Professional :: Changing Color Of An Object On Stage During Runtime?
Mar 4, 2010I was wondering if there is a way to change the color of an object during runtime.

View 1 RepliesI need to change the stage size dynamically. When I try to do this?
size_mc.onRelease = function(){
trace(Stage.height);
Stage.height += 100;
trace(Stage.height);}
It comes always the current stage size.
I have a few movie clips that change color when they are rolled over and rolled out of which is great and works correctly but now I have add glows to those buttons to serve as borders or a stroke and when you roll over the buttons the color and the filter color changes.

I need to change the size of the stage dynamically during the runtime when the swf receives a flashvar from the html page. Can this be done?
I want to change by code, in as3 the color of the stage, I write: stage.color = "black" , but gives me error
View 1 RepliesI have a FLA in which I've added three movie clips, each with a unique name. I've set the MC name through the properties panel as well as giving the MC a name when converting it from a image to a MovieClip (by clicking F8).
When I run the swf and output the names of the children in the swf, I find that the name of one of the MovieClips changes, for example from myFirst_MC to instance8.
To output the MovieClip names I loop through all the children of the swf and output the name like this:
for(var i:uint=0;i<numChildren;i++){
var display:DisplayObject = getChildAt(i);
trace( display.name );
}
Why does the instance name of a MC change? And how can I stop this from happening?
I just went to the site www.aroots.com, according to its interface, the frame rate (fps) is changing.
is it possible to change the frame rate at runtime?
I have a problem, no I already have the code and here is what I am using (MC is the original movieclip on the stage while MC1 and MC2 are child movieclips within MC)
Code:
var ob1color = new color("_root.MC.MC1");
var ob2color = new color("_root.MC.MC2");
ob1color.setRGB(0x00FF00);
ob2color.setRGB(0x00FF00);
That code works perfectly fine it's just that if I animate MC1 and MC2 within MC it doesn't work I would have to group those 2 into a seperate movieclip called MC3 in order for the animation to work. I mean it's great I found a way around it but is there anyway to NOT have to have that MC3 in order for the animation to work? Because working with so many Movieclips can get so annoying this is my hierarchy.
Code:
[Stage] > [MC] > [MC3] > [MC1 MC2 animation]
That MC3 is an un-needed movieclip other than to work the animation. Is there any way I can fix that? I Also have to change the code to look like this
Code:
var obcolor = new color("_root.MC.MC3");
It's looking like you can't apply a color change AND animate an object.
i have a shape on stage that i need to randomly change color using as3 i've tried doing this a few ways and have had no success.
View 1 RepliesI know that you can change changeobject's color with AS3 is using colorTransform. However if I do this, then I can't really use filters. For example, if I apply DropShadowFilter on an object which color is changed with colorTransform, then the color of a shadow is the same as object's color. So I tried to use ColorMatrixFilter to change object's color. And it works with colors like FF0000, but it doesn't with colors like FFFFFF. IS there a way to change objects color to white using ColorMatrixFilter? I use the following methods:[code]
View 2 Repliesi'm trying to make something that will change a section on an image to other colors (or possibly another picture) when clicked. Something similar to this would work [URL] But, when you click on the colors, instead of the colors just filling in the wheel, i'd like it to change it to a picture, of lets just say in this example, another rim...a picture of a different actual rim instead of just a color fill.
Then, I'd like the option to have another section that will do the same, but for another location on the car. So, for example, there's a section for the rim colors like the link has. And, there is also another section with more images that can be clicked to change the headlights....then one for the background, etc...
I am making a flash animation and what I want is to have different movieclips animating over the screen and randomly changing colors. The animation is not the problem but the color changing.
i got this so far:
Code:
var myTimer:Timer = new Timer(1000); // 1 second
myTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, runMany);
myTimer.start();
[Code]...
Every second ALL my objects change color. But there are some movieclips that must stay the same color. So i changed the this inside the code above to some movieclip. If i tried that again, the animation of that movieclip stopt after it changed 1 time to another color.
Does any one know how i can solve this? so that the color of the movieclips will randomly change after 1 second AND the movieclips keeps their animation?
I am trying to change the background color in a flash 8 .exe file that seems to extract setup variables via an xml file. The xml file reads as follows:
*?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?**settings* *min*10000*/min* *max*10119*/max* *exclude* *range min="12" max="14"**/range* *range min="16" max="18"**/range* */exclude* *putbackin*false*/putbackin* *titletext**![CDATA[*font color="#000000"

I have a symbol of a shape with a gradient drawn in Illustrator that I copied-and-pasted into Flash CS5. I created a simple motion tween by making the symbol move around the stage and scale. How do I now change the color of the symbol as it is moving on stage?
View 4 RepliesI'm reletively new to flash, and am trying to modify a template and am running into a problem and I don't seem to know why Flash is acting so strange. I am going into a movie clip to edit the color of an item, and when I do so with a tint, it overrides any additional effects such as light, and text. The color appears almost as if it were just slapped on top of everything. When I edit the color in advanced mode, it is really a hit-or-miss to get the correct color, and will only modify when changing the offset RGB.
And also when doing this, the text gradually changes color, for example: there are 4 items in total that I want to edit the color of. Each item is a different colored box with text on the front (for a main Navigation of the website). --- The first item, the text will stay white. Gradually through the second and third items it starts to change, and by the fourth / last item, the text is completely blue. Is it possible for a portion of text to be connected somehow to an object within the animation in a movieclip? If so, is it possible to go inside and edit this? -the shape, animation, and text? Is there an easier way to change the color of an item inside a movie clip? I can supply additional information if needed.. files etc.
AS3 page with text links that change to a new color on mouse_over and change back on mouse_out. Sometimes the links do not change back and all remain colored after mouse-out. I have never been able to simulate the problem on my several computers at several locations but have seen it happen on the clients computers. Is there a known issue perhaps with Flash/AS3/Flash Player Version# that might cause this?
View 1 RepliesI'm learning how to use flash CS5.5 and i'm unable to continue a lesson because my button editing seems to not work properly. -When i double click or right click and click edit on my button I go into the symbol edit screen, where i can see the basic button states "Up, Over, Down, & Hit" but when I try to change the appearence of the button in each state the color and any sort of editing done to it does not happen, it is red in the "up" keyframe and when i try to change it to gray in the "over" keyframe it stays red.
-I found that double clicking the button in the edit screen goes into another edit screen labled "symbol 1" and in there i can change the color of the button, but any edits in that screen remain ineffectuall to the actuall button on the main screen. I don't know what is wrong with it, or if I am missing something, i've tried in both action script 2 and 3 and both have the same results.
I've been thinking about the possibility of using Flash to create designs through ActionScript and tools that I could use at runtime. Is there any way of saving the stage elements as an image that I can use for print output later, preferably as a vector image?I realise the better option would probably be to learn how to script in java script or another language that can be used with a drawing application such as Illustrator, but I'm curious about what sort of options I have to do it through Flash.
View 1 RepliesThis question has been raised in other forums as one of "moving the stage," and the solution seemed to be that the stage cannot be moved, only the components of the animation can be moved. That solution does not work for my situation (I am using CS4) where moving a motion path causes the shape off an object to be altered.Perhaps I can pose the question this way:The stage initially has origin (0,0) and the size of the stage is measured from that point. Is it possible to change the origin to, say, (-100, -200), which, in effect moves every object on stage 100 pixels to the right (because the stage has moved 100 pixels to the left) and 200 pixels down?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to get the letters in a word (each letter is an individual text object) to cycle through three different colors when clicked. Right now, all they do is change from their original color, blue, to black when clicked. No further "cycling" occurs. I'm appending the code. The part of interest is (probably?) in what is presently (and inaccurately) the "traceTextEvent()" function/method. It starts around line 90 of the code.

trying to set the stage with a color from the classic window and properties. However when I select a stage color it remains white, and will not change. I have tried everything I know how to do like uninstalling and re-nstalling, going through the endless files and forums.
View 4 Replieswhat stage colour I assign to my document, when I export the SWF it's always displays as the default white. I've tried re-installing but this doesn't fix it.
This is just one of the bugs I've encountered in Flash. I'm sick of the amount of bugs Adobe simply ignore and get away with it.
i'm doing a school project of mine and i am having trouble doing the changing color objects. here is an axample of the script that i;m using:
on (rollOver) {
var colorful = new Color("_root.shapes");
colorful.setRGB(0x003366);
}
For this script it does change color, but how do i make it to stay the same color that user selected after going to another scene?
I am using a tilelist I want to change the border color and the background color of the tile on selection.
View 1 RepliesI am in the making of a isometric level editor, and I have about 15 movie clips with more to come. I want to let people change the color of tiles to what they want from a list of colors, so how can I let them change the color of a tile dinamicly with actionscript so that it changes a tile's color while preserving changes of "shadows"? I mean I have let's say a cube and to make it look 3D I need to change each face to make a feeling of 3D and not a flat one.
View 1 Repliesi have been doing this tutorial http:[url]..but i am stuck on PART 8, i have done everything the tutorial has said so far (although my image and the colors used are different) but the large blank box at the top of the color pallet isnt changing color when i click on any color from the pallet.
Also this tutorial doesnt say what version of flash and actionscript is best suited for this.Currently i am using CS4 & Action Script 2.0 but i don't know if this is correct. below there is a link to the fla. file that Coloring_Book.fla.
I have a movie clip where it contains an instance of text
I able to change the movie clip and text color individually
but when i try to change both at once the text color is same as movie clip color
ActionScript Code:
myColor = new Color(myMovieClip);
myTextColor= new Color(myMovieClip.myText);
[Code].....
So i'm working on this website and I want to be able to switch out the entire color scheme on the website everytime a button is pressed, I've stepped away from flash for awhile and actionscript 3 is new me. Plus I haven't quite found any truely useful stuff on forums yet.
What i can't figure out is when a button is pressed the HTML background color changes to one of 5 preselected colors (that alternate ever time the button is pressed). Then for each background change the text changes too as it is part of a entire new color scheme.
What I've managed so far is to change the color of the background thats within the Flash file. What i did was to make a movie clip that plays to a next frame and stop everytime the button is pressed. Now i just need to also get to change the HTML color and the font colors.
//"homeText" being the name of dynamic text field and "Button" the name of the button and "background" being the movie clip that is the background within the flash file.
Button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Button_CLICK);
function Button_CLICK(e:MouseEvent):void{
background.play(); homeText.TextFormat(color "0x000000");}
I'm not sure if my code is just sloppy or if i'm completely going the wrong route here.
Is there a way to set the background color for the stage to transparent instead of a color? I only see color as options when clicking in property manager for the background.
