Export - List Of All Classes Exported By A Flash Movie
Nov 27, 2009
A Flash movie loads another movie that contains various asserts - movie clips in its library with 'Export for Action Script' settings set.
Is there any way to determine the list of class names of all these exported asserts from within the movie that loads them?

What I want to do is compile an .fla with nothing on the stage but several of the movieclips are set to export on first frame in the properties linkage manager. When the .swf runs, I want to loop through and get the names of all the exported assets so I can place them in an array and manipulate them later.
I want to turn the code over to the art team where all they have to do is attach my .as file for the document class. I will not know what they name their movieclips, yet they are instructed to name them alphabetically according to what order they should appear. (My code is a sort of self contained slide show).

How do you edit the flash export settings so when its exported you can disable Play, Loop, and other stuff like some shockwave and flash animations?
Also how do they make a full screen ad, sometimes seen on yahoo.com, with flash, but everything else is transperent cept for an object.. e.g. a car driving across the screen and you can still see everything around it! Thats really kewl hehe

I am trying to use AsDoc on the code of one of my projects in flash. Some of the classes that I use inside the code are "exported for actionscript" classes from my FLA file. Of course the AsDoc compiler complains that those classes are not defined anywhere. Does anyone know how to make it ignore these class types?

I have an application using a class that was originally a MovieClip exported for Actionscript by Flash. I have not been able to figure out how to add new properties to this class.

When I load an swf dynamically using the Loader, is there any way that I can retrieve the symbols that are exported as as3 classes? I know I can instantiate the symbols when I know the classname using loaderInfo.applicationDomain.getDefinition(fullyQualifiedName) as Class But I can't find something like applicationDomain.getDefinitions() which would result an array of fully qualified classnames, like
[Code]....

I have designed a Flash animation for a client who has asked me to also provide it in a format which can be used in a film he wants to produce in Apple Final Cut Pro. I assumed the best format would be QuickTime but whenever I export the Flash file in to QuickTime the quality of the film is awful - the graphics leave fragments of themselves behind as they move (if that makes sense?!) and the overall quality isn't very crisp.

I made a movie in Flash CS3. The exported SWF shows that the right hand side of some of my letterforms (made from a non-converted font) are clipped off. Switching fonts produces similar results. Is there some glitch in the program that I am no aware of?

I produce advertising banners with Flash CS4. I often have to comply to a max weight of 40K. Sometimes I use functionnalities that make Flash export actionscript classes to a frame in the swf which makes it exceed the 40k limit. Is there a way to make flash export those classes to a separate file instead of in a frame?

So I posted a question earlier similar to this, but this is a totally different thing and in CS3, not CS4--and on a different machine. I have a video player .fla that imports VideoScaleMode and VideoEvent, but when I test the movie I get compile errors saying the definitions can't be found. These are in the fl.video package and that's how I'm importing them:
import fl.video.VideoScaleMode;
import fl.video.VideoEvent;
But for some reason they aren't found--or at least that is the error that is thrown. The same exact code in an .fla that I previously developed works perfectly, right next to the problem .fla at the same time in the IDE, so why in the world wouldn't it work in this one? In fact, even if I create a brand new AS3 flash document and paste the code above onto the timeline and test it, I get the 'definition not found' errors. But if I click over to my old .fla in the IDE and test it, no problem. And the AS3 settings (classpaths) are identical in these files.

I've built a small, simple web page. One frame uses 3 ComboBoxes and one UIScrollBar. I set up my Components by dragging them from the Library and using the Property Inspector to give them values. Everything works fine and shows up when published... but then eventually, when published, all of the components show up as blank rectangles. I'm trying to minimize the data being loaded during Frames 1 & 2 due to the preloader. I chose to Export Classes in Frame 3. When I do this, my Components (in Frame 9) disappear. How can I solve this?

In any case I had a question about exporting. You see I imported a flv file (which was converted from a wmv) into Flash Prof CS5, when I did this I got a nice interface to choose a player control skin for the movie. However when I export the movie the player controls are no longer present.I'm doing this simply so I can embed the swf on a website and wish the user to have some control over it.

I'm trying to export a little animated logo to a video file.
Thing is, I'm using tweener animations, and it's all animated in actionscript. So there's nothing going on on the timeline, except for the first frame that contains the actionscript code and my objects in their starting position.
So when I export, it's just showing a static messed up image of all my elements, which should be hidden from start (due to itemMc.alpha = 0; on basically every item).

Is there any way to get a list of custom classes? I'd like to be able to dynamically access the custom classes (that I've created by the "Export for Actionscript" checkbox in the "Linkage" dialog) without having to hard-code their names into the script.

I am importing quicktime videos into flash from premiere (cs3) and exporting them --- however, for some odd reason (and this does not happen consistently) small pink boxes show up towards the bottom of the screen for a couple frames and then disappear in the final product (Flash file). I've exported the movie several times and sometimes they do not show up at all; other times, they are present in various places in the movie. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing these bizarre artifacts in the final export?

You can manually save some particular movie clip on a stage as an image by running "Export > Export Image". Is it possible to write an actionscript that would export all movie clips on a stage to images automatically? Or at least is there a way to automate this in any way?

Is there a way in AS 3 to list all classes and their associated methods? Or at least a way to list the methods within a particular class?
It seems that it's all so overwhelming and although I'm well versed in Lingo and have a handle on the Lingo dictionary,I feel as though the AS 3 library is dauntingly big.

I'm working on a project where I need a sort of quick list of class functions.
To clarify, say a user starts typing MovieClip. I want to bring up a list of classes as the user starts typing, complete with the package name. Kind of like the action you get when typing in a Google search or something.
Really, I just need to find an XML or JSON list of all classes, including packages, that I can load when the application loads up, so that I can create the quick list.
I've been scouring the net, but perhaps I'm not formatting my search query quite right, and I'm getting no hits.
I'd really hate to have to create a program that goes through the LiveDocs and parses all of the HTML to output a file with all of the classes.

I'm making the game Breakout as an AS3 application using OOP. I am getting very confused though. I know that objects should be only responsible for themselves. But this is where I get stuck, they need to communicate as some level to add and remove screens, and I am getting majorly confused as to what is going too far, when it could maybe achieved in a simpler more OOP way. I've worked out the hierarchy of my classes, in terms of where they are being added (I think). I've added a screenshot of the hierarchy.
Have I got the order right based on OOP principles? Like, Introscreen will listen for play being pressed then call a method of the document class that will remove introscreen and then attach gamescreen. Is that right? Another thing that puzzples me. It seems to me if I made a level and put the paddle and the ball in that, then arranged all the bricks in that level, that I'd be duplicating work (based on the fact I need paddle and ball for level 2 also). So it would be best if I could have gamescreen with paddle and the ball and then add level1/2/3 to display list which would therefore set up the appropriate brick placement. But then, wouldn't that mean that I couldn't do hittests because my level 1/2 or 3 wouldn't be a sibling to the bat and the ball, them residing as a sibling in the level's parent class?

I have created a list of Classes in a school in Excel and saved it as an XML file. In each row it contains the name of the class followed by a list of class members. In col 1 is the word "Class", in the next col is "7C1" ( or equivalent) then each cell after that contains the names of the class members. I can load the XML file no problem, and display the full contents using 'trace', but I don't seem to be able to extract just the class names and student names to use in a Flash application. The code I'm using so far is attached.
