Media Server :: Setup Multiple Videos Within A Single Swf Using RTMP/FMIS?
Oct 21, 2010
I have a case where I'm displaying 3 videos simultaneously using FMIS 3.5. When one is selected it will play the other two will switch and show a videoloop.
What is the proper way to accomlishing this. I actually have 6 videos (3 loops and 3 videos). Do I need a netconnection/netstream/video object for all of them or can they share something. What is the best practice?
can i use a single RTMP link included on FMLE with multiple servers, means, that RTMP link will do the redirection to the other RTMP links.with hight number of simultanous users, that feature will manage the use of servers
I'm setting up my fmis to deliver video through rtmp and http.I'm on a locked down network. What ports need to be open to allow people outside of the network to access the rtmp/http streams? I am correct to say only port 80 and 1935?
I am facing a strange issue with a pair of FMIS servers set up with Multipoint Publishing. Configuration is as follows: Encoder >>>> FMIS1 >>>> FMIS2
When freshly started, I am able to view live streams from both servers, however, periodically, FMIS2 unpublishes the streams as seen in the log below. When this happens lives streams are accessible from FMIS1 but not FMIS2. In order to resume live streams on FMIS2, FMIS1 must be restarted.

My swf is playing one video in using NetConnection, NetStream and Video object. If I want to stream one more video simultaneously in the same swf I have a few problems. It works when I create more NetConnection, NetStream and Video objects but is that necessary? The code rapidly becomes complex to handle.
Is there an easier way like perhaps share the NetConnection, or something (same FMS server)?
Question 2
The two videos on the stage are suppose to have different size, placement etc. Still the last one created inherit the properties of the first video display. It also starts playing for an annoying couple of seconds before the first one. How can I avoid that (inherit and delay)?
var ns1:NetStream; var ns2:NetStream; var nc1:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
I am not able to play video on mobile device which is .3gp container and H.263 / AMR_NB encoded. I just want to play my website videos in mobile device also just like[url]....I want to use RTMP and HTTP both. My requirement is as follows - Which codec and container will be best? Should I use FLV to play video on mobile device? RTSP required or can be use RTMP? Is NetStream and NetConnection methods different from Flash Player in Flash Lite Player? How to play 3gp video using RTMP stream ie.ns.play(mp4:mobilevideo.3gp¯, 0, -1, true) is it ok or any thing else required? For mobile browser and computer browser, can I use single player or I have to make different player for computer browser and mobile browser? It would be better if I can do it with single player for both mobile and computer browser. Sample code required for testing. If you can.I got below article in which they mention that we can play video 3gp container in mobile also.
I have some .mov files want to stream to Flash media server by ffmpeg. i have already tried to stream a single .mov by FFMPEG command in terminal and it works, the FMS can display the thing i streaming in live. Now i want to stream multiple files as one source, i tried to use above command one by one, but it seems Flash media server stop the streaming when file1 is finished, then start the stream with file2.It makes the stream player stopped when file1 is finish, and i have to refresh the web page in order to continue on file2.i am calling the FFMPEG command by a C program in linux, i wonder is there any method that i can prevent the FMS stopped when i switch the file source in FFMPEG? or is that possible to let FFMPEG constantly deliver the stream by multiple files source without stopped when a file finish
I need to build a website which shows multiple instruments in a band, being played in sync. Each camera/video block is a different instrument, and played together, they constitute an entire band. I have been searching high and low for ways to do this, and it definitely appears that HTML5 is out. It looks like standard FLV progressive download is out, too, because it's impossible to get 4-8 videos to sync perfectly.
I see on the FMS page that it has some abilities in synching. How would one (conceptually) go about making a webpage where say 4-8 videos begin to buffer, then when ready, play in sync? And they would also need to, when the location is changed, all sync to that location and rebuffer.
The objective is so that the user can mute/solo each video's audio, to remove an instrument(s) from the "mix" at any time.An alternative way of doing this, I think, would be to just put the 4-8 videos together in video editing, and encode this into one video, but have each video's audio track be a separate audio channel. If FMS can do multichannel audio on one video, this might work, if it could mix them in/out individually, as the user requires.
Is it possible to allocate multiple media locations to a single VOD application? I'm about to exceed the 2TB volume limitation of my SAN, yet the quantity of content that needs to be available for a given clients FMS application exceeds that.
If I'm streaming live video and chatting in an FMS app, should each component have its own instance of NetConnection or should they share one? Was thinking perhaps the quality of the live video stream would be hurt in a sharing situation but am not sure the architecture works like that.
From a development standpoint, I'd like to make one NetConnection instance in my main application file and connect with it. Then, when successfully connected, I'd like to pass that connection into any custom components that need it.
I have 3 seperate .swf on a single html page which are all communicating with FMS on separate connections. Do you think there will be any stability issues? or connection issues. All the .swf use the same main.asc. There are no apparant problems so far just need an expert opnion.....a side note is I've also noticed an error in the error logs that says its detected a backwards time stamp when recodring. Whats that all about? The application seems fine. Using FMS 3.0
I have started the vhost setup. I have cpanel on the server and I added the domain and it resolves to the hosting account just fine pull up www.domain.com and goes to server.
I added the www.domain.com vhost. I pointed the application dir to /home/domain/public_html/applications/
I copied live over to applications dir. I setup user and pass for the virtual host login.
I'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
I need to merge multiple live audio streams into a single stream so that i can pass this stream as input to VOIP through a softphone. For this i tried the following approach:Created a new stream (str1) on FMS onAppStart and recorded the live streams (sent throgh microphone) in that new stream.
Below is the code : application.onAppStart = function() {
I am using Flash Media server 4.5 and i read the tutorial if i want to stream the live feed, i may need to use the media live encoder. but what i found in media encoder is i have to manually setup everything and it only support camera devices. But in my case i have multiple video files keep received from another program and place it on file system (server),my goal is use the Flash Media server to perform a live boardcasting with these video file one by one. That means when client watching a live streaming, they will not notice the server is playing mov1, then mov2, then mov3, then mov4... and so on.
You can imagine i am trying to boardcast a live footage say for 60sec, but the video file will not recorded entirely after 60sec, instead for every 10sec i will save a new video file, so that when client watching the live by HLS [URL]when the time reach to 10sec, a mov1 video file available and FMS should boardcast this video on live123.when the time reach to 20sec, a mov2 video file available and FMS should Immediately follow the mov1 boardcast on live123.and so on...Also can FMS dynamically create a new streaming session (invoke by code), so that when client A uploading some video files to the server, the FMS open a new streaming session only stream cilent A video files?the configuration to boardcasting like screen size, bit rate, etc should be pre-defined on the server. I have upgraded from FMS2 > Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5 I added both the seriel number for FMS3 and FMS2 during the installation process. When I logged onto the admin panel there was no licence listed, and a link saying "to upgrade to unlimited connections now, click here".
So, I checked the fms.ini and no seriel was there. I put the seriel number in and restarted the server through the FMSadmin tool. Still, no licence file was showing. I then added the licence file via the admin panel and got a dialogue saying "Seriel Key "blah" Sent To The Server for approval". The seriel key now appears with a valid status of false. And no further progress after that. The documentation states that when you add the seriel key in this manner it should recognise it immediately.
Can anyone suggest what I might have done wrong? I have trebble checked the seriel number, and copied and pasted it to make sure it is exactly right.
As stated in the title, I want to know how to determine if my server/host has native bandwidth detection. I have FMIS 3.5 installed on my Linux server. Is this a setting in FMIS or is this something I have to call my host to find out?
I recently upgraded from FMS 2 - FMIS 3.5.Over our internal network videos stream like a dream! However, accessing them from outside our own network means that they take about 20 seconds to load, or sometimes just get a message saying the server isn't found. This wasn't a problem with the FMS2 and there have been no changes to firewall settings or anything like that since the old server was up and running without problems.I have the new server set to use exaclty the same ports, but wonder if there are some other settings which could be causing this?Networking isn't really my area of expertise, and I have no idea where to start looking to improve things.
Some users are unable to access any of our video content, getting a Server Not Found error. We have our FMS configured to use ports 1935, 433, 80. Our firewall is allowing RTMP traffic to each of these ports. Is there something more I can do from my end to make sure users can access our FMS?
I'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.
I have a silly question, how do you verify if your install of FMIS needs updating or security patches?I currently have FMIS ver 3.5.3 r824a.How the heck do you even verify if Adobe has a higher version? FMIS page just says FMIS 3.5
Sheesh, can Adobe make anything straight-forward?IT dept where I work says one of their security scans implied - that the FMIS install on one of our servers needs updates, what updates, who knows...
We had FMS2 installed before and the paths to all our videos are like rtmp://ServerName/sites/.... (the default path on FMS2) Now we upgrade to FMS4 and we would like to keep these paths the same because we have many HTMLs that reference these videos. However, the default path on FMS4 is rtmp://ServerName/vod/... Is there a way to change "vod" to "sites"?
I tried to change VOD_COMMON_DIR in fms.ini from /install_dir/webroot/vod to /install_dir/webroot/sites, and also changed the document root in httpd.conf, but rtmp://ServerName/sites/ is still not working.
Were in the process of upgrading the FMS server licence to a FMIS licence. My question is that when we upgrade will we lose any of the functionality of FMS3.0 that is not present in FMIS. The FMS is currently used for direct streaming.
I've recently installed and set up a FMIS 3.5 setup and my web developer wants to have php on the server to create some dynamic content. Trouble is, I can not for the life of me get PHP to work on the server. Is there some special instructions that need to be followed with this special version of Apache that comes installed? Or is there any special reason I should use this version? If it won't hurt anything, I'm more than happy to just uninstall it and install my own Apache package, but I also don't want to limit or cause any problems in the future by doing so.
I`m using FMIS 3.5.2 (windows xp) and was trying to make this example working URL...When my flash media live encoder connects to 'livestreams/ localnews' publishing point i got in logs:CSAAACPI is connectedSending error message: Method not found (releaseStream).Sending error message: Method not found (FCPublish).localnews is publishing into application livestreams/_definst_Republishing the stream into "livestreams/anotherinstance"Stream Status: NetStream.Publish.StartThe stream is now publishing. When i`m trying to connect to the "livestreams/localnews" with flash media player i can see the stream from my webcam but when i`m trying to connect to republished stream 'livestreams/anotherinstance' i got nothing.Player says "loading..." and shows nothing.
I am developing a virtual classroom application for education purpose.I have developed following features in my application :
1 - Instructor audio and video for all students
2 - Shared whiteboard
3 - Animations using SWF controlled by instructor
4 - Chat functionality (Shared Variables Used)
I have to decide between Flash Media Server and Flash Media Interactive server and price difference between the two is huge.Considering the features indicated above I would like to know the server edition I should go ahead with.
I was wondering if any one could clarify something with IP multicast. From what I understand to get IP multicast to work the server needs to publish to the router box. So how can this be achieved if the FMS server is not in the same network as the router box? Would it require a second FMS server to be placed in the same network as the router box that connects to the main FMS server?
