View 1 RepliesI'd like my application to be pretty light so it loads quickly. So i'd like to place all my assets (XML files, graphics, etc) outside from the main Air file and when the main Air file is loaded into memory, I'd like it to load in the asset files at runtimeSo how do I go about telling Flash builder to save my asset files locally when it packages my Air Application and also ensure I can access these files while debudding my application?
View 2 RepliesI have been encoding 1920x1080i mov files (h.264/aac) to 1280x720p (vp6/mp3) flvs. However, when I add older HD content into the AMC que, content with non-standard presets, the program hangs.I tried to import about 15 files last night and the program just sat there all night in a 'NOT RESPONDING' state. The video's have different audio and video settings and it's little difficult to pinpoint exactly what they were. Some are 1440x1080, some are 1280x900, some have PCM audio some of mp3.Now I temporarily resolved this issue by simply using cs4 master on my mac pro which worked great. However I have noticed a huge speed increase in CS5 64bit AMC.It takes 2-3 hours to encode 1 flash video on my mac pro (dual quad core xeon 2.9Ghz/32GB ram) with CS4.It takes ~20 minutes on my windows 7 station (single core 2 quad 3Ghz/8GB ram) with CS5.
If I drop a single file into the AMC CS5 que, regardless of the resolution, frame rate, or sound codec; it will import. If I then add another file with a different resolution AMC will hang and become non-responsive.It never crashed but I can't wait 12+ hours to see if it accepted a job or not.As I said before this problem was not observed on CS4 for mac it worked flawlessly, albeit a little slow.[code]
I have some files in my src directory, some are .class files (Java class files) and some are .properties files, when I create the Adobe air native installer these files are not included. Why is that? How can I work around that?
Also it excludes .mxml files, but that's good. I'm sure that's related, how to change what it includes or excludes?
In my machine I have installed only Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional trial version. Now this installation is not supporting adobe.utils.Extension class in this version. I have tried with all latest updates from adobe site. My doubt is does adobe.utils.Extension class is available in licensed version of Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional?
View 12 RepliesIs it possible to write text using Adobe AIR so that I can save it as an actionscript class file?
I want to generate my own classes using air, I just have not found anything that explains how I can save say a text file as a .as file.
I am writing a basic Air app where one of the features is the ability to stream voicemail off of a local PBX.The voicemails are saved in WAV format and due to outside factors this cannot be changed. According to the Air docs there is no support for the audio tag because the flash player is built in, however, the flash player doesn't support wav files.
Was this just a large oversight on Adobe's part or am I missing something obvious here?
I'm trying to use Adobe's OggVorbis library. But I can't seem to get the Sound object to loop. I even tried looping the _sound object inside the AudioDecoder.as in the "com.automatastudios.audio.audiodecoder" package. Do you really have to reload the file and stream it over and over?
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if it would be possible to write a file, not to the local system, but to a connected server or other network path. Would i have to use an external php interface for this or can i entrust this to the AIR framework?
View 2 RepliesI'm looking for a way to collect the file dependencies from Flex ActionScript and MXML files. I was hoping that mxmlc could spit them out (like gcc's -M option), but its option list doesn't seem to have anything relevant. I could write a parser, but would prefer not to reinvent the wheel if it has already been done, particularly given the two very different languages involved. In particular, star imports and in-package implicit imports could be troublesome.
View 2 RepliesWe develope for multy users OS. So my Air App needs to save some files to let all users acsess them (and be able to acsess them on its own). So I need a function to save files into public directoris (crossplatform function).

View 1 RepliesI want to build an air app that takes input (for example a list of filenames to be generated) from the user and generates sound files with desired naming. The sound files should be an "empty/silence" sound (wav, aif or mp3). Is it possible the generate such a file? If not, can I use an existing sound and embed it into the app and have that as a source when generating the files? The purpose of this is to get a structure of files ready in the project that will be replaced by our Sound Director. This way, we can trigger all sounds before they are created.

Is there a way for flash to detect what files are in a certain folder online with just a URL (ie "http://example.com/files") if the .swf file is stored on the same site?
View 1 RepliesI installed Flash CS4 Professional trial version for school use. It wouldn't install successfully. I deleted the font files the troubleshooting guide said to, tried again, but gave up. (I'm afraid to run regedit and mess up everything else I have loaded.) (I previously had the Fireworks CS4 trial version loaded, then uninstalled it.) My problem is this- I have it running, but it saves files and then they can't be opened, even if I use the save function often- it's worse when I create the file, test the movie and then save.If I try to open it again, it says "cannot open file." Once it opened a copy I had saved, and it appeared blank, even though it was 544 kb file size. I only need it for a few more days, one more assignment and I'm afraid my previous files are corrupt. I have Windows Vista Home Edition.

Is there a maximum size limit for files being uploaded in Adobe Flex?I am testing it on localhost and can't upload a file of roughly 300MB.Even though I receive the complete event, after I upload the file....I was able to upload a file of roughly 10MB.
View 1 RepliesI am constructing a Flash animation and I was hoping to build it by scenes. These scenes would be individual SWF movies that I could import into my final Flash file in consequential order and when finished I would have a completed Flash Movie. There would be no interaction beyond Play/and replay. Where can I get information on how to construct this and is this a recomended way to do it?

View 2 RepliesI'm wanting to create a moving object that will be exported into a tv commercial. Object has already been created in Adobe Illustrator, and now will be dropped into flash for adding movement. The destination commercial will be created in Sony Vegas, with the settings of (Australian) PAL television (25 fps, 576x720 pixels, lower field first). Thus keeping it simple, I want to set Adobe flash with the same output format, meaning that the canvas will have to be 576x720 pixels at 25 fps. So far this seems to have worked okay. Now I'm wanting to get rid of the canvas colour, just like I have here in this photoshop screen shot.
Judging by the colour palette in Flash Professional, it looks like it can't be done. I've checked "transparent palette" through yahoo and google, and had no results. The adobe documentation only details how to remove a background in Photoshop.
I have been trying for days to write my own custom NCManager class that allows us to connect to a Limelight stream. We have to issue a NetCOnnect.call() that has the command "FCSubscribe" and the stream name. I've written a 100% custom player(url...) (have to register!) but what I want to to resolve that player with the video-on-demand player(url...) into a single Flash project.I want to allow our Graphics guys (aka Flash developers) to be able to use the standard Adobe FLVPlayback components and skins and also be able to p lay back files, streaming content and Limelight content. To this end I thought that writing a custom NCManager class would be the way to go.
I have 99.9% succeeded: my class gets the connectToURL(),connects to Limelight, subscribes and all is well but I am really really stuck now on how to tell the FLVPlayback component that it .can start playing back now that the stream is connected.FLVPlayback and VideoPlayer parts appear to be AS2 and I cannot call the rtmpStatusInfo() function on the VideoPlayer part to tell it that it is good to go.I am so close I can taste it: If I create a NetStream object and play() it, I can hear the content to I know that if I could only get the FLVPlayback / VideoPlayer dynamic duo to playback then the job would be done.
I have attached the code, warts and all in the hope that either somebody has done this before or can tell me what I have misunderstood about the internal state-machine / FSM logistics that VideoPlayer et al implement.By reading the source code and my debugging statements I can see that I have maneuvered it towards the ultimate goal of playback but I don't know how to make that final step.
PS: I *know* that reconnect() is non-functional but if I uncomment the call all it does is go around the loop again; the real problem is I cannot tell the VideoPlayer that it can play (via rtmpStatusInfo) the data etc
PPS: The meta-data related stuff *only* gets called if I uncomment the NetStream code; this was to check that I had a valid playback stream, which I do at that point.
I have no experience with Adobe Flash because others have done this out of house in the past. (time has come for me to learn - quickly)
I need to simply create "swf" files from a number of videos I have finished in Premiere Pro 5.5.
These videos are 800 x 600 videos that display at "point-of-sale". The spec is swf and not flv.
(I do not need to do anything else in Flash apart from create the video file with the swf extension.)
I'd like to convert a Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 .fla file to an Adobe Flash Professional 8 .fla file. Is this possible without downloading Adobe Flash Professional CS4 and CS3?
