Jun 1, 2011I have been working on a project for a week and suddenly it crashed during save (nothing strange had been imported or anything i just saved after moving content around) and now i cant open my file again. I contacted adobe support who claim that since the problem is related to the file this is not their problem, what a load of HORSE ****, who should i contact about this dell if its an FLA FILE!? I have already renamed the file to flash.zip then opened with WinRar and repaired as a new zip file to a different folder (which removes the corrupt content which is document something.xml) then i tried renaming this folder back to flash.fla however the file still does not open.

Nov 14, 2010I'm implementing the RTMP-protocol for my bachelor thesis. I got through the handshake and application connect process and received the play-command from my client which is actually a jw player.But I now stuck with the audio and video-messages. I can't find something about the exactly built-up of these messages neither in the specification nor somewhere else.What should i do with the metadata and header of the flv-file? Can I send the whole tag and audio-/video-data from my file in the RTMP-audio- and video-messages?

Oct 14, 2009I'm suddenly getting an "Unexpected file format" error on virtually every Flash CS4 file that I try to open. These are files that I created and I'm trying to open tham on the same computer on which they were created. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed some new fonts, so I deleted those, but that hasn't helped.I've tried retrieving files that I had backed up to a server, and those give me the same error. The only files that I AM able to open are 1) a test file that I created in CS4, saved, closed and reopened, and 2) files that had been created in CS3.

Dec 28, 2010Today I was working on a project in Flash, I restarted my computer because when I was pasting sth. It was pasting "Hello!". After the restart, I opened Flash, It said that the "Essentials xml" couldn't be opened. So it said to go to Window>Essentials reset. I did and I was able to edit again. But before doing that, I tried to open that project, and it Said that it couldn't be found. I opened it manually but still the same. Then I closed Flash and opened it again. And when I opened the project I got : "Unexpected file format".

Mar 17, 2011What is correct way of creating a police car with flashing blue lights drive along in a scene?My plan was to create a new file, add car and png of just the lights to the library.layer 1 rename as car and dragdrop car graphic to stage, add keyframe at fr48 for 24fps scene, 2secs duration insert a layer call it lights and drag drop to stage, make duration 24frames, lights flash at 1 sec intervals when movie played.Should I select both layers and go modify>convert to symbol>movieclip then copy paste that from library to the library of the scene with the road ?(it doesnt flash !)How is this done ?
I also presume the fps of the movie clip if taken to another file should be the same as that file, one cannot have movie clips of different fps in one file, am I right ?

Sep 7, 2011We recently upgraded to Windows 7 64Bit from Windows XP here at work, and since the upgrade i've discovered a very scary issue with Flash.When going to save one of my large projects, often Adobe simply crashes outright, freezing up and displaying a standard error message."Adobe Flash CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." - with an option for "Close program"I hit close program, and Flash disappears. If I try and open that same FLA file again, I get the error messageUnfortunately it seems since Flash is crashing in the middle of saving, it is corrupting my FLA file. This is extremely worrying, since it corrupts my entire source file.Here's the details of my computer:OS: Windows 7 - Recently upgraded from 32bit Windows XPThe Flash CS5 version is 11.0.0.485The FLA in question is 10MB, and contains some large map files (gifs), lots of small JPG's as well as a fair chunk of code as well as importing of external classes. I've tried replicating the issue on smaller files, and haven't been able to do so.

Jul 23, 2011I was recently working on a project in Flash CS5.5 for school, last thing i did was save the project and close the program. Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then.

Oct 8, 2009I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.

When importing the .flv file of the video into the Flash project, I chose the imbedding method. I realize this increases the size of the overall .swf file when doing so. On the first watch (before the file is cached) it tends to pause while loading and/or jumps. I've tried other methods (like choosing the file has already been deployed to a web server, and play methods such as progressive download from a web server, stream from a Flash video streaming service, and stream from a Flash communication server). When choosing those other methods, the video loads nicely but the audio sounds a bit more distorted while playing. So, at present, I'm using the embed video in SWF and play in timeline option. Does anyone have any other suggestions to improve the video buffer speed, performance and the overall loading and quality of the Flash file? I'm still using Flash Professional 8.

Nov 20, 2008I am having trouble exporting Quicktime videos from Flash CS4. Previously, in Flash CS3, I got the following dialogue box: Flash CS3 export box Notice the fact that I can change the export resolution in this box. I set the resolution to what I want, and then click the quicktime settings box to change the movie's imensions to what I want. The resolution settings in this picture determine what dimensions the flash movie is rendered at, not the final quicktime movie. Now, take a look at my new dialogue box:

If I go into the quicktime settings and export out a movie at a higher resolution, it first renders the flash file at the ative resolution in the picture and then upsizes it to the quicktime resolution, resulting in a very low-quality, blurry movie.

Jun 23, 2011Using 10,3,162,29 on linux amd64, flash works perfectly on all sites apart from www.telegraph.co.uk whose videos are hosted by url... ooyala emailed me that they do not support linux. I believe flash would work if the telegraph were told how to script their html to execute flash. the flash video appears to load but then fails to execute. No error messages are displayed and no errors can be found on log files.I have seen several criticisms on the web on this issue and there is a consensus that it is adobe which is at fault. I believe in order to protect their reputation adobe will need to resolve this issue; I think it unlikely that the telegraph contract with ooyala allows them to ignore commonly used pc o/s's like linux. There is certainly little point in Adobe investing in linux flash if popular websites fail to provide adequate infrastructure.
