Media Server :: FMS4 On Win2008r2 Can't Record Audio?
Jan 31, 2011I have problems recording audio using FMS4 on Windows 2008 R2.I have an old server, it's a Windows XP with FMS 3.0.2 that is working perfectly but now we're upgrading the server to Windows 2008 R2 with FMS4.I'm trying on my developpen enviroment with FMS4 Developper Version (Trial).Using the same program (AS3) to record audio that works on my old server.

Oct 24, 2007I'm trying to record audio from my microphone and save it out as an .FLV or .MP3 (or any other kind of audio format) file. I've gathered from my research that I need Flash Media Server which I do have access to but that's pretty much where the trail has stopped.I'm unable to find any concrete examples of doing this and would can point me in the right direction. I can use either AS2 or AS3 and this is agency work so I've got a pretty good set of tools at my disposal, just need to get somewhere with the research.

i checked and the connection to the server is fine.if i use live streaming, than it's fine (of course in this case i use the live application).It's maybe a file system related problem. I use windows 7, and given all permissions for all the users.. still dont working.
Media Server :: Fms 3.5.2 - Video / Audio Streaming Application - Audio Stops Or Lags Behind
Aug 25, 2009I ran a simple live video streaming application for the first time with actual users and ran into a couple of serious performance issues that had not turned up during testing. In this instance there was one video stream from a live web cam and used FMLE at 150 kbps using VP6 and MP3 @22k. There were 16 clients and everything worked pretty good for about 30 minutes. (although some clients said their audio and video were out of sync by up to 3 seconds)
Then individual clients would have either the video freeze or the video would continue and the audio would stop. These clints had to "disconnect" and then "connect" again to the application. This happened to all of the clients at one time or another for several minutes. I stopped and restarted the FMLE with progessively lower bandwidth settings down to 75 kbps but still clients were having the same issue.
I eventually stopped the FMLE and used the applications built in publisher at 45 kbps and that seemed to eliminate the freeze/dropping issue. But of course the video quality was very poor and some clients still reported that the audio was out of sync with the video. The server hosting the FMS application is a quad processor dell with lots of memory and network connectivity. The Flash Media Admin Console performance graph showed the total Bandwidth as 3 Mbps at maximum.

Jul 22, 2009I want to record a stream which is published with Flash Live Encoder to FMS 3.5, but split the recording in files with predefined length. For example if a stream 'webcam' is published I want to record it in chunks of 10 minutes: 'webcam1.flv', 'webcam2.flv' ... From what I can tell there's no facility to work with timers. The only solution I could think of was using stream.record() with a time limit parameter but that seems like a hack because it triggerstStream.Record.DiskQuotaExceeded on the stream when the recordin should stop and start recording another chunk. Has anyone done something similar?

Apr 11, 2012I develop failover fms application with server-side action script. But i have a problem that FMS can't continue to record stream with record mode "append".
Environment: FMS 4.5.1 r484 on CentOS 5.5/6.0
Goals:
I have 2 same data streams in failover application and republish primary to livepkgr application.
I have to store of last 10 hours intact recorded video (DVR).
Failover app logic:
1. I create NetConnection and NetStream to livepackager;
2. When primary stream is connected it attach the primary stream to livePackager NetStream
3. If primary stream is disconnected it reattach the backup stream to livePackager NetStream
Problem: I have testing environment. It stop primary stream every 5 min, and started primary stream 5 min after stopping.
It work's, fine, but after a few hours testing LIVEPACKAGER falls. It can't record a stream, NetStream.Record.Start -> NetStream.Record.NoAccess -> NetStream.Record.Stop
Search a solution: I try to relaunch recording process and have no success. try to shutdown/start livepackager, it's same, try to restart server, same no success.
I cant stream.clear() or record with mode "record" cause it clears my dvr cache, I cant clean stream directory in livepackager application.

Jul 22, 2010I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.

My solution is built using .NET.Most similar apps that I've seen use Flash on the client and presumably Flash Media Server on the server. We don't have the kind of budget for FMS. I'm looking for a free/open source solution.I've also looked a bit at Silverlight 4 since it supports recording WAV audio but I'm not clear on how to tackle the uploading and encoding to MP3 bit.Ultimately, I need to record audio from the microphone and then be able to store the file on the server as an MP3 file. Free (or at least cheap) is required.

As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?

Feb 3, 2010I'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.

Jun 17, 2010i have fms installed on a server, say server1. my flash files (swf) which allows user to record audio is on server 2. in the swf file, the connection is set as follows: nc.connect("rtmp://server1/test");
im able to view flash videos on server2 which streams from server1. however, i cannot upload any recording to the above directory. does the recording goes to the application or webroot folder? do i need to set any authentication to connect to server1(fms) from server2(swf)??
