Professional :: Making Button On Imported PSD
Aug 12, 2010It seemed like a simple process but I cant seem to get this right... I got a button there, but the URL wont go, i.e., the click does nothing. I imported a PSD layered image to Flash CS3, into a new blank layer. I need basically an area of this PSD to be "image mapped" so what I did was create a rectangle with the rect tool, over the area I needed the hot spot. Here I tried to do a transparent box and border (alpha 0) but the outline is still there even though the box is "empty." (I did select the transparent box, no color, and tried alpha, both same result). I made that into a symbol, then I double clicked into there to fill in the key pts for the over, hit, etc., states.... I don't have any effects here btw, as simple as we can get.
After that I right clicked on the button and entered the action script ("reserve" is the name of my button symbol)
reserve.onRelease=function(){getURL("[URL]");}
Which gave no errors on validation. When I preview in Flash, everything looks good except the thin black border and the fact that when the button is pressed, nothing happens.

I get errors of varying sorts. What should I use? AS2 or AS3? And what code should I assign to the button (or that button's frame?) to get it to go to frame 2 once clicked?
Professional :: Making A Back Button Work?
May 18, 2011Flash CS5 on Windows 7 I have a problem with a project I am creating. I have created 3 buttons which when clicked open other movieclips for each button. On each of the movieclips that the buttons send them to, all have a back button to return them back to the original view.
This back button works fine apart from once they are back at the original view, the 3 buttons stop working.

Nov 27, 2010In CS5, I want to have a frame with buttons that when clicked, reveal different graphic symbols or movie clips (I'm not sure what to use?). The symbols will reveal text information and graphics, and might fade in when clicked, though will not move or do anything else.
1. Is it better to make these text and graphcis into movie clips or graphic symbols?
2. How do they get hidden on the stage until a user clicks on a button to reveal it?
3. Using Code snippets, which option will make this work?

Feb 28, 2012This might be trying to be too tricky, but I have a set of keyframes on the timeline that correspond to the buttons on my xml drop down. When I am on a particular frame, I want the button for that frame and the mainItem button that it drops down from to have some sort of highlight or extra glow. This is meant to be so that a user can see where they are in the project at any time. All the code is included in my previous posts on xml drop down menu..
I can find the buttons by checking if they have certain text on them, so now I want to
1) Set a variable on each keyframe

and then have some code that says
if(a=="page 1")....[go and get the button] e.currentTarget.menuText.text=="Questions" [and do something to it ]<-- except it wont be the current target it will just be out there with that text on it..

Jun 15, 2010I've been following the book "Beggining Flash Programing for Dummies" and I have come up to a part where I create a very simple game.
The script involved in the frames are FRAME here:

Frame there

When I test the movie and click the button, the frames don't seem to change.

Apr 3, 2011I'm jew to Flash and I'm trying to make an animated button in Flash CS5 that has the ability to turn music on/off. I've followed different tutorials, and right now I'm trying to use an animated movie clip with an "invisible" button over it. I want the animation to swap frames when the button is clicked, and I also want the music to toggle on/off when the button is clicked.For example:When the button is pressed, the animation switches to say "press to turn off music" and the music turns on.But so far, the button isn't working, and the animation won't stop switching frames even when I enter the "stop();" code.Does anyone have any idea how to make it so that the button works together with the animation and music?

Jul 21, 2011I want to make this effect in my website where there are books on shelf and when you click on one say the "About" book it comes off of the shelf and flips open onto the screen and shows the text written in the book on what my website is about. Oct 9, 2010I'm trying to make a simple text animation but the background won't go away from my exports. I need to make a movie file (.avi or .mov) and nothing is letting me remove the white space in the background.Things I have tried:
Go to Publish settings > HTML > Window mode: Trasparent Windowless
Result: White background remains
Make a .mov and in Quicktime Export Settings checkmark Ignore Stage Color (generate alpha)
Result: This time, everything was black (text was black too so it probably blended withthe background[code].....
So far nothing works so what is the deal with flash not comprehending with a clear background in movie files?

Nov 24, 2010windows 7 64 bit IE and mozilla firefox , both 32 bit Says I have flash player installed. I have the latest version. My windows is up to date, 64 bit 7. Plugin is enabled, works on adobe's site. Doesn't work anywhere else to my knowledge

The folder is not there. I thought that would probably be the problem. Manual installer uninstalling and all kinds of installing have been tried.

By clicking on a button you you're taken back to the start of the flash file and all the variable reset to their starting positions. Flash :: Professional - Making An Animation For The Box Which Starts From A Sheet Of Paper And Folds Into A Box
Feb 25, 2012I installed Adobe Flash CS5.5 a couple of days back...Trying to learn a few basic tricks such as motion tween (messed up things with the bone tool though)..Well the problem is, a friend of mine made a 3D drawing in Solid Works(a modelling software). It is a sort of box, now he wants me to make a flash animation for the box which starts from a sheet of paper and folds into a box and then the camera zooms out.
Now i have no idea how to do that..jpg file can be made and imported to flash...but as it will be an imported file how can it be manipulated to achieve the final task....taking screen shots of the box at various stages of solid works can be done and then played all together in flash baut it would be very tiresome and time consuming...
I dont want anyone to make it for me just guide me what tools and tutorials to look at.

Dec 4, 2011I am an artist trying to remake my website...I have a picture of a window on my homepage. The window is a movie. When clicked on, the window lights turn on and a grid of thumbnail pics appear. Each thumbnail is a movie clip. When a thumbnail is clicked on, the movie plays and a larger image appears over the window. The problem is, the window is still active underneath the large image, so if I click on the large image, I am really clicking on the window movie clip underneath, and the thumbnail grid disappears-starting the window movie clip over. How do I make the window clip inactive after it is initially clicked? Also, I would like the larger images to end their movie clips after another thumbnail is clicked, so that there aren't large images piled up on top of each other.

Making A Link From One Button To Another Sc4?
Sep 12, 2009i have a friend who are dentist and ive agreed to do a web site for him. I do it in cs4. Like so: ive made a pretty simple and nice layout i plan to use for all pages with some images an so on .Now ive made lots of buttons wich all opens in a timeline nice and slow (not to slow). On the index page i have a menu called "treatments" wich requir some room. I want to make a button called "treatments" wich can open and collaps to 3-4 minor buttons wich then again can link to diffrent pages describing different treatments. Now i need the treatment button to open up the 3-4 minor buttons one by one smooth(tweened with the alpha slider) with same frame rate as the other ones on the page and collaps again.
