Jun 30, 2010I have the streaming server 3.5.3. The sample player page for the dynamic streaming is here: [URL].click on the dynamic sample. pause and wait a few minutes for disconnect from the server. When you hit play, it starts from that spot and also starts from the beginning in the background audio while showing the buffering orange circle the whole time.
My users are students watching long lectures, they pause all the time. when they come back, it is a mess.

Our problem is: When we used Flash Media Developer Server 4.5 (Trial), we can use Share folder. However, when we bought Streaming Server and deployed with same file structure, we can't use Share folder but Local folder only.
Is there any limitation of using Share folder in Streaming Server?
Configuration:
It's standard. we set fms.ini in Windows.

The problem we are facing is that Apache which comes with FMS is set to be run from /home/Apache2.2.21_x64 for some odd reason. Even though we install whole FMS to /opt/adobe/fms folder Apache still has /home/Apache2.2.21_x64 everywhere compilled in. Is there a way to change Apache root folder?

Jul 22, 2009I want to record a stream which is published with Flash Live Encoder to FMS 3.5, but split the recording in files with predefined length. For example if a stream 'webcam' is published I want to record it in chunks of 10 minutes: 'webcam1.flv', 'webcam2.flv' ... From what I can tell there's no facility to work with timers. The only solution I could think of was using stream.record() with a time limit parameter but that seems like a hack because it triggerstStream.Record.DiskQuotaExceeded on the stream when the recordin should stop and start recording another chunk. Has anyone done something similar?

May 24, 2010I'm using the server Stream.play() method to playback a recorded stream, it plays back fine until it hits the buffer limit (Say I set the buffer to 5 seconds, it will playback fine for 5 seconds). But then it freezes and playback is very stuttery (1 frame every 2/3 seconds). Is this a know issue? I'm using windows 2008 server. I've tried a few things to resolve this but no luck. The server is running the dev license and has no load.

Media Server :: Streaming Live IP Web Cams Through Streaming Server?
Sep 29, 2009We (the university I work for) want to add an IP camera to the top of a building (so it has to be IP, we can't put a machine up there, so USB is out of the question) to stream a live view of the quad. The problem is, I can't find a way to stream any IP Cameras through the flash live encoder. I tried a camera by Axis, but their capture driver only supported MJPEG which the live encoder does not.

Feb 3, 2010I'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.
Media Server :: Upgrade To 3.5 Now No VOD Streams
Aug 27, 2009We just upgraded our FMIS from 3 to 3.5. All our VOD streams were working prior to the updgrade. Now the streams do not play. When logged in to the admin and checking the Server Log, this is the message. I assume this is correct. I have **** out the address.

Media Server :: Two Incoming Streams To The Same Box?
Oct 13, 2010I'm trying to figure out whether or not it's possible to have two incoming streams to the same FMS server. Every time I try to search this information, I find stuff on having multiple outgoing streams, but nothing on multiple incoming streams.
The two streams will have the same content, but will use different video / audio codecs, and be set to different resolutions / bitrates.
I don't want to spend the money on another server, so it'd be great to know if FMS can do this..

We have tons of other videos and never ran into this problem in any of the other files. This is the only file that exceeds one hour. This occurs in the default player from the streaming server.
