Professional :: Fonts Not Showing Up In Flash CS5?

As adobe's phone cust. service is rubbish, making me wait for half an hour just to tell me they can't even try to help me with fonts that are not purchased from adobe, I have turned to this message board in the hopes that someone here can help me with my latest in a perpetual series of dillemmmas with this nightmare of a program...
Im using flash cs5 at work on a mac pro with juiced up processors, memory, etc. I installed a bunch of fonts, mostly ttf and otf and when flash loads I'd say about 40% of the fonts that I installed don't show up in the font list. This sucks. Adobe's good programs like photoshop and illustrator show all my fonts, no questions asked. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the fonts, re-starting flash, and disabling fonts. My one breakthrough was when i created another account on my computer and tried installing a font which was not showing up in the new user's font book. Lo and behold, the font shows up in flash! I have about 900 fonts on my computer which may be alot but I have used previous versions of flash with around that number of fonts and I don't recall any problems. I really dont want to switch my user account as this is a company computer and it will throw off company related access.
I am new to flash and having a problem with fonts not showing up in the font list. I am trying to develop my first flash based site and designed the base in Photoshop, using a .TTF font that I downloaded. The font shows up fine in photoshop but when the file is imported into flash it says the font is not available.
I'm trying to set up an old Flex project in IntelliJ IDEA but are having a problem with all embeded fonts.The font is installed on my Windows 7 PC and are also located in the folder fonts in the directory where my ActionScript sources are located. I'm using the SDK compiler config from flex_sdk_4.1 with additional option of -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries=true.
my web site has a lots of text field. it is xml based site.it is locally run perfectly but after i upload it to my server it's text fields' fonts replace to default fonts.some text gone down.so its confused to me.i used Myridpro font.now it is replace to default font .can u tell what is the solution for that..? I'm running XP and have installed 6 .otf fonts, from the Avenir family. Flash MX 2004 and Flash 8 don't see all but the Light and Roman versions of the font (they are the only ones that appear in the font menu). Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop display all the fonts, however.
An associate suggested that sometimes Flash doesn't like the names to be non-standard; in other words, it doesn't like "Heavy", but prefers "Bold", etc. This seems to support the fonts not being displayed in the Flash font menu, as they are AvenirLTStd-Heavy.otf, AvenirLTStd-HeavyOblique.otf, AvenirLTStd-LightOblique.otf and AvenirLTStd-Oblique.otf. The only two being displayed in the font menu are AvenirLTStd-Roman.otf and AvenirLTStd-Light.otf ("Roman" and "Light" are pretty traditional names).
I've tried renaming the fonts to "Bold" and "italic", etc., but Windows still sees the original names. I've tried opening the fonts in Notepad and changing all references (for example, all "Heavy" to "bold"), but saving the font file (even if I add and remove a space) makes it unreadable as a font (security issues, I think). One reason I think it's a naming issue, is I did try renaming Heavy to Roman, and installed it, and Flash saw it as Roman, but it had the Heavy characteristic. This work-around doesn't work, however, as I need Roman, too (and renaming it Roman2 doesn't work). Is there any solution for this? I need access to all of the Avenir font family, as it's for a branded project that uses Avenir specifically. Oh, and last but not least, I have the fonts installed on my Mac, and Flash 8 and CS3 both see all the fonts, no problem.
i'm fresh to using flash cs5. everything works smoothly,but i can't use type1 fonts (even though they work ok in flash cs3, and also, all the other types of fonts work fine).if i use a type1 font, the textfield (both render in the final swf, as well as on the stage) appears in some default font.
I just upgraded to Flash CS5. Font embedding is entirely different than it was in CS4. I've been looking for examples online but none seem to show me a solution that matches what I need.
In the project I'm working on, code changes the font a text box uses based on region and language. To keep file size down I created separate swf files with the fonts embedded. That way I only download the font I need. The way I did this and the code I used in CS4 doesn't seem to work anymore.
I used the proLoader that comes in Flash5.5 to load a swf which contains a tlf text with an embedded font. The proLoader works great but it doesn't display the font instead it displays a font that looks like Helvetica. I also tried 'merged into code' in RSL settings default linkage and the swf still does not display the font I want. It works fine in Classic Text.

I have a couple of Flash projects that were originally built in CS3. Last year I upgraded them to CS5 without trouble. Recently I have upgraded my Macs to Snow Leopard, and when I open both of these FLA files in CS5 on Snow Leopard, some of the fonts are insanely distorted.
I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

A Boolean value that indicates whether the font specified in fontFamily is an embedded font. This style must be set to true if fontFamily refers to an embedded font. Otherwise, the embedded font is not used. If this style is set to true and fontFamily does not refer to an embedded font, no text is displayed. The default value is false. TL;DR Original Version: I have a flash application which loads external .swf files containing embedded fonts, so that these fonts can be used within the main application. We're accomplishing this by using the following ActionScript code on anything which uses custom fonts:
a few months ago we bought a flash ready template that I customized with our information. I decided to update the website information and wrote new text. Now when I do the publish preview the upated text is not showing up. I have not change the font, color just the size because in the original it looked too small. when looking at the properties is shown as the default of font (the one the template came with) static text.
What is causing the updated text not to show up? I am not really experienced with flash, i am trying to figure out also how to see the code of the pages but i don't know how to do that.
I have built a flash navigation menu that plays fine. I exported it and saved it into the root directory of my website.Then I opened the website and added it where I wanted it (on a Template) by selecting Insert>Media>Flash and following the steps.I added the files to my server and am finding something odd. When I open the Template file on the website, it loads the Flash file just fine.[URL] However, when I load any of the pages built from the Template the menu won't load correctly.[URL]
first I tried to install the NewGrounds Ad component for AS 3.0 which delivers as an .xmp file. I doubleclicked it and in the Extension Manager it's listed as active under Flash CS5. I restarted flash, but the component does not show up in the components list.I then tried to install the minimal components fromwhich are delivered as an SWC. I went to the ActionScript 3.0 settings in flash, went to the "library path" tab and clicked browse to swc to select the SWC file. but these components don't show up in the components list either.
I have a flash movie on a login page that shows up fine in every browser apart from IE8 (surprise surprise!), where I just see a red cross in a square. You can see what I mean if you look at the page in IE:

I'm adapting an off the shelf mp3 player and would like to make some text bold - namely [URL] the text that shows the current artist/song at the top. This is dynamic text from an XML file. I've embedded the fonts [Verdana regular and bold - OpenType] in Flash CS5 but the bold won't display even though the special characters do display [Jónsi].
I have a 30 sec flash file that was converted from a .flv to .swf in flash CS5.I place the .swf file in Dreamweaver CS5.The file is only 57k the .flv was 3,560k. The flash plays perfect locally.When uploaded thru the "put" function with Dreamweaver the .swf file uploads along with the java and expessistall.swf. The flash will not display on the website.
i have a font that is installed on my system Mac OSX Lion and can view it fine, however i have a fla file that i used the font in and when i look at the drop down box of fonts, this is not showing, i have tried reinstalling the font with no luck what so ever.
I made a movie in Flash CS3. The exported SWF shows that the right hand side of some of my letterforms (made from a non-converted font) are clipped off. Switching fonts produces similar results. Is there some glitch in the program that I am no aware of?
I embedded font using Flash Professional CS5, but I still can't use it in my AS code. How should I embed the font to be able to use it in AS3 as well in Flash Professional CS5?
I googled this relentlessly, but was unable to find an answer. I have a font --- P22 Hopper (PC Postscript Type 1) --- that does not show up accuratly in Flash CS4. The font is script, but it shows up as a generic sans serif. I have inserted a screenshot to illustrate. Oddly, this font shows up perfectly in all other CS4 products and also works fine in Flash 8.
I've created an eBook that's 972 X 500 pixels (13.5" X 7"). The image in the browser is roughly 9.5 inches wide. Is there a way to make the browser display the image at actual size? Am I missing something here? The SWF file does print out at the true size from the browser.
When I changed hosting from the companies hosting to my own personal GoDaddy hosting everything went right, except for 2 flash slide shows (Simple rotating images). They just apear as clear boxes now. You can see what I am talking about here: [URL] and here [URL] . You will notice the empty large empty box on the right in both pages. When you right click on it the browser recognizes that it is flash. On the Piza site I tried taking out the original code and entering the flash object via Dreamweaver CS5, but that yeilded the same results (I only mention this because the code on that site will thus look a bit different).
when i convert an object to a symbol and edit it into Edit in Place and getting out of Symbol Editing Mode after the change have been made, the edited objects are also showing on stage.
I've recently had to format my computer and now having a problem with the flash actionscript window: the actionscript text looks like bold, or in a different font. The problem is that when I search for something like "flash" and "fonts", no matter which other words I use, always comes a lot of things about fonts for flash files, or for flash embedding fonts, but never for the program itself. Wich font is missing in my system that flash CS3 needs?

I have a shared fonts.swf file containing a variety of fonts that my main swf uses. I have a movieclip within the fonts.swf file which is exported for runtime sharing. In my main swf I have the fonts.swf imported for runtime via a movieclip. This all works fine and allows me to use the fonts within the fonts.swf file in my main swf. I am trying to work out how to import fonts.swf for runtime via as2 (instead of manually within the library), as in different circumstances different fonts are required and it is massively increasing the filesize having to import all fonts every time when only a few are needed.
