Professional :: Player Controls Won't Auto - Hide?
Sep 4, 2010
I can't seem to get the Flash player controls to autohide. If you mouse out of the video very slowly the flash player controls that are over the video will autohide. But if you mouse out quickly the controls stay there.
I have created a movie in Flash CS3 with the FLVplayback control. In the parameters of the control I have set the autohide of the player skin to false. But when I publish my movie to the webserver the controls are still autohiding. I have cleared my cache repeatedly and republished the movie repeatedly, but I can't seem to get the controls to stay up permanently.
I have done this with presentations many times and I have never had this issue before.
The presentation is being shown in IE8 with compatibility view off, although I have tried it with compatibility view on as well.
Is there a way to hide the controls on a flash video (flv) until the user scrolls over the video? So the page opens, the video starts playing (still no controls visable) and then when a user scrolls over the video, you then see the controls for the first time. I have searched high and low.
i have the controls for car number 1 that would be the arrow keys if [code]but how can i make controls for car 2.i wann use wasd but i cant figure out how the key.a doesnt work.
I have just created a Flash movie with a .flv file in flash cs4 when playing the .swf file we can see the controls of the player, when I use the html code the player controls are missing.[code]...
Im looking for a quick solution (if its out there) using the autohide feature using the FLV Playback Component.
Current situation: Using ActionScript 2. The FLV component fills the stage. Autohide is set to true.
It looks to me that since the video fills the stage, the skin will not hide. What I would like to do is have the skin fade out if the mouse doesnt move for a certain period of time.
I know there currently some ways to install the sdk for Air 3 and flash player 11. But when will there be an update the installs these key elements in a professional an clean way? Is the an offical date for when an flash cs5.5 update will install the new sdks?
I tried to look this up, but can't seem to find what I am looking for. How do I hide the FLV Buffer in the beginning and the playback controls that come with it?
how do i make a movieclip autohide? I would like to make the movieclip rise up from below when i rollover it. And when idle, it would return to the bottom.
I have a video player that has a clip on it, called sliderTarget. on ROLL_OVER, a thumbnailsSlider comes down from the top, showing thumbnails of other available videos to play...
Problem is, I'm having trouble with the layers, so that when I roll over the thumbnailsSlider, it doesn't register, since I'm really still on the sliderTarget. If I swap depths, then the thumbnailsSlider slides away since I've officially rolled out.[code]...
I am trying out the inactivity timer technique and I am still trying to get it to work. This what I have so far [URL]As you can see I have it so when the mouse isnt moving the control bar goes down and vice versa. But when I move the mouse the control bar replays the up motion.
In my flex app I have custom tooltips on buttons that hide and show based on user context. The problem that I dealing with is that when I call my showTips() function I only want to show tooltips on the buttons that visible in the view. So buttons that on a un-selected tab (tabNavigator) should not show the tooltips. For some reason all tooltips are showing. Is there a way to detect if a button is not in current view, like on a un-selected tab?
I have a flash project with an flvplayback component using a flash provided shin and I have it set to auto hide but It always starts the video with the control on and I don't want them to show unless the user hovers over the video.
I Am trying to create a navigation system where the navigation(nav_mc) will slide into screen anytime the mouse is over the plash player and then slide out when the mouse is off the flash player.
I have achieved this quite easily using an invisible button(stage_btn) over the entire flash, with event handlers to initiate tweenlite tweens of the navigation in and out of screen on MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT
Now i have buttons in nav_mc, that dont receive focus if nav_mc is below the main stage_btn and if i bring stage_btn above the nav_mc it means that when i rollover nav_mc, then stage_mc looses focus and slides out with all my navigation buttons...
Any ideas on the best way to handle this situation - or go about doing the the entire ting in a different way?

Code: Select all//call tween import caurina.transitions.Tweener; const BUFFER_TIME:Number = 8; /* stores the time to buffer for the video in seconds. */
I was wondering if anyone knew how to hide the skin in the flvplayback component on ROLL_OUT. SkinAutoHide seems to work whenever it feels like it and sometimes the button controls just stay over the video. This happens in Safari and IE I believe. I am used Actionscipt 3.0OR does anyone know how to get to the display list of the component, where all the names to all the buttons (and skin) is housed, using the instance names from the component fla file does not work. I looked at the documentation and the names of all the button sprites are there, but i need the name of the background that the buttons sit on top of.
In a Flex Project, whenever there's an error, I fill in the error data into a hidden TextInput then show the control to the user. I want to make it so that after showing the TextInput, it will automatically hide itself after some time with a fade effect.
Flash is not in my toolset, but I am an old Director jock and have spent some hours dipping my head into the Flash manual. I suppose that makes me a promising beginner-level poster. I'm working in CS5.
I need to make a simple Flash-based sound player for a website for a newly-released novel (http://www.bearriverbooks.com/index.html). I want the user to click on what appears to be an icon (or image), which kicks open a simple controller and starts playing a sound file (a radio interview, which I will probably export using Flash's voice compression). Nothing fancy. Just want the visitor to hear the sound and be able to apply simple controls (stop/start/rewind/volume).
I can learn ActionScript, I suppose, since I used to dream in Lingo, but my life would be a lot simpler if I could just publish a controller without having to roll my own. I'd like to think there's a magic button somewhere that can do this, but I haven't found it yet.
While the question may seem fairly basic I seem to be at a loss to actually find anything that fits my needs, which are:
Skinnable (although not 100% required) Controllable through javascript (start, stop, change track)Event triggers for custom functions (on track finish mainly) Actual documentation - rather that 'it can do this, but we wont tell you how' I've tried many of the free and quite a few demo's of the pay for ones. Wimpy Wasp seemed to be the closest to what I need but there is an obsession there with using a custom Windows app to set it up which is impossible as the files are provided dynamically by the sites users and it doesn't look like they want you to be able to create the code yourself.
I have started creating a movie trailer in Flash Professional cs5.5. I need to add player controls that will show up when I publish the file. I do not want to have to convert to an FLV file in order to use FLVPlayer Component. My published SWF file now is 3mbs - converting to FLV turns it into 100mbs!
I followed a tutorial on youtube on how to make a custom flash player but the guy never uploaded continuing videos. Here's the link to the video: [URL]...So all I have now is a 3.0 Action Script file with a layer that has this code in it:
//Vars var video:Video; var netCon:NetConnection; var stream:NetStream;
how to disable the Flash Player controls (right click controls) for an animation I have made; but the problem is that I cannot find a tutorial on this subject.
I want to play song on my website, any flash mp3 player which allows me to control play, pause, change song position (means backward/forward by certain limit), change volume options using javascript code.
I'm have a flash movie where I let the viewer push a button to load an external SWF-which in itself is a video I converted to SWF. Once it loads via an empty movie clip into the main flash movie how can I add video player controls such as volume on the lower part of the stage of the main movie to control the externally loaded SWF?
I'm trying to make Windows Media Player style controls into my movie. I know how to do stop, play, and pause already, but I don't know how to do the progress bar. I tried searching in the actionscript help menu. I couldn't find any actions that retrieve total frames in the movie and current frame number.
