i have a font that is installed on my system Mac OSX Lion and can view it fine, however i have a fla file that i used the font in and when i look at the drop down box of fonts, this is not showing, i have tried reinstalling the font with no luck what so ever.

This is dynamic text from an XML file. I've embedded the fonts [Verdana regular and bold - OpenType] in Flash CS5 but the bold won't display even though the special characters do display [Jónsi].
View 10 RepliesI googled this relentlessly, but was unable to find an answer. I have a font --- P22 Hopper (PC Postscript Type 1) --- that does not show up accuratly in Flash CS4. The font is script, but it shows up as a generic sans serif. I have inserted a screenshot to illustrate. Oddly, this font shows up perfectly in all other CS4 products and also works fine in Flash 8.
View 2 RepliesIn my application I'm using a custom embedded font for English (Helvetica New) which does not contain characters (glyphs) for chinese unicode range. In the application, wherver chinese characters are avaiable they are not displayed (suppressed) since they are missing in the custom embedded font. How can I make the flash player to use a fallback system font for the missing characters? And the fallback should be for the missing characters alone. For the Engligh characters it should use the embedded font.

If you click on About Us from the menu, on every computer but mine the About Us header at the end of the animation shows up as regular text and not the style I used.Here is a screen shot of what it is suppose to look like:on why this would happen? View 12 RepliesI have an English based flash set that I'm localizing in Japanese. The client has written to embed the fonts in a font.swf. So I figured I can just add 'New Font' for Japanese fonts, add the class ID to the script file:

then export the fonts,swf, and launch the main.swf, JPN fonts should show up correctly. But instead, I get blanks for Japanese characters. Does anyone know what I missed? I've tried other methods: 1) add a layer in main file, 'Character Embedding' in Properties; 2) 'Character Embedding' each text boxes in main; none has worked.
I've flex application and am using arial font family. My problem is, arial fonts are shown up in windows while on Mac, it's been replaced with Times New Roman. (Arial font is there on both systems).

View 2 RepliesI have a site I was working on that I am using two main fonts in. I had the fonts embedded in the SWF. I upgraded to CS 5.5 this morning, now some of the fonts have changed.
I have two SWF's that when loaded into the main site, no longer have the correct font. When I preview them independently, they are fine. When they load into the main SWF they use a standard font instead of the embedded one.
henever I try to embed fonts for dynamic text fields, no text appears in my text box. The text is loaded into the dynamic field from another variable, long story short it all works, except for if I try to embed fonts. One thing, the dynamic textbox is html enabled, and I have <b> tags within the code, so the text ends up being bold. This is how I want it. Do I have to 'embed' a bold variation of the font as well as the regular variation?
View 1 RepliesSo I have a MovieClip asset with a dynamic textfield sitting inside of it. I export my .fla as a .swc to use within Flash Builder 4, and create instances of the asset with code, populating the text dynamically from XML.
My issue is that even though I have htmlText enabled, bold and italics tags don't appear to be working. I have a feeling it is because when I created the asset in Flash CS4, the text field makes you specify the font, and the subset of that to use (Regular, Bold, Oblique, etc).
Is there any way to get the htmlText to render bold and italics tags properly without having to completely rethink the way I'm creating all these fields?

View 0 RepliesI have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.

I get a compiler error 1119 Access of possibly undefined property html through a reference with static flash.text:TextField. The text box is a dynamic text box, not static, so I'm puzzled.I don't get this error with the GG Subscript code above.

View 1 Repliesa few months ago we bought a flash ready template that I customized with our information. I decided to update the website information and wrote new text. Now when I do the publish preview the upated text is not showing up. I have not change the font, color just the size because in the original it looked too small. when looking at the properties is shown as the default of font (the one the template came with) static text.
What is causing the updated text not to show up? I am not really experienced with flash, i am trying to figure out also how to see the code of the pages but i don't know how to do that.
I have built a flash navigation menu that plays fine. I exported it and saved it into the root directory of my website.Then I opened the website and added it where I wanted it (on a Template) by selecting Insert>Media>Flash and following the steps.I added the files to my server and am finding something odd. Im using flash cs5 at work on a mac pro with juiced up processors, memory, etc. I installed a bunch of fonts, mostly ttf and otf and when flash loads I'd say about 40% of the fonts that I installed don't show up in the font list. This sucks. Adobe's good programs like photoshop and illustrator show all my fonts, no questions asked. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the fonts, re-starting flash, and disabling fonts. My one breakthrough was when i created another account on my computer and tried installing a font which was not showing up in the new user's font book. Lo and behold, the font shows up in flash! I have about 900 fonts on my computer which may be alot but I have used previous versions of flash with around that number of fonts and I don't recall any problems. I really dont want to switch my user account as this is a company computer and it will throw off company related access.
first I tried to install the NewGrounds Ad component for AS 3.0 which delivers as an .xmp file. I doubleclicked it and in the Extension Manager it's listed as active under Flash CS5. I restarted flash, but the component does not show up in the components list.I then tried to install the minimal components fromwhich are delivered as an SWC. I went to the ActionScript 3.0 settings in flash, went to the "library path" tab and clicked browse to swc to select the SWC file. but these components don't show up in the components list either.

Scenario: Flex application utilizing an @font-face declaration for embedding the font. (Embedded fonts are required to be able to rotate text.)
The application was originally developed as an English application, but during localization it became necessary to locate a unicode font capable of displaying Asian characters. The original implementation of the application uses four fonts to satisfy the various permutations of character emphasis. Bold, Bold Italic, Italic and Normal are all supplied through the corresponding Arial fonts in the Arial family.
Problem: When trying to compile in the font as one that could be used for the bold, italic, and bold italic through something like (yes its not ideal, this was just a test to see if it could be done):

It isn't so much the how to solve this issue. There are plenty of viable solutions. However what I would really like to know is how does Flex apply bold and italics to a font that it says does not support bold or italics.
I'm wanting to create a moving object that will be exported into a tv commercial. Object has already been created in Adobe Illustrator, and now will be dropped into flash for adding movement. The destination commercial will be created in Sony Vegas, with the settings of (Australian) PAL television (25 fps, 576x720 pixels, lower field first).Thus keeping it simple, I want to set Adobe flash with the same output format, meaning that the canvas will have to be 576x720 pixels at 25 fps. So far this seems to have worked okay.Now I'm wanting to get rid of the canvas colour, just like I have here in this photoshop screen shot.
Judging by the colour palette in Flash Professional, it looks like it can't be done. I've checked "transparent palette" through yahoo and google, and had no results. The adobe documentation only details how to remove a background in Photoshop.
I have a 30 sec flash file that was converted from a .flv to .swf in flash CS5.I place the .swf file in Dreamweaver CS5.The file is only 57k the .flv was 3,560k. The flash plays perfect locally.When uploaded thru the "put" function with Dreamweaver the .swf file uploads along with the java and expessistall.swf. The flash will not display on the website.
