and removing the child.
View 3 RepliesI'm creating a movie with a swift flies quickly across screen, but in playback it always appears as if there are two or three swifts flying together almost on top of one another, a sort of stuttering effect in the playback. I've tried altering frame rate/frame number ratio; tried viewing the swf file in the external movie player, but nothing seems to improve it.
Is this lack of smoothness a basic problem in Flash with moving objects, or is it something to do with my Flash preferences, or even my computer settings? What are the standard ways to try and increase smoothness of playback in Flash?.
I know there is a new grounds link about setting your publishing settings to get animated gifs to work with flash. I am using CS4 and when I go to publish the gif works in the html document. But when I export to an animated gif it is still a still picture. I have also tried to export to a quicktime file and it's is a still picture there too and distorted. Should exporting to png or gif sequence work as well?

I added a link in the html page to an external JS file, when I move the JS function to the external JS file the website crushes.
I would prefer to have all my JS functions on an external file so I can use them in the future in other project and it also makes it easier for me to update the site.

Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? So far so good. I am certain it requires the Child to communicate with the parent somehow but I am at a loss. If I could get a bit of advice or a link to something deal with this, it would be a big help. I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

[FMX] I am having trouble loading an XML file on an external server into my flash movie when it is uploaded. The data loads in fine when the flash file is on my local computer with the xml file on a server. As soon as the flash file is uploaded the XML data will not load in.

I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.

I am trying to get a nav button in one movie (main_nav.swf) to target a my main movie (index.swf) and load a sub nav movie (metals_subnav_infinite.swf) into it. The sub nav movie will do a similar task - loading a portfolio swf into main movie (index.swf). I want to have an external swf that only contains library objects that are exported for Actionscript, and load these from the master .swf file dynamically during the master swf execution. In some of the external swf files, (using a FLVPlayback component) when you press a button on the main timeline to unload the current playing swf the audio/video continues to play after loading the new external swf file.So I believe that my approach is all wrong and I should be working to dynamically load the .mp3 and.flvs in the external swf ... my questiion is how to unload those assets when loading the new external swf

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

seems loader class can not access sub.swf's external class when sub is being loaded.

Lets say I have subgallery.swf file that loads jpeg images. And I have gallery.swf file that loads subgallery.swf.The jpeg images and both swf files are in the same folder.When I test gallery.swf it loads subgallery.swf but subgallery.swf doesn't load images. When testing subgallery.swf alone, it loads jpeg files.Is there any limitation or setting preventing external swfs loading other content?

I am working on controls for an external swf. The external swf loads an external sound file. The structure at the moment is extswf.swf contains mcSound which loads soundfile.mp3. extswf.swf automatically starts playing when invoked. movieController contains the icons for the play/pause buttons. This is assigned CntlClass. CntlClass loads extswf.swf and controls the play and pause buttons.
So far, the play and pause buttons stop and start and stop the movie but not the sound. I know I need to access the sound channel from the external swf and use the sound transform to change the volume. How to access that channel is unknown. The examples I find have imbedded sound files. Also, the examples seem to use the main class for the external swf. My external swf doesn't have a class file, so I have no idea what the main class would be.
In trying to activate the remainder of the pause button, I find that using MovieClip(loader.content).channel.position always returns 0. I've tried numerous other combinations to access the position of the sound for the play function to resume correctly. The visual part of extswf.swf stops and starts exactly as it should.

I've re done a couple of pages on my website and as a result of the new design have had to change some of the coding from being on the timeline to being in an external as document linked to my fla. This is significant only because I can link to external pdf.zips no problem on the timeline but I can't seem to translate the code to the external file. i have a main.swf and i load menu.swf into main

this works right on its own but when using addchild in main.swf the menu loads the button events work, even click but it will not load the associated file. If i place the menu code in the main.swf it loads all required files. QUESTION How do reference menu.swf when loaded as an external swf?
