I made a movie in Flash CS3. The exported SWF shows that the right hand side of some of my letterforms (made from a non-converted font) are clipped off. Switching fonts produces similar results. Is there some glitch in the program that I am no aware of?
View 9 RepliesI have a series of mp4 videos (H.236 @ 22 fps) streaming from an akamai FMS serve via RTMP protocol in flash player 9+ with AS 3.My goal is to create client side playlists that smoothly switch from one stream to another. I am creating these playlists using a series of netStream. play (filename,start,len) methods. If I don't use an offset for the start parameter, then the stream switches smoothly from one video to the next with not noticeable jump or jerkiness. However if I introduce a start offset, say a few seconds in, I start to see a quick little hiccup or pause between the seams as it switches from one playlist stream to the next.

So i need to make a group of objects i can make into a movie clip and than inside that movie clip make an animation that plays the squirrel running. i will pause here to ask two things i dont know how to do i want the squirrel to have an animation when standing still where it flicks its tail (like a real squirrel would). and also how would i flip the squirrel so when the left key is pressed it points left and when the right arrow is pressed it faces left? and my main question when it reaches the edge of the stage the extended background that runs off stage moves over to reavel more content. as well as not have the squirrel run off stage? in short i am using the squirrel to view the full pages content.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a website for my wife. Everything is completed and it looks great. The only problem I'm having is that when my wife goes to view the websit on her computer (much smaller size). The page cuts off and there's no scroll bar feature which I thought was like a fixture on websites. I've been looking for hours on how to add a scroll bar to my entire website .. like the standard browser scroll bar but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I have two files, one is the index.fla file which i used to create my page in using Flash CS5 and the other is the index.html file which I can edit in Dreamweaver.

I have designed a Flash animation for a client who has asked me to also provide it in a format which can be used in a film he wants to produce in Apple Final Cut Pro. I assumed the best format would be QuickTime but whenever I export the Flash file in to QuickTime the quality of the film is awful - the graphics leave fragments of themselves behind as they move (if that makes sense?!) and the overall quality isn't very crisp.

Is there any way to determine the list of class names of all these exported asserts from within the movie that loads them?
I've got a textfield creater that creates a nice textfield when I hover over a moveable button. However, when I click and drag that button around the flash movie, the text field disapears off the edge of the screen if I get to close to the right side. Can I adjust the width of the textfield as the mouse is moving closer to the edge?

No .swc is found. I already selected the export to .swc file in Publish Settings, however the result is sameQ2. I have tried to export a .swc file on the Library Panel. It works. Im using flash cs5 at work on a mac pro with juiced up processors, memory, etc. I installed a bunch of fonts, mostly ttf and otf and when flash loads I'd say about 40% of the fonts that I installed don't show up in the font list. This sucks. Adobe's good programs like photoshop and illustrator show all my fonts, no questions asked. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the fonts, re-starting flash, and disabling fonts. My one breakthrough was when i created another account on my computer and tried installing a font which was not showing up in the new user's font book. Lo and behold, the font shows up in flash! I have about 900 fonts on my computer which may be alot but I have used previous versions of flash with around that number of fonts and I don't recall any problems. I really dont want to switch my user account as this is a company computer and it will throw off company related access.
I'm having a very basic problem, im trying to do a slow zoom/scale of an image (jpg), in this case its a company logo. the problem im having, as you'll see is that this causes edge effects, they are shakey/aliased.almost looks like some sort of antialiasing is required.

how can I get the dragable movie to know when it is at the edge of the screen and to let go.
I have tried but dont know how to go about it.

I had been using Flash MX 2004 previously to create sprites for video games. In the "export" dialog, there was a check box labeled 'smooth,' which I could un-check in order to retain the hard edges that I needed in order to use the sprites in a game.Somewhat recently, I upgraded to Flash CS4. I have since noticed that, while the 'smooth' checkbox is still there in the "export" dialog, it doesn't do anything.I have tried many different options for exporting, including all different kinds of file types. Through this experimentation, I also noticed:1) that even though it is possible to choose a palette when exporting a .gif, the exported image does not use this palette, and2) that if one exports the image as an Adobe Illustrator file, the colors are wrong.
View 1 RepliesI've imported a multi-layered Photoshop file (that contains layers with elements smaller than the project size... so each layer is alpha with an element floating somewhere on the canvas.I was pleasantly surprised to see that it not only imported into Flash CS3, but also kept all the alpha and successfully exported as a Flash file with the alpha (of each layer) intact. I didn't think it would be able to do that!Anyway, the one thing that concerns/interests me is whether whatever it's doing is compatible on all systems that it'll reach. At first, I thought it was converting each layer into a PNG file, since (to the best of my knowledge) jpegs dont' support transparency, and the layers were not converted to vectors.
So, what exactly IS it doing to each layer? What is it exporting them as? How compatible is that on other systems (browsers, O/S's, etc) these days? Also, are PNG files now fully supported in all browsers and systems?I'd hate to build my whole site, only to find that it's not compatible on some other system....Bit of back story... I'm creating a multi-layered interface (background, then another level with some random loaded swf file, then the 'moving stuff' (nav buttons, titles, etc), and then an odd shaped frame on top of that. Previously, I did it by making everything with Flash vectors... but this time, I tried making all the elements/layers in Photoshop with just bitmaps (rather than vectors), as I wanted a bit more detail.
Originally, I was considering vectorizing them, so it would be all vectors and no bitmaps.... but with all the gradients and details, they would be an inefficient nest of vectors.... quite a mess.So, then I considered doing most of the screen as a bitmap background image, and putting the 'moving stuff' as vectors on top (...and perhaps use masks so that they appeared to go behind the frame and foreground items... but I was worried that (on perhaps other systems or configurations) the image and the vector matte wouldn't align for some reason.
Has anyone tried to open a .fla file exported out of InDesign CS5 to change the Flash Player setting to 9, rather than 10, then resave (or publish) as a .swf file?
If so, how did you get it work work again? What did you do to maintain the programming?
When I publish the file as .swf out of Flash CS5, then upload it to a remote server or view it in a browser window, everything has gone wacky--text is larger in scale than in the original file and the animations (fade in and slide in) on the first page, which I can't get past, run in a continuous loop.
why does my exported .mov file freeze/skip? I exported a .mov if HD 1280x720 and it freezes/skips. If I convert it to another format it's okay. Is it my video card or am I am not exporting it right? I used the h.264 and compressor quality best.
View 1 RepliesI have a problem with Input Text boxes within an exported swf. The font (Arial Narrow) has been embedded via Text > Font Embedding (Uppercase, Lowercase, Numerals, and Puncuation checked); but, upon export, certain characters do not register (specifically j, q. u, z, 8, and 9) or automatically take one case or the other (B, M, W, and X are always Uppercase; while k always appears as Lowercase).

You see I imported a flv file (which was converted from a wmv) into Flash Prof CS5, when I did this I got a nice interface to choose a player control skin for the movie. However when I export the movie the player controls are no longer present.I'm doing this simply so I can embed the swf on a website and wish the user to have some control over it.

The zoom just works fine by changing the value from 1 up to 3 with a slider. Midpoint of the zoom is the center of the container (map).My problem: when i zoom, the scroller cuts a part of the groups. it zooms out of the window?!
I'm running XP and have installed 6 .otf fonts, from the Avenir family. Flash MX 2004 and Flash 8 don't see all but the Light and Roman versions of the font (they are the only ones that appear in the font menu). Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop display all the fonts, however.
An associate suggested that sometimes Flash doesn't like the names to be non-standard; in other words, it doesn't like "Heavy", but prefers "Bold", etc. This seems to support the fonts not being displayed in the Flash font menu, as they are AvenirLTStd-Heavy.otf, AvenirLTStd-HeavyOblique.otf, AvenirLTStd-LightOblique.otf and AvenirLTStd-Oblique.otf. The only two being displayed in the font menu are AvenirLTStd-Roman.otf and AvenirLTStd-Light.otf ("Roman" and "Light" are pretty traditional names).
I've tried renaming the fonts to "Bold" and "italic", etc., but Windows still sees the original names. I've tried opening the fonts in Notepad and changing all references (for example, all "Heavy" to "bold"), but saving the font file (even if I add and remove a space) makes it unreadable as a font (security issues, I think). One reason I think it's a naming issue, is I did try renaming Heavy to Roman, and installed it, and Flash saw it as Roman, but it had the Heavy characteristic. This work-around doesn't work, however, as I need Roman, too (and renaming it Roman2 doesn't work). Is there any solution for this? I need access to all of the Avenir font family, as it's for a branded project that uses Avenir specifically. Oh, and last but not least, I have the fonts installed on my Mac, and Flash 8 and CS3 both see all the fonts, no problem.
i'm fresh to using flash cs5. everything works smoothly,but i can't use type1 fonts (even though they work ok in flash cs3, and also, all the other types of fonts work fine).if i use a type1 font, the textfield (both render in the final swf, as well as on the stage) appears in some default font.

I just upgraded to Flash CS5. Font embedding is entirely different than it was in CS4. I've been looking for examples online but none seem to show me a solution that matches what I need.
In the project I'm working on, code changes the font a text box uses based on region and language. To keep file size down I created separate swf files with the fonts embedded. That way I only download the font I need. The way I did this and the code I used in CS4 doesn't seem to work anymore.
I used the proLoader that comes in Flash5.5 to load a swf which contains a tlf text with an embedded font. The proLoader works great but it doesn't display the font instead it displays a font that looks like Helvetica. I also tried 'merged into code' in RSL settings default linkage and the swf still does not display the font I want. It works fine in Classic Text.

Most of the objects perform perfectly, but the ones on the edge of the stagedisappear when I export to video. When I zoom in to look at them, they are there,but when i zoom out to fit to page, they are gone
