JavaScript :: Integrating Adobe Flex Applications With HTML Pages
Feb 16, 2011
How can I get my Adobe Flex applications to seamlessly integrate with HTML pages? That is, I want Flex to: Not take up the entire page (make it any size page element I want). Talk back to the JavaScript on the page (further linking the Flash application with the HTML page).
Does anyone know if it's possible to integrate the ToushSmart's virtual keyboard with an Adobe AIR application? In most programs (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc), when a user touches a text field a little keyboard icon automatically pops up which, when pressed, will bring up the virtual keyboard. However, this doesn't happen when clicking on text input fields in Adobe AIR applications.
Has anyone had any experience working with AIR/Flash and touchscreens? Is there any API that can tell Windows (or the HP virtual keyboard specifically) that the user has clicked in a text field and that the virtual keyboard should be shown? The text fields are the standard kind (fl.controls.TextInput).
From what i have googled out so far, it seems that we will have to host the flash file(swf) in a website and load the html page in the application in a webview... Is'nt there any other way to do it ?? Is there any library or something to integrate them ? Flash lite ?
I cannot afford the Creative Suite or Flex Builder but I would like to develop a commercial Flex/ActionScript AIR application. Is this a viable goal and are there robust tools out there that don't cost a small fortune?
I have a requirement to print a bill from the AIR application.
Following are the constraints.
I need to print to a DotMatrix Printer. I have a complex layout with header, footer and a datagrid with data rolling out to more that one page. I need to have a template to which I will be passing my object. The suffice with the usage of Jasper reports, but I have no server side support.I tried the FlexReport, bentbit and other tools which is optimized for the DotMatrix printers.
Is there a alternative to get the above requirements done. Is there any alternative similar to that of jasper reports without going for a server.
It seems that AIR doesn't come packaged with the powerful FTS module for Sqlite (its a hot requested feature)
What are the some other alternatives I can use? I want to be able to do simple boolean and phrase queries. Support for stemming would be great but not required. I am targeting the mobile platforms.
So far I've thought of three options:
Write a simple inverted index and a scorer Do search on server side (last resort b/c it messes up offline capability) Somehow install FTS module with AIR. First indication from googling is that its not feasible (looks like loading of modules is disabled in air)
I'm going to write an application with the Air/Flex-Framework. I'm looking for Best Practise and general Design Patterns for designing software especially in Air/Flex. I have experience with this framework but never had the pleasure to write a piece of software from scratch.
For instance: I stumbled across lots of software written in Air/Flex with nearly infinity global vars Most of the software I saw was not object-oriented How can I pack the asynchronous method calls nicely?
I'm familiar with general design patterns by gamma. I'm looking more for advise in designing good quality software with Adobe Air/Flex.
Most of the desktop application development I do is in Swing, and I'm curious to hear people's thoughts on using JavaFX and/or Adobe Flex for building desktop applications. Have you had success building desktop apps with these? Or would you stick with Swing for now and use tools to help make Swing development more productive?
I realize this is probably a simple question but my google-fu is failing me. I would like to get a windows explorer like file browser to popup when I click a button to select images to upload to my AIR application. However I cannot find a component that handles File exploring. Does anyone know what to use?
I have created a website with one flash animation banner. The banner .swf has 5 menus. Each menu goes to different movieclips inside the .swf file. and at the same time i want to load the corresponding html file when i click the menu button and place the html content into the bottom area of the main html page without refreshing the html page.
I am looking for utility/helper classes for Adobe AIR/actionscript 3.0 file system and native process utilization. Could someone point me to opensource library projects specific to Adobe AIR..
Is it any way to prevent user to go to specific web-pages using Adobe AIR framework.I want this software to run at startup and not allowing user to surf some web parts.I want to use Adobe AIR beacause of its crossplatform capabilities.
I'm writing an Adobe AIR app using plain HTML which needs to upload photos to Facebook. I don't think Facebook's JavaScript/Connect library includes photo uploading functionality, but their ActionScript library does. However, I'm having trouble loading the ActionScript library into the HTML page.
Adobe's documentation describes the process of loading ActionScript libraries into HTML AIR apps, which I tried using the compiled Flash library available here (specifically, Facebook_library_with_AIRConnect_v3.4_flash.swc). So my page looks something like:
<html> <head> <title>Hello World</title>
[code]....
Is the compiled library file I used the wrong one (do I need a .swf instead of a .swc)? If so, do I need to create my own compiled library somehow from the ActionScript source? Is the namespace I'm using incorrect? (in addition to com.facebook.Facebook() I tried .Facebook(), .fb.Facebook(), .facebook.Facebook(), etc)Should I just give up and try to learn Flex instead?
I have a task to built a simple Digital signage system which will display different kind of information on LCD panels. I am not sure if Adobe AIR with HTML / Javascript would be a good choice for the desktop part of this application, which will be responsible for displaying the content. The logics could be easily solved and coded in Javascript and the app should run for a long time.
I have a html page with 4 iframes out of these 4 one is a static html page and other 3 are html generated by flex. I have a button and list in one of the flex applications and the list will be populated on click of the button. Now what I want is to have a custom busy cursor to appear on the top of the whole html page until the list gets populated.
I am developing an Adobe AIR application which uses both native windows and floating panels. Is is possible to enable the creation of a floating window instead of a native window when a JavaScript window.open() function is called?
It is required that all of the floating windows are contained within one native window, therefore the creation of more native windows is not suitable.
I have used a Custom HTMLHost class in order to enable the creation of a native window but I can't work out a way of creating a MDI window instead. I am using the flexMDI framework for my floating panel interface.
We're currently building a Flex application using the PureMVC framework with a shell.swf which loads/unloads modules dynamically. We're experiencing issues with memory and we're looking to replace the shell.swf with a JavaScript-based loader. Two questions:What would be a good framework to dynamically load the Flex components and allow the modules to communicate between each other?Would dynamically loading/unloading the modules via JavaScript take care of the typical memory problems associated with Flex/Flash applications?
how to put AdMob ads / any-other-ad into Android applications developed in Flash for Adobe AIR ? I repeat , ads into Adobe AIR apps , not java! Or any other way to monetize the app?
I want to add scripting functionality to my Adobe Flex application. I know it's possible to use the Browser control, and add the script packaged as a HTML file to the Browser control, and expose Flex objects. However I'd like to if it is possible to execute JavaScript without using the Browser control.UPDATE: I guess my question hasn't been clear enough. I'll explain what I'm trying to do.I want to make my application customizable using JavaScript ie., add scripting/plugins to my application dynamically.I realize that it's possible to dynamically execute Javascript by inserting the JS code into the HTMLLoader control. I would like to know there is a direct way to execute JavaScript without inserting it into the HTMLLoader control.
What is the best way to convert a tlf markup to HTML? I want only standar HTML without the old font tag. I think I saw a utility created by someone for this, but I can remember where it is.
Is there a solution to have the background audio/music play across multiple page on a website, WITHOUT restarting on every page load. The website currently uses a frameset, but I'm looking for an alternative.
How to get HTML text from inputed and edited text into Adobe Flex Builder RichTextEditor control? I mean with valid HTML coming from the Flex RichTextEditor component Not Badly formated HTML, with no spaces, with tags not closed! So we have some text edited with RTE a-la
