With AIR 2 allowing access to mic data, it's possible to save/process audio locally. Adobe provides a WAVWriter example but is there any API access to the Speex codec?
View 1 RepliesFrom what I have read, using Speek over Nellymoser is advantageous, but I can't figure out how to use it with a Flex 4 Microphone object. For instance, the last code line:

People have figured out how to use the Google Speech API (Speech-To-Text). I'm trying to get it working with Flash Speex codec, and I just can't figure it out. I've tried inserting frame size byte before each 160 bytes (as some sources say), but this doesn't work. So I post a challenge to somehow translate the flash speex bytes for Google Speech API to understand. Here is basic flex code:
[Code]....
Does the FMS 4 will convert the data from Speex to Nellymoser ?I am publishing the stream to FMS 4 with codec Speex from flash player 10. And trying to access the stream in flash player 9. I am not able to listen the stream.
View 1 RepliesI am using FMS 3.5 and Flash CS3 (though using action script 2 at the mo)What I have is a simple program that records a webcam and saves the result as an FLV. - Note, I am doing all this locally, NOT over the internet or a local server. FMS is on the same PC as the program.
1) The frames per second does not seem to be fixing to 25fps, but instead seems to be around 15fps depending upon which pc I use. I'm using: cam.setMode( 320, 240, 25 ); to set the size and frame rate in flash.
2) When I get the properties for the resulting flv, it says it is using h.263 codec. Is there a way to change the codec that is used (to say h.264)? Or is this dependent on the version of flash used? ie. would creating it in flash 9 using AS3 give a better quality result?
I learned from some previous post that the default encoding format used when you publish the camera from a Flash player is Soreson. I'm wondering whether it is possible to select to use other codec such as VP2 or H.264?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to publish video streaming over internet. I want to use the h264 codec in FMS for that. Is there any in built property or setting to use h264 or have to use library for that. And also want to know among VP6, sorenson and 264 which is better to use.
View 6 RepliesI want to play *.spx files which encoded by Speex on the Web.But I have no knowledge of Flash/Flex or any Flash Audio codec. After Google search for a whole day, I got some solutions, that is:
Do something wrapping Speex files with a FLV container because that the Speex is only playable as the audio codec in a FLV container.Now I can play a SPX-Audio-Only FLV file in Flex, I use netStream.play("audio-only-speex.flv"), But I donot know how to wrap a Spx file with FLV container using ActionScript.I have never heard FMS stuffs before, as well as I'm not sure whether my virtual host can support or not...Convert every Spx files to MP3.
I think the best solution is decoding Spx in AS3, Yes, I'd like to make a Spx Flash Player.So, I downloaded Speex Library from speex.org, installed Adobe Alchemy. After ./configure;make the libspeex, build libspeex/speex.c out a libspeex.swc via Alchemy. then, I donot know how to do next. How can I decode the speex audio with AS3? My libspeex.swc: [url].....
In addtion, should I rewrite the libspeex using Alchemy API before build the libspeex.swc? Although I am not professional in AS, but I have a strong ability to learn.
I'm implementing a very simple audio-only RTMP server.I have my client code like this:
// get the default mic
var mic:Microphone= Microphone.getMicrophone();
// best quality (picks up all sounds, no transmission interruptions)[code].....
Then on the server, I keep receiving audio packets with size of either 43 bytes or 11 bytes (no other sizes found yet).My questions are:
Why do I get size of either 43 bytes or 11 bytes (from SPEEX encoding?)?
Is the 43 bytes = 1 head byte + 42 data bytes?
What is the size of 11 bytes?
How should I process or convert the SPEEX to raw data, so that my server side app can use this audio data? My current implementation:
I pick up all 43-byte packets (drop all 11-byte packets);
Skip the first 1 byte;
Decode the left 42 bytes using Speex library.
How should I convert the raw data back to SPEEX audio data?
I use Red5 server 0.9.1 for live streaming from Adobe Flash player to my RTMP protocol transport.I test it with audio data captured from my microphone using flash application and for now transport recieves and recognizes audio packets. For further audio data listening I need to know what audio codec Flash player uses to send data to the Red5 server.Transport doesn't recieve any metadata packets with detailed information about media codec. All I know for now from "connect" message is that publishing side supports the set of audio and video codecs.
View 3 RepliesCan Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 run on AMD Athlon Dual Sock Quad Core?I just requested a Dell server to be added to our farm to run as a Media Server and to my surprise, while reading the requirements for FMS it states the following: 3.2GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 processor (dual Intel Xeon® or faster recommended)
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors.Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point.The netConnection object in this case is null.Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server?This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.
How can we automatically configure edge from the admin console of flash media interactive server?
View 1 RepliesI would like to know the number of connection allowed in the free developer ediiton of Flash Media Server.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
I have to a problem using the Flash Media Interactive Server Feature Explorer. I want use the sample: RecordStream. I can see the instance "RecordStream" in console FMS 3.5. and show me the video in app AIR, but does not save the .FLV in my server.

View 1 RepliesI have Flash Media Streaming Server 3.5 (not Interactive) running on RHEL5.5 x86_64 Linux.All is working well, however how do I prevent unauthorized access to connecting to the live stream and streaming content?How can I setup the server to require a user and password to stream live media to the server?I am new to this product and I have been reading some documentation but I have not found a clear cut answer on how to force a username and password to connect to the server to stream live content only.I am using the Adobe FMS Apache install, what files need changing?[code]I want to lock down a person from connecting to the server on the public internet and starting a live stream?Can this be done with a user name and password?

View 8 RepliesWe purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.
is it possible fast forward, rewind video in flash media server through flash action script ?

View 1 RepliesI'm building a video conferencing applicaition for a portal. But now when considering which version of flash media server to buy, I run into some problem. So can anyone helps me about comparing this two versions: Flash Media Streaming Server and Flash Media Interactive server, like if I use Flash Media Streaming Server, some function like NetStream.pause() may not work or something like that? I'm not sure if this is a foolish question but please let me know.
View 3 RepliesI'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.
I need to move recorded media files at my fms account to some other ftp account. How can i achieve this through server side scripting.
View 2 RepliesI am working on streaming programs through "Adobe flash Media Live encoder" in my website.The steps that i done for streaming is
* Installed Adobe flash media live encoder
* In the FMS URL entered as " rtmp://myserver ip/live "
* In stream given as "livestream"
* when i click connect the follwing error is displaying " Invalid primary FMSURL "
The website i am going to implement is [url]... which is done using PHP. Is there anything i have to do in coding to connect the media server.
when i try to live stream with FMS! I can stream video with Flash media live encoder to the server but when i create the player to recieve the livestream from server,i can not recieve the live stream,can anyone give me a step by step tutorial of how to do it?
View 1 RepliesI need urgently to build simple streaming live video web application.i need to create some live video streams from webcamin one computer through my server to webcam in another computer is Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server is able to do it or only Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server is able to do it?if Adobe Flash Media Streaming Server is able to deal with live video streams is there any major difference between them like for example is it possible to record live video streams in Media Streaming Server? The only clear difference between them is the price.I can afford baying the Media Streaming Server bat not the Media Interactive Server and i need to decide before i am turning to other very less quality java based solutions.
View 1 RepliesWe will only use the servers for Live streaming and VoDs, so far no plan for any complex applications to be deployed on the servers yet. As
far as I understand, the bottleneck of streaming servers are with network connection rather than CPU or resources (servers are only support up to 4GB of RAM anyway).
