Flash Player With Red5 Server Codec Type Detection
Nov 11, 2010
I use Red5 server 0.9.1 for live streaming from Adobe Flash player to my RTMP protocol transport.I test it with audio data captured from my microphone using flash application and for now transport recieves and recognizes audio packets. For further audio data listening I need to know what audio codec Flash player uses to send data to the Red5 server.Transport doesn't recieve any metadata packets with detailed information about media codec. All I know for now from "connect" message is that publishing side supports the set of audio and video codecs.
I had a question about RED5 & Adobe... Does anyone know if it is possible to broadcast multiple video chats using Adobe flash player from "RED5 flash server"?
I've just been asked to create a video player which automatically chooses the correct bitrate video to stream by detecting the bandwidth.I have no experience creating a video player so I'm looking for links/resources to do some research on the topic.Has anyone here created a video player in Flash? Would it be better to create in Flash or Flex?Once again, I have no prior knowledge in this type of creation and could use an experienced developer's opinion on what the first step is towards progress.
I have installed RED5 flash server and 12 hours after installing it, I still cannot serve a simple MP3 file. So far, If I have understood correctly, you need to create and compile a Java application to simply serve a file!?.... Which seems a little over-complicated to be honest. Never touched Java.I have used the oflademo however cannot change the directory.I basically need RED5 to serve MP3 files from a directory (which i will specify), I will be calling the files as normal in a JW player playlist.
I am recording video using Flash and Red5 server and am doing it well,But when Red5 server is installed in another machine am not able to access it from my machine through LAN.am using another machine IPAddress to connect. Example:"rtmp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/echo" When i access in my local machine using "rtmp://localhost/echo" it works fine.
Is it possible to capture/encode a video file on a slow machine, then upload it live to a Red5 or Adobe Streaming server, and have that server stream to file live to flash clients? If so, what protocol is used to stream the data from the encoding machine to the Red5 / Adobe server? I see a lot of things about RTMP, but am I correct that this protocol is used between Streaming Server and Flash client, but not from encoding machine to Streaming Server?
I've been thinking for a long time about working on a multiplayer game in Flash. I need updates frequently enough that ajax requests won't work so I need to use a socket server. The system will eventually have enough objects/players that I would consider it an MMO. I would like to set up a scalable system on Amazon's EC2. (Which probably effects my choice of server) This architecture would hopefully allow the game to grow without many changes over time. (Using a domain decomposition technique or something similar)
Heres my internal debate:Should I
a. Code my own socket server in C++ or Java?
b. Use the free and open source Red5 socket server for Flash?
or c. Pay the licensing fees and go for Electroserver?
I consider myself a decent developer, but am at an impasse as to what road to go down. I'm not sure if I, could develop/would need, the features of one of the prepackaged socket servers.
I'm also not sure if the prepackaged servers would work well in an Amazon EC2 environment and take full advantage of its features.
I'm trying to send a video stream to a Red5 server using Flex.
My Red5 setup seems to work for remote method invocations and shared objects, but I've yet to succeed in getting video working.
This is the AS3 code that connects to Red5:
# connect to RTMP server netConnection.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler); netConnection.connect("rtmp://localhost/context_name"); # omitted code for waiting for connection success, and setting up shared
[Code].....
As said, note that the Red5 setup works flawlessly for remote method invocations and shared objects, but not for video which is strange.
We have a Red5 Server that we use to host a video chat. We are looking for a way to overlay SWF files over the top of a live stream video. For example, we could overlay an SWF animation of snow falling in front of a live stream from a webcam.
I am using FMS 3.5 and Flash CS3 (though using action script 2 at the mo)What I have is a simple program that records a webcam and saves the result as an FLV. - Note, I am doing all this locally, NOT over the internet or a local server. FMS is on the same PC as the program.
1) The frames per second does not seem to be fixing to 25fps, but instead seems to be around 15fps depending upon which pc I use. I'm using: cam.setMode( 320, 240, 25 ); to set the size and frame rate in flash.
2) When I get the properties for the resulting flv, it says it is using h.263 codec. Is there a way to change the codec that is used (to say h.264)? Or is this dependent on the version of flash used? ie. would creating it in flash 9 using AS3 give a better quality result?
I learned from some previous post that the default encoding format used when you publish the camera from a Flash player is Soreson. I'm wondering whether it is possible to select to use other codec such as VP2 or H.264?
I'm trying to publish video streaming over internet. I want to use the h264 codec in FMS for that. Is there any in built property or setting to use h264 or have to use library for that. And also want to know among VP6, sorenson and 264 which is better to use.
I've created a website for a client and this is my first time. What I was wondering is how can I set up her website so that if someone views her page, but they don't have the latest flash player, then the website would prompt them to go and download it.
When a user does not have a flash player... and enters a flash website...is there a way flash can recognise this and with a click he/she can download the latest flash player from that site?
when we place flash files in our websites, it OFF-COURSE requires flash player on client machines, and prompts to install flash player..is there some php code using which i can check weather there is flash player on the client machine and if not then instead of placingembedding a flash file i place an images over there...cuz in my specific case flash is not that much important... it is just for cosmetics, an animation... which i can replace by a gif or a simple jpeg doesnot matter...
just wonderign whast's the preferred/easier method:1 add the player detection code into flash2 use html editor (like dreamweaver) to insert some javascript on the webpage
I'm looking into implementing the flash player detection kit onto our website. I found a good resource about this but had a question: [URL]. It looks like the flash player detection kit is focused on flash player 8. Are there any differences as to how to handle this situation for flash player 9 or 10, or will the kit work for all? Please note that I am not a flash developer, but am doing research to advise our IT folks as to how we should go about setting up proper flash detection on our site.
Some of my flash buttons do not work in FlashPlayer 10 but work in 10.1 So I wanted to alert a user to upgrade to the most current flash player 10.1 if he/she has 10 and visits my website. What is the best way to do it? My entire site is done in Flash and I am using AS3.
In answering a question on stack overflow, one person recommended using the following code to detect flash server-side, he pointed out that it does not work in safari: if (strstr($_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT'], 'application/x-shockwave-flash')){ $hasFlash = true;} Testing for Flash capability on the server-side. My question: why does it not work in safari, and how reliably does it work with other browsers?
is it possible if i have two versions of a flash file made, to have a redirect or detection that would choose the swf depending on what version of flash player the user has? so if they have flash five they get 5.swf and if they have flash 6 they get 6.swf
I want to make a screensaver that has a maze game on it, It will be controlled by using the arrow keys on the keyboard. The only problem I have is working out how to make the movie detect the walls and stop the square (what the player controls) going through them.
As stated in the title, I want to know how to determine if my server/host has native bandwidth detection. I have FMIS 3.5 installed on my Linux server. Is this a setting in FMIS or is this something I have to call my host to find out?
I'm looking for a flash script/library to capture video and audio from a webcam and then somehow get a saved flv to my encoding server. I'm not looking for something that will host the videos for me. I just need something simple to capture and then upload. I really want this to be open source and free.
I've done a fair amount of searching and it seems that most of what i can find is either a full blown service with hosting, or the red 5 suite. I've been trying for a day to get something going on with Red5, but honestly I haven't done any flash or java development in over 6 years and this seems way too complicated when all i really want is a flash object i can stick on a webpage.
I'm trying to make a simple video chat using Flex framework and red5 server. It's an application with 2 video displays. With connection to the server more or less figured out. However, I do not understand how to transfer user1 stream to user2. Here is functions i use to transfer webcam image to the server and to get the stream.
I have a swc plugin embedded in my product to stream live video to a group of recipients. The plugin uses the NetStream, NetGroup and NetConnection objects, the server I use to handle the RTMFP session is Influxis. One client creates a group as a publisher, and stream a live video. His Camera is enabled and I can see the video on the screen as well. The others connect to his group and play the video.Peer assisted Networking is enabled for both the publisher and the recipients. The plugin worked well in all 10.x versions (10.1/10.2/10.3)However, when upgrading to flash player 11.x, it stopped working.
-11.x to 11.x isn't working. -10.x with 11.x isn't working. -only 10.x to 10.x is working.
The server I use to handle the RTMFP protocol is Influxis.com I sent them the same question as well. The weirdest fact is that I'm using flash builder 4.6 with 4.6 sdk, which is aimed for flash player 11.1, and it is only working with 10.x flash players.
