I get errors of varying sorts. What should I use? AS2 or AS3? And what code should I assign to the button (or that button's frame?) to get it to go to frame 2 once clicked?
Im creating a simple flash presentation and i have created four buttons, what i want to now do is make each button go to a differant frame on the timeline, im guessing this is go to and stop? But i cant figure it out [URL]
I've been following the book "Beggining Flash Programing for Dummies" and I have come up to a part where I create a very simple game. The script involved in the frames are FRAME here:
1. The old main logo was not as wide as the new one, so now the entire new one is not clickable (to take you back to the main page). How do I fix this?
2. For the life of me I can't figure out how to make text (or a button if need be) link to a specific flash frame. If you look on the site, there are a couple of spots under "What We Do" that I need clickable to take them to the Contact Us page.
I am making a frame by frame animation, where I draw a character, make a new frame and use the onion skin to slightly move my character. Is there a way to make a certain part faster than others? I made a character prepare to kick someone, but since i was doing it frame by frame it looks slow. So instead of taking out frames and making it look choppy, how do I make a certain part faster or increase its FPS? I tried making a new scene and changing its FPS, but that still changes the overall FPS.
So I have 13 buttons and each of these load the same movieclip. Now how do I make an if statement so that depending on what button is pressed it goes to a specific frame in this loaded movieclip?
i see a code back in my old days of flash pro 8.0of gotoAndPlay() and stop(),etc;now its as3.0when i tried my old codes b4 with as3.0 it doesnt work..well my button is named start_btn.. and all my buttons is on the same frame as it is..but i wanted for it jump to the next frame where most of the actions of my flash takes place..can some1 guide me thru this?im jst new to cs4..and lots of things has changed when i jumpd from pro 8.0 to cs4.
What I am trying to do is get a button to make a movieclip go to a specific frame. I have a movieclip that plays a set of frames up to the 100th frame, and then I tell it to go back to and play frame 1 again. However, at about 105, I have another set of frames that I want to play at the push of a button. How would I go about doing this?
How can i access an object (movieclip) at a specific frame which is located inside another movieclip. It's something like this : first movieclip - and inside it, on frame 10 i have the second movieclip. I want to access that second movieclip ont that 10th frame.

I didnt put i a object name before the addeventlistener because I'm not sure what to put because if I put "this" the other buttons will bt controlled by this code and if i put "parent" only that button will work.
I'm unable to make it work :Flash exports the first frame in the SWF file as a PNG file, unless you mark a different keyframe for export by entering the #Static frame label.When publishing the fla, the png is build from the frame that is currently displayed in flash (if my timeline is at frame 3, frame 3 get exported)
I have a website that I originally began to design in flash but later started developing new pages for it in html. The flash part of it has several pages on different frames and I have created links from the flash part to the other html pages, but, I can only link the html pages back to the main flash home page, and not the other pages in the flash part of the website.
What I want to do is have one movieclip that has many frames and turn that into a button and then make different instances of the button and have those instances display a certain frame of the underlying movieclip.
I have many buttons in a few movie files, i need to select a few of these buttons and store them in an array so i use....

i then need to go to a certain frame of the movie, depending upon where the button is found in the array. So if the button is at position three of the array, i need to jump to keyframe 3 of my movie.
I am trying to make a light comparison chart where the lights can be turned on inividually by the user and one can be compared to another depending on which of the 6 lights you want to view.So far i have managed to make this work with 5 lights over 33 layers and diffferent buttons and different handlers for each of the buttons on each layer but as soon as the 4 and 5 light come into play everything slows down struggles and sometimes gives up.Is there a simple way of doing this which i am unaware of.I am currently using the gotoandstop comand to go to a specific frame based on the button press.
It seemed like a simple process but I cant seem to get this right... I got a button there, but the URL wont go, i.e., the click does nothing. I imported a PSD layered image to Flash CS3, into a new blank layer. I need basically an area of this PSD to be "image mapped" so what I did was create a rectangle with the rect tool, over the area I needed the hot spot. Here I tried to do a transparent box and border (alpha 0) but the outline is still there even though the box is "empty." (I did select the transparent box, no color, and tried alpha, both same result). I made that into a symbol, then I double clicked into there to fill in the key pts for the over, hit, etc., states.... I don't have any effects here btw, as simple as we can get.
After that I right clicked on the button and entered the action script ("reserve" is the name of my button symbol) reserve.onRelease=function(){getURL("[URL]");} Which gave no errors on validation. When I preview in Flash, everything looks good except the thin black border and the fact that when the button is pressed, nothing happens.
i need to change the colour of a graphic in a specific movie in a specific frame. if i have a movie clip instance-named "sidetext" thats 15 frames long, and i want a graphic in the movie, called "letterp" to change to one of four colours that i want it to randomly at frame 10 and stay that colour uintil frame 15, how can i do this?
how do i export specific frames not all frame. ex: if flash has 1 to 200 frames. here i want to export 51 to 150 frames as a movie. if there is any command or plugin to export movie like this.
Flash CS5 on Windows 7 I have a problem with a project I am creating. I have created 3 buttons which when clicked open other movieclips for each button. On each of the movieclips that the buttons send them to, all have a back button to return them back to the original view.
This back button works fine apart from once they are back at the original view, the 3 buttons stop working.
I have been doing really well figuring everything out up until now.[code]How it stands, what is this link pointing to? Can I make it target a specific frame in a specific movie clip?And if someone would be so kind and explain what this is saying in 3rd grader terms.
Basically once my animation loads I want to pull in an external SWF at a specific frame, basically like the "home page" swf that will display first. Underneath that I will have "About Us, Contact, etc..." and those will each load an external SWF into my movie clip. My movieclip right now is called mcHolder. In CS5, I want to have a frame with buttons that when clicked, reveal different graphic symbols or movie clips (I'm not sure what to use?). The symbols will reveal text information and graphics, and might fade in when clicked, though will not move or do anything else.
1. Is it better to make these text and graphcis into movie clips or graphic symbols?
2. How do they get hidden on the stage until a user clicks on a button to reveal it?
3. Using Code snippets, which option will make this work?
This might be trying to be too tricky, but I have a set of keyframes on the timeline that correspond to the buttons on my xml drop down. When I am on a particular frame, I want the button for that frame and the mainItem button that it drops down from to have some sort of highlight or extra glow. This is meant to be so that a user can see where they are in the project at any time. All the code is included in my previous posts on xml drop down menu..
I can find the buttons by checking if they have certain text on them, so now I want to 1) Set a variable on each keyframe var a:String="page1"; and then have some code that says if(a=="page 1")....[go and get the button] e.currentTarget.menuText.text=="Questions" [and do something to it ]<-- except it wont be the current target it will just be out there with that text on it..
I have created a racing game and over all i got 3 frames and about 10 main layers.. i have tried so many scripts now and they're not working .The game begins on frame 2 while the main menu is on frame 1.Not sure if it matters but i have the menu copied on all the frame 1's of all the layers...
