Flex 4: mx|tree - How can I disable items selection? I want to disable the hover and selection colors so when a user selects an item it's background won't change color. how is that possible. I do not want to choose the selection and hover colors. the background contains an image so it won't be useful. I need to completely disable the colors.

I have two datagrids which should do everything synchronic except the data entry. I already managed to make them scroll synchronic by using the scroll event. Having used copyPixels to display an image, I'm trying to copy another in it's place when the mouse is hovering.The only way I can copy the new image over the old is by setting the If statement to == false. I know there's something wrong with testing the bitmapData of the loaded .png because the hitTest would apply to anything copied from that tile sheet... but how to designate just the copied area?

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I've looked all over here and other websites and can't find the answer. Here's the situation: I have a movieClip that has an animation inside of it. When the movieClip is hovered over, it changes to the hand (indicating it's clickable). What I need to be able to do is change the hand back to the default cursor. Every single article I've read is about how to change your cursor to something else (using mouse.hide() and replacing it with an image), which is not what I want.
I have a flash file that uses Mouse.hide() and sartDrag() to show a custom cursor. The problem is that when the cursor is above a button or movie clip (via level or layer), it doesn't work... sometimes it flickers a bit, but that's it.
This is the weird part:
When I move the custom curser beneath the button or mc, (via level or layer), it works perfectly.
I'm using CS5 actionscript 2. I would like to create hovering text when one mouses over an item in the navigation window (please see pic). You know, something that would act like a brief abstract to give the user more info re: whether or not they need to click on that link.At present, the nav_mc is linked to an xml doc FYI (the nav_mc accordians in and out, but doesn't have to). I input what I want the menu and submenu to say in the xml nodes and it shows up. It would be cool if the hover text added could also be xml driven tooI am green to this so the more detail the better. Do I need to create a new xml doc? new .swf? How do I link this? Should I use Flash Builder or Catalyst?

I am going to be working on a site that has various mechanical products for sale. The customer wants me to make a model and movie of each product to show how the product works. Here is an example product:
Flash Clip The problem I am having is, he wants the movie to only play when a user puts their mouse over the video. I attempted doing this with a mp4 file and it worked using jQuery, but only when in Chrome. Here is that link:
MP4 Clip I want these demos to be viewable by the largest possible audience, so I was trying to stay away from Flash (also because I don't know Flash very well if at all). Does anyone know of a way to get this video to work in other browsers like in the second example? If not, how can I achieve that same idea using Flash?
I've got a very strange problem with textfield selection.[code]This happens when i load a certain swf into my main swf.When all items are created, i set the focus to the first textfield.This all works fine, now the problem is, this selects the whole text in the textfield. But when i click in the textfield to set the focus somehwhere in the middle of the text this doesn't happen.. you can see the focus disappearing, but right after it selects the whole text again.When i click another textfield, or somewhere else in the application it works fine.. it also works when i press teh arrow keys first.So in short, i cannot remove the selection with the mouse, until i remove the selection with either the keyboard or by removing the focus from the textfield first.i've tried putting a textfield off stage and putting the focus there first but to no luck there.I've also tried to use [code]I've been looking and google-ing this problem for a while now, but can't find the solution.It's not giving me a headache yet, but my boss is nagging to get the problem fixed
I have a sprite on which I have added two textfields side by side, horizontally. I have set the buttonmode of sprite = true. But the mouse cursor changes from regular to clickable only when I hover it on the textfields. In the empty area between the two textfields, the cursor still appears regular/normal.
Above is a pic of a combo box loded with values. Id like to have it so when you mouse over the dropdown, a hover descripition of the value the mouse is currently on appears on the screen. I have it complete for the most part...but as you can see, the description displays behind the dropdown. Ive tried this.setChildIndex(textDescription, this.numChildren - 1)" and no luck.

I m using textarea. The problem is when i try to select a text and go out of stage and leave the mouse then again move mouse on text then selection of text will move with the mouse.
Here is what causes that:click somewhere on the text and drag the mouse in order to select the text then go out of the swf leave the mouse now move mouse on textarea -> the selection of text will move with the mouse...
How to stop this behavior?I tried to implement mouseleave on stage but the problem is i m not able to detect mouseleave event when mouse is pressed and it leaves the stage.
I want to have the mouse cursor to be changed to hand when used for entering the<mx:textInput>. When the field is already on focus, text selection should be available.I tried any combination of useHandCursor="true", buttonMode="true" and mouseChildren="false",and the closest result is when using all three of them. Then the hand cursor does appear, but the text field loses its selection 'abilities' (text cannot beselected using the mouse). This is logical, since mouseChildren="false" disables this. But how do I acheive the desired result?
I am working on Flash CS5 , and I would like to "lock" any moves or selection on the pixel grid.For example if I am moving with my mouse a square placed at x:10 and y:56 I want to have someting like x:456 and y:78 and NOT x:456,4 and y:78,8Same thing for the selection, it select sometimes half of a pixel or a quarter, and it is very anoying... I am loosing a lot of time to check every element each time I placing, moving or selecting or creating to be sure it is an integer number.
I'm trying to make a little program. It works right now by drawing the top shape to the dark gray area, where it then copies itself and changes color. The new shape can be re-dragged as well. What I want to do now is add a dynamic border when I click on the new object, I want the box to adjust to an appropriate size. And on mouse release I want the selection border to disappear on the new shape. I want the selection border to be dashed much like you find in many of Adobe's programs, if at all possible. I never realized that fl.getDocumentDOM().selection doesn't retain the selection order... <sniff>. I was hoping to build relationships based on the order. I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. i am attaching a number of _mc (my_mc) with a for loop. I need to catch a hover event on top of a flash object, so I set the wmode and created an invisible div on top of it to attach the event listeners to. Thing is, I can't click the flash object. The cover is swallowing the clicks, and the things I've tried to go around this have made a mess of the hover events. This is the 30th problem I ran into in 2 days time and it's driving me crazy xD.
