Flash 9 :: Export To Movie But Not Depend On Timeline?
Aug 28, 2008
I'm trying to export a little animated logo to a video file.
Thing is, I'm using tweener animations, and it's all animated in actionscript. So there's nothing going on on the timeline, except for the first frame that contains the actionscript code and my objects in their starting position.
So when I export, it's just showing a static messed up image of all my elements, which should be hidden from start (due to itemMc.alpha = 0; on basically every item).

I work with Flash CS4 and lately I've been looking for certain classes to ease my work. To be more precise Atom/RSS2.0 parsing classes. But the best result I found needed me to work with FLEX. Now I can't get this to work with flash CS4. There's no apparent way to make this work. I can build my own parser or look for one that doesn't need Flex. But it looks like the future is more FLEX oriented.
EDIT : I know how Flex Code and SWC files should work. But every time I try to use them I get some bizarre error about missing classes and methods that are part of FLEX but not included in Flash...

I am importing quicktime videos into flash from premiere (cs3) and exporting them --- however, for some odd reason (and this does not happen consistently) small pink boxes show up towards the bottom of the screen for a couple frames and then disappear in the final product (Flash file). I've exported the movie several times and sometimes they do not show up at all; other times, they are present in various places in the movie. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing these bizarre artifacts in the final export?

A Flash movie loads another movie that contains various asserts - movie clips in its library with 'Export for Action Script' settings set.
Is there any way to determine the list of class names of all these exported asserts from within the movie that loads them?

You can manually save some particular movie clip on a stage as an image by running "Export > Export Image". Is it possible to write an actionscript that would export all movie clips on a stage to images automatically? Or at least is there a way to automate this in any way?

I just exported a flash project to create a Quicktime Movie and there are artifacts in the Quick Time Movie which do NOT exist in the flash project or the SWF file. Would anyone be able to explain why the ghosting is appearing in the movie file?

how I export the thing (as an image, or a movie, and in any format) I can't see the text. This is especially frustrating because text forms the entire basis of my animation.Tried converting text to movie clips, no difference. The weird part is, I was able to test the thing early on with no problem-- text displayed and everything. I should add: I have used MULTIPLE fonts... and I think this was about when things started not working.I'm working on a deadline and if you know how to fix this, it would make a big difference to my life.

I am having this issue with Flash CS5 Mac version:After making an animation, I export movie as Quicktime. When I view this movie, the animation leaves trails of color when an object moves across the screen, leaving behind little bits of color too. This does not happen when I export a SWF, but it does happen when I export a Quicktime movie. I export using Quicktime, so I can then I can export it into a flv in Adone media encorder.Why does this happen?

I have a file comprised of 1 scene and two movie clips. The clips are instanced into the Main Timeline and occupy Frames 1 and 2 respectively.MovieClip1 is an animation that has navigation buttons that appear at the end of the clip. I'm trying to get mouse click navigation to make Frame 2 on the Main Timeline active.
Here is what I'm trying but it is not working:
btExplore.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, ExploreClick);
function ExploreClick (evt:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop(2);
}
this takes the animation to Frame 2 of the Movie Clip Timeline not Frame 2 the Main Timeline.

When I try to export a Quicktime movie from the Export>Export Movie, I get this error message:Error creating Flash movie file.Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long.A few things I've tested:
- Saving to different drives - all of which are not locked.
- changing the file name to one single word followed by .mov
- saving the flash file as a new file and trying again
- opening the file on a different machine and exporting
None of these have fixed the problem. Every time I get the same error. I've been able to export swf movies and also JPEG sequences, but I'd much rather be able to export the Quicktime movie since I need to bring this into FCP and the Flash movie has sound in it as well, so with the JPEG sequence I'd have to lay in the audio again.

I'm working on an autorun CD, and the first step that I tried to do was to publish the file I have. I've made a small index for a catelog I'm working on, and when disc is put in the persons computer, what is suposed to happen is a flash made index comes up with options to view catelog or exit or go to website etc. I just published the file, selected windows projector (exe) and published it. I found the file easily enough, but whenever I double click to open it, the screen for the index flashes once and then closes. I've never used Flash before, so I'm not sure why its doing this.
The only idea that I possibly have is that there is an issue with the timeline. I dont really know how to use timelines. The only thign that is supposed to really move in the index is a line of scrolling text at the top (which I edited within the actual animation itself so nothing shows up for duration on the main timeline, but the scrolling is supposed to last for 40 seconds). When I test it in Flash it works fine, the screen comes up, text scrolls over and over, and it stays open.
Right now my timeline looks like this: timeline

My SWF file plays properly, but if I open the file in After Effects the movie symbols don't play. Changing the movie symbols into graphic symbols works but then of course I lose my filters. I would export straight to MOV from Flash but that brings up so many other glitches. Basically I am looking for a good way to get video from flash.

detailed explanation of the very best method for taking several Flash clips (multiple layers and audio) and combining them into one, sleek movie with high quality for posting on YouTube?-Exporting the Flash clips as .mov files and compiling them all in Premiere.he problem with this is that no matter what compression I used, I get a really crappy quality-Exporting the Flash clips as .mov files and compiling them all in After EffectsHere I get great quality video, but NO audio.-Combing all the frames into one big .fla file to export as a .mov filelash crashes every time I attempt to combine all the frames

I am building an interactive website as my final project for my Webmastering class and need to know one thing. First I'll give you my setup. I have four Movie Clips in four seperate layers on my main timeline. I want to export one of those Movie Clips as an avi file. When I use export>movie, it exports the main timeline. I figured it would do that. So then I opened up the Movie Clip that I want to export and tried the same thing again. No luck. how to remedy this situation. I have five days to do this and have spent about four days of my life working on this if you add up all the hours that I have spent working on this.

Does anyone know how or if you can export a movie clip as a swf and save it somewhere on your hard drive/web space?
For example I have an application that has a movie clip of a christmas tree, the user drags various decorations on to the tree.
Is it possible to export the tree then to a swf they can download themselves?

I just recently finished the snowflake tutorial and made a very nice movie with some minor tweaks of my own into the coding, and I'm very new to flash (this being the first many experiences with it). I want to create a movie that I can make full screen without the task bar at the top (maybe in windows movie viewer or quicktime), but there is no option to play the movie, only to test. When I export the movie into an AVI files, nothing happens.

I am trying to embedded an flv into a flash movie timeline that runs at 12fps.My source avi is 60 seconds in duration. However using cs3 video encoder with the frame rate set to 12 fps results in an flv that uses up 1440 frames of my timeline.In fact any frame rate selected always results in an flv of this frame length? Assuming that I need the flv to be 720 frames total (60 seconds * 12 frames), and not twice that duration as that would still have to be played at 24 fps. I undertand that there is a relationship to the original fps the movie was shot in (in this case 24fps) but will/does the encoder not produce an flv with the frame rate altered to match my timeline fps? or do you basically have to use a camera that shoots the original avi at 12fpsto get it to play in 12 fps timeline??
