Feb 18, 2009I hope this is the right place to ask my question. OK, I need a list of softwares that can play FLV on my computer, and I mean just play FLV in the software, not through web browser. For I have seen a lot of people asking this question on the Internet, I'm interested in it, too. I know Realplayer cannot play FLV, so please don't say Realplayer again, It's a stupid question, I know. I think you Flash gurus must know the answer.

Dec 15, 2010Okay so I need to make a basic activity (working Flash/as3) that simulates very basic weighing scales. All the objects that go on to the scales are the same weight.
If you imagine the classic weighing scales [URL]..we are dragging/dropping stuff on to the sides and animating accordingly.
I don't want anything fancy, just the maths required to affect the scales according to how many objects are on each side.
What I'm looking for is probably the angle of rotation of the horizontal arm. Any pointers?

Jun 17, 2011I'm working on a guitar tutorial website where users can select parts of a song, then write an explanation of how to do that guitar technique. The explanation will pop up, like a youtube style annotation whenever someone plays that song. It's like the youtube video annotations, except exclusive to guitar lessons:When someone plays a song, the annotations get displayed in real time.-There will be 3 sql databases: user information (ex. email, password, etc...), song meta information (ex. song name, length of song, etc...), annotation information and content (ex. annotation start and end time (to queue when the analysis/annotation should be displayed), etc...). The flash gui will interact with all databases.There's a lot of options out there (Adobe flash CS5, flex, flash builder), what are the differences between the three?

Nov 21, 2004i need to make a sort of template for a group of files. it must contain both text and images (sort of help files where there is text and explanatory figures). i have to make this template 100% dynamic, meaning that i don't know the amount of text or number of images or where those images will be within the text. my client should be able to add text and images without having to edit the swf.
i know how to make textfields and movieclips during runtime, and how to load dynamic text and images, but the main problem is that the client wants the images inbetween paragraphs - not in a seperate place. -how do i set breakpoints in a dynamically loaded text -how do i position the images? -how do i position the rest of the text?

Jul 26, 2010Quite new still to AS3 so if someone can help me out, or point in the right direction,Stage size is set to 750 wide x 440 high and my hi res image is 1500 wide x 880 high. image is called mcImage.The hi res image on the stage that is scaled down to 50% on both X and Y axes.I have a zoom in button, a zoom out button and a reset button. All do pretty much what their name suggests.When you zoom in, it adjusts the Z axes of mcImage to make the image appear larger on the stage. So far so good.I then get the new co-ordinates of X and Y by using the localToGlobal feature and record them in a variable, passing them to the mouse Handler for the dragging of the image.The issue is, whatever I try in startDrag(); does not limit the size of the dragable image, nothing happens, though I am expecting it to allow me to drag the image around within it's boundary!I am sure that the code can be tidied up, but I am still learning a lot about AS3 and trying my hardest.

Nov 11, 2010I have a movie that consists of one image that scrolls across the screen. It all works beautifully. Although it's one image (jpeg) that has been saved as a movie clip, the single image is actually made up of a number of logos. What I want to do is to make each of those logos a separate hyperlink that will link to different external URLs. As the logos scroll across the screen, you can pick any one that happens to be showing at the time (the actual movie clip is larger than the stage) and then go to the relevant site.
If I save the jpeg as a button, I can't then make it scroll across the screen in the same way and I don't want to break up the image into indivdual files, as it will then not scroll as a single unit with the Actionscript that I'm using.
Media Server :: Live Encoder Required For H.264?
Oct 4, 2011I have a web app that connects two computers and streams video to each other like a video conference. It currently works and also records the video in .f4v format. I am trying to figure out what I need to do to enable the client pc's to stream in H.264. Is it true that I have to use some type of encoder (like Live Encoder) to use H.264? If so, does Live Encoder have to be installed on the client computers? If that is true, is there a way to install the live encoder through our web app, configure it, and close it down when the conference is over, with no interaction from the client? Is there some type of plug-in that we could use that would eliminate the need for installing live encoder on the client computers?

Jan 5, 2011There is a known problem with swf's with nested mc's embedded in a director projector when used on a touchscreen (with dragmode enabled). Basically, the problem is that flash requires a mouseRollOver event to give the focus to the mc, before it registers an onPress. With a touchscreen, where the cursor is disabled, the first click and release on the swf (or nested mc's) reads as an onRollOver event, and the user must click again to register an onPress and onRelease. This leads to very confusing behaviours in my application where I have dots (embedded mc's) being created when an image is touched, then the dots can be clicked and dragged, or double tapped to be removed.
All works fine when the mouse and cursor is used, but I can't get it to work using a single tap on the touchscreen. In some cases I can get away with using onRollOver but when used with startDrag I can't think of a way of stopping the drag when the user lifts their finger. (which doesn't register as an event). What I need is an AS2 script that forces a click event (onPress) when the user taps the button once. Unfortunately I only know AS2 so can't use mouseEvents from AS3.

The reason being is that the way I've implemented this script is within a menu that only displays certain items pulled from an XML document (by using an if statement > if myrelateditemname = oneoftheotheritemnames then success - that kinda thing). The problem is, it still seems to be going by the total number of items in the XML document to display the menu, rather than the total number of items that achieved success in the if statement, therefore, when the menu displays, it is leaving gaps where the unsuccessful items would be displayed.
