I have a FMS 3.5 installed on windows 2003 server, with a NFS file system.Both the application directory and the data directory is on the network file system.Every two weeks the system became unstable because the Free system PTEs go under 2000.The only strange thing i've noticed is that the Virtual size of the FMScore grows to about 1.300.000K after few hours from the reboot of the machine and stay to this value indipendently from the load of the server, In another FMS installed on a machine without the network file system this value is 16.800 K.
For a number of reasons (which I wont bore you with) we may have to interface our FMS servers over an NFS mesh to share disks. For example we have 6 core sites around the world and we want all core sites to see each others primary content store. Whilst we sort out the commercials for Aspera or similar to handle file replication properly, I had the idea to use <streams> to remotely mount each others disks (The disk systems here present themselves as NAS via NFS)So before you say No, don't do it im not sure I have a lot of choice at present.Its a large global core/edge deployment and the edges are implicitly configured to their origin.If i DID want to do it how many <streams> can I define before the server ignores them?

I have a REGISTERED Flash media server version with update 1 and when i try to start it I have this error in the evnet log : "FMS has detected system time is going backwards;shutting down server" i try to reinstall it, the system clock is ok
Flash Interactive Media Server seems to be an amazing product, but is it all just hype?I see plenty of tutorials and scenarios on how to grab the video from a flash player and stream it.But would I would like to see are content management systems that tie into fms.
I'm attempting to install and run FMS on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux system. At one point, it did function properly, but now it will not stream video at all, and I keep getting a constant stream of errors. No changes were made to the FMS configuration to make it stop working. I want to write a code in Flash to detect whether user's microphone is connected to system or not. My application records from users microphone, now while recording is accidentally or intentionally user's microphone gets unplugged from system then I want to show a message to user. Is this possible to do in flash. I have tried many thing but didn't succeeded. Few thing what I tried are mic.getMicrophone method, this method only returns the sound card of the system, but didn't tell you anything about microphone is connected or not.
For the past while, my developer has been working with me on a small project to put together a live interactive whiteboard app, powered by Flash Media Interactive Server. Well, everything is finished & ready to go, but there seems to be a big problem:
The app was developed & tested on a windows machine, while my server and all my website files (to integrate with) is on a Linux system.
It's been a month since this problem arrose, and there had not been any further progress with this project for the time. My developer doesn't seem to know much about how the 'conversion process' works, if there is one.
Do you know if this is possible (to convert a windows-programmed app to work on a linux system)? If so, do you know roughly how it should be handled?
I'm running FMS 4.5 on a Linux system with 4GB of RAM.Whenever I do a live broadcast from the server, the audio does a very strange thing. It sounds, ever so slightly, like an old record player where someone is occasionally (4-5 times a minute) putting a small amount of pressure on the speed of the record player and altering the pitch of the music. All my buffer settings are the default settings. It happens whether I'm doing CD quality audio or dialup 11025 kbps audio. I'm using MP3 for an audio format.
Q1. I have 2 web servers, 1 FMS server, 1 File Server. Files when uploaded, will be stored in File Server. I need to play the file from client system, please let what configurations shall i make so that the request will be sent tot FMS from Client and From FMS to File Server and back to FMS and then to client as a stream. scenario: I want to play a video. What the directory location of the default webpage data when the Adobe Interactive FMS 4 video is installed at?When the page loads it has all of the Adobe products and featurs on the page, I just need to know the location so I can edit it.
I am trying to encode and stream live video. I have downloaded both the Flash Media Encoder and Flash Media Server. To complete the process of streaming video, it appears that I need to obtain a "flash media server URL address" which is called "RTMP" on the encoder page. Where can I find this? Is this something that can be downloaded, or do I have to purchase this from a partner like Level 3 communications, AT&T, etc.?
I used to use Mochi Leaderbords before starting coding Adobe Air games for iPhone and Android. As the Mochi API doesn't have mobile support I had to find something else and found Playtomic. Playtomic is great and easy to use, BUT it's constantly down My players are complaing on how often the highscore server is down. i am writing a program that need to load photoshowever, there is limitation in flex that users cannot load photos with pixel above 4069 x 4069 into a bitmapdata.how can i check photos pixel before running to error? since some pictures are big nowadays, i would llike to check the user`s system memory and free harddisk space. See if the computer have enough space to load the photos.
I installed FMS on an standalone Win 2003 server to act only as a service , now when I open the URL ( IP address actually ) of the server it show an introduction page of FMS with a video ( RTMP and HTTP streaming examples ) , so how can I change that , to open to custom page or redirect ... ect ?
Is it common to have issues when there are more than one Recording SWF on an html page?I have 4 SWFs on a page, each with the capability to record, They all use the same FMS application but record and playback different FLV files.Could there be an issue with the NC being shared and then causing grief?
I have supplied several progressive download flash videos to our web site programmer. Our web site is in PHP. All videos play well except for one thing: I would like them to start automatically. How do you change that? One the server, he added the Clear_Skin.swf, FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf and flvProgress.swf files. Are those the ones that control the autoplay action?
As I am getting more familiar with FMS and understanding it better with the help of the wonderful contributors here on this forum, I am now curious about players.Players such as Strobe and REOPS to be specific.Are players all SWFs that are embedded in a page? I have seen some players here on the Adobe website that are stand-alone smaller windows that appear over the page. How is this done?So Strobe and REOPS...are we talking SWF code that is editable? You can see I am quite new to this. I'm on a roll, however and wish to continue understanding and learning.
I have 3 seperate .swf on a single html page which are all communicating with FMS on separate connections. Do you think there will be any stability issues? or connection issues. All the .swf use the same main.asc. There are no apparant problems so far just need an expert opnion.....a side note is I've also noticed an error in the error logs that says its detected a backwards time stamp when recodring. Whats that all about? The application seems fine. Using FMS 3.0
My channel's offical page is http://live.samaa.tv we are running our channel live streaming over web from two years and we have alot of viewers but now a days some other web developers using our streaming webpage on there website using iframe thats why our lots of new viewers is divert to there website.Question is that, allowedHTMLdomains and allowedSWFdomains text files can controll the iframe autentaction if I set only my domain in these text file?If yes thats good for us but if not what is the solution for this situtation, i don't want to run my page or streaming on other wesite using iframe.

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors.Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point.The netConnection object in this case is null.Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server?This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.
