I'm embedding a .swf file into my home page, very small and simple.However, I only want this movie to play the first time someone visits that page after that, I'd like to swap out for a static image or just not have the movie play.
View 5 Repliesi have looked everywhere for a tutorial on this - i have tried writing, and re-writing codes....i just cant get it. is there any tutorial i overlooked? here is what im looking to do - NO SHORTCUTS: have my main file that loads the buttons, my external swf container, my intro animations, and my swf "out" and "in" animations when a button is clicked i want it to point me to specific frame labels. i will have an "out" and "in" frame label and which will be the locations of the transitional starting points i want it to play the "out" transition, than unload the current swf, than play the in transition, than load the swf of the button that was clicked i want the animations to all be done using frame labels all within the MAIN swf file.... i have had no luck doing this....and i do NOT like the tween class....

trying to make a play/pause toggle button in AS3. I'm a newbie but I've finished the site except for this element. my audio file works when i import to the library and it plays it in the preview. its in the same folder as the fla. working in cs3. This is what i've done.new as3 file. code.

I need some help. I want to use several swf files and have them be called upon in a container file and play them in sequence. It's a presentation that needs to play thru but still have the ability to stop, click on items, open a popup and then continue on in the presentation. I am building all the individual "chapters" and their "sub-chapters" as swf files, with the hope that I can load them in order. I am relatively new to AS3.

e.g. on press of portfolio button it plays out the home SWF which is already loaded into empty movie clip,and then when the home.SWF has reached the end frame it will then load the new portfolio SWF into the same lets say the first 10frames of any of the external SWF are the unraveling of the movie then there is a stop(); function then the next ten frames are the re-packing (sorry for terminology) of the movie

I'm just trying to make it so the video in my swf (the flv) does not immediately play when a web page opens. I have: imported the .mov into flash, creating a flv file
given it a skin converted it to a symbol (Movie Clip)
given it an instance name of movie_Clip
created an actionscript layer with the simple code of: movie_Clip.stop();
Shouldn't the clip be stopped upon opening the SWF file? How can I make it be stopped?
(Slightly different from the person's post below.)I have been using FLV-encoded short movie (1mb - 10mb) files with good success, but now I have encoded and uploaded a new movie (encoded with Adobe Media Encoder), and, when tested here on my computer, all works fine, I get the movie and the controller skin. However, I've uploaded the files to their proper locations, and when I go to the URL, the movie file will not load/play on the web page! All of my other previous movies (this is the same site/directory, no changes there) load and play fine. This new movie seems cursed. I tried encoding several versions, each slightly different.

Ive got it set up so that it all loads into a swfLOADER. Is their a way that i can make it gotoAndPlay an out phrase before loading in the next content on the swfLOADER. I dont even know if what im trying to do is possible?
Have not sucseeded so far as it just wipes the page before playing the out phase. Is their any way that i can make this work??

View 2 RepliesI have a file to which I do not have the source - a flash header with an obnoxious sound intro and I need to mute all sounds. Without the source I am limited as to what I can do. I have some as3 code that I am using to try and load the swf into and mute(building in FlashDevelop). Here is the code in question:

I would like to create multiple swf files that play from beginning to end, then load the next one without users clicking buttons. For example, I may have files A, B, C, D, E, and F. A plays and loads B. B playes and loads C. C plays and loads D..... until F finishes playing then loads A and it starts all over. What is the best way to approach this?

I am trying to load a movie without using a frame script. Basically I have the below AS to load the movie (which works fine)
However I want to play frames "40-47" then load home.swf.
I understand I could have it just goto and play frame 40 with a load home.swf frame script on frame 47. But this does not work for what I am trying.
